Chapter 54：This Is My Last Good Bye

They finish their tour in the afternoon. After having lunch and checking on what is necessary, they return back to the main city around 4 PM and arrived at 8 PM.

It such a tiring day for Xin Me and Mu Ning. They both took a shower and walked to the dinning table.

Seeing Hai Rin preparing the dinner, the tow of them helped her. Even tough this was their first time going to the kitchen, they did not seem awkward to handle the knife. Hai Rin let them help her.

"Oh, Hai Rin. I happened to find your violin in your bedroom. Do you play a musical instrument too?" Mu Ning said casually when she remembered seeing her violin hidden in the closet.

Hai Rin froze a moment. She remember there is some woman that she assume as an angel when she was a child giving her a set of violin and she also taught her how to play the violin.

Her tears suddenly rolling down from her cheek. She really likes that angel. That angel remained by her side her for about 5 to 6 years before she completely disappeared from her life.

The last sentence of her word is "Take care of yourself. I love you..my dear Rin."

Hai Yin who is standing behind the kitchen saw her daughter face. She also turn gloomy. She hid herself in the room after that.

While Xin Me and Mu Ning is a bit surprise seeing Hai Rin reaction.

"Oh my, oh my. Did I say something bad?" Mu Ning clumsily ask.

Hai Rin shake her head. "No. I just remember something that I should not remember." she wiped away her tears.

She couldn't even remember her angel face clearly. But her voices always been in her mind for the past 15 years now.

They continued to prepare dinner. After dinner Hai Rin knocked on her bedroom door.

Xin Me open the door. She look at Hai Rin face and ask. "What's the matter Rinrin? Do you need my help?"

Hai Rin smile a bit. She just perk on the room and said.

"I come to pick up my violin."

"Oh. Come in." Xin Me invite her in.

"Here." Mu Ning pass the violin to Hai Rin.

Hai Rin take the violin,wish the good night at the both of them and sit on the bench outside her house.

She place the violin in between her chin and neck, she start playing the instrument.

The only song that she learned and knew was the song that her angel keep playing when she was little.

The sound is a bit sad and lonely. But there is also the trace of love and kindness in it. She played for about 20 minutes before she put down the violin and cover her face with her palm.

She cried silently.

1998

"H..! Hel..Help..!" Hai Rin scream while struggling to breathe. She was driven by other children from the village to the river on the mountain behind her house.

Hai Rin closed her eyes. She was dragged by the wave suddenly someone grab her waist and carry her body. She felt someone push her chest hard until she was able to cough out the water from her mouth.

That time when she open her eyes, she saw a beautiful woman with a long hair and fair skin was smiling at her.

"Hey, are you okay?" she ask softly. Her face was so gentle. It gave a comfortable feeling around her.

"Thank you aunty angel." she said politely.

"Eheh, why you call me angel? Do you know who I am?" she chuckle a little.

Hai Rin shook her head slowly.

"My name is Zhi Ling. You can call me mommy if you want."

"Mommy?" she tilt her head and looking at the woman in front of her with wonder.

"Mhm.. mommy. What is your name?" she smile.

"My name is Hai Rin." Hai Rin blush a little seeing that woman smiling. Her smiling was very beautiful. It really look like an angel in her eyes.

"That is such a beautiful name. Is that necklace is yours?" she point her finger at Hai Rin neck.

"Yeah. It's mine."

After saying that, the woman name Zhi Ling keep smiling and sometimes kiss her cheek without she knowing why.

The next day she met again her angel when she was helping her grandmother to clean up the clothes near the river.

"Hey there."

"Eh, Mommy angel!" she almost jump when she heard her voice.

" What are you doing?" she look at the clothes in the basket.

"I was cleaning the clothes. Helping my grandmother. What are you doing here mommy angel?"

Her face turn sad after heard Hai Rin's replied. She smile faintly and replied.

"I was waiting for you. Do you need my help? Let me do it for you." she slide up her long sleeve shirt and hunkered on the banks of the river.

Reaching the clothes Hai Rin quickly said "Eh, mommy angel. I can do it. You sit there. This is my family's clothes. It's not good if you do it for me." she tried to stop her but she insisted on doing it.

Lastly Hai Rin just sit on the rock near her mommy angel and they have a casual chit chat.

Sometimes, her mommy angel will bring some toys for her and beautiful new clothes for her.

They spend time almost everyday at their meeting point. After a month, her mommy angel bring her violin and teach her how to play it.

When she play the violin, Hai Rin will dance and her mommy angel will laugh looking at her.

After three years, she notice her mommy angel's face keep getting paler everyday. When she help her brush her hair, a lot of her hair keep falling down.

"Mommy angel, why did you hair keep falling down when I brush it?"

"Heheh, that's because it will grow a new hair. That is why the old hair need to fall down, so the new hair will grow."

"Oh."

Day after day she suddenly skipping their meeting until the very last day they met.

That time it was heavily raining. She waiting at their waiting point in the middle of rain. It's been three week since last she saw her. She really miss her mommy angel.

After waiting for almost two hours suddenly her mommy angel shows up. But that time her mommy angel looks haggard. Her body looks skinny and her face look clove than usual.

She smile at her and kneeling before her. She hold both of her hand and with a gentle voice she said.

"Rin. I'm sorry for making you waiting for me. I'm so sorry I couldn't stay beside you forever." she slowly crying and sobbing.

Her body trembles and her voice become raspy.

"i can't protect you, I can't provide you a better life since I already make my promise. I really am sorry Rin. I am so useless." she keep on mumbles to herself while Hai Rin already soak with tears.

She didn't know why her heart feel ached seeing her mommy angel crying. She keep crying non stop. She also couldn't hear the word that her mommy angel said to her clearly.

Last that she know, her mommy angel hug her for a quite long time, kiss her forehead. Looking deep into her eyes she said.

"Take care of yourself. I love you..my dear Rin. This is my last good bye."

She ran out from the river and when she try to searching for her it's already too late.

She lost her track.
