Chapter 75 - Tell Me How Much Your Family Pays For Me?

An awkward silence filled the whole table, and Xia Sha enjoys every second of it. 

"Well, It's good to put the bad memories behind. What did young people like to say these days? Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery." Grandfather Xiao said the quotes in fluent English. 

"Yeah, there is absolutely nothing to revisit in the past." Xia Sha said lazily, looking slightly sideways.

"It's true you shouldn't live in the past. But you should learn from it." Xiao Zhan said tight smiles to Xia Sha. 

Xia Sha tilted her head. "Oh, Mr. Xiao, care to tell me what should I learn from my past?"

"Well, for example, you shouldn't easily trust someone and let them enter your life so easily." Xiao Zhan has turned her body and directly looked at Xia Sha with irritated looks.

"It's like how I trusted you and you-" 

"Alright, Alright, I know the two of you have a lot in common, don't say something that only the two of you understand." Grandfather Xia laughed, followed by everyone else in the room.

Grandfather Xia stop Xia Sha from turning the atmosphere awkward for the second time. Xia Sha glare at her grandfather. For how long he wanted to push her into this forced matchmaking. 

"How is Xiao Zhan in the company? I hope he didn't give you too much trouble." Father Xiao suddenly asked father Xia, who tends to look fed up at this table. 

"He is doing pretty well. Xia Sha is a good mentor, don't worry, Xiao-Jun." Xia Qi Feng makes Xiao Jun smile froze in one sentence. 

Not only indicating Xiao Zhan didn't have outstanding talent in management, but, He also bragging that his daughter is more capable than Xiao Zhan. 

Xia Sha pursed her lips to hold her laughter when she sees how fast uncle Xiao Jun's face fall and fake a smile again. 

"Aiya, A-Feng pampered on his daughter very much. His judgment is biased. How can a girl do better than a man at work?" Grandmother Xia said with embarrassed looks. 

She secretly glares at his son. 'What are you doing? We are trying to get help from the Xiao family!' 

"I believe the two of them could make a dynamic duo. Xia Sha, Xiao Zhan, our family future will be rest on your shoulder now." Grandfather Xiao said in a joking manner. But just like that, he has pressure Xia Sha who keeps showing resistance in her words.

His wrinkled eyes are vying at Xia Sha with kind looks, which hiding lots of meaning underneath. 

Everyone from the Xiao family is so blatant with their two meaning sentences. It's written so clearly on their faces the intention for coming tonight. 

They come here with a generous offer because of Xiao Zhan's heart for Xia Sha. 

"Okay. Let's cheer these two with a toast, To Xia Sha and Xiao Zhan!" Xiao Jun (Xiao Zhan's father) raised his glass of wine. 

"To Xia Sha and Xiao Zhan!" Everyone followed him, including Pang Ze Tian and Xia Xiang, who are just happy that someone could silence Xia Sha. 

The only person who did not raise her glass is Shen Xia Fei. She calmly sits on her seat while glaring at Xia Qi Feng across from her. Xia Qi Feng has wiped his face roughly than lean inwardly to his father. 

"Father, what is this?" He whispers with a jaw clenching. 

Xia Sha could see the anger in her father's eyes. It makes her felt a little bit better while she tried to surpass the demon, who just wanted to destroy everything in this dining room. 

"Xia Sha, don't you say you wanted to go to the restroom?" Grandfather Xia asked in a gentle tone while ignoring his son, which makes Xia Sha's stomach wanted to pour out everything right now. 

She coldly glanced at him and shook her head. 

"No, I didn't want to miss anything at the dinner table. Who knew you guys going to send me to human trafficker directly after this." Xia Sha said in between her forced smiles. 

"Xia Sha..." Xiao Zhan calls out her name with a begging tone. 

"What?!" Xia Sha didn't hesitate to snap at him in front of his family. 

Grandfather Xia massage his temple. He always knew Xia Sha has a bet temper, but he thought she could save some face for him, at least. But what is this? She looks like someone who didn't receive an education at all.

"Xiao Wu, So sorry, I have something to discuss with Xia Sha for a while. You guys should start dinner first without us." He smiles apologetically to his old friend and gestures for Xia Sha to follow him. 

Xiao Wu, Xiao Zhan's grandfather, nods his head with a knowing look. He has come prepared for the worst. Xiao Zhan has told him the whole situation about him and Xia Sha in the past, and how young master Guan is involved in this affair now. 

He didn't felt offended by how harsh Xia Sha reacted tonight. Instead, he appreciated that she stands up for herself rather than faking her smiles. 

"It's late. We should be going now." Father Xiao felt the situation is not conducive right now. By suggesting this, he is helping everyone to get out of these difficult situations. 

Xia Sha upfront told him that they couldn't discuss things with her right now. It's pointless for them to keep pushing Xia Sha to the corner like this. 

Grandmother Xia felt embarrassed and apologized to the Xiao family several times. Grandfather Xiao didn't want to make things harder and promised he would come again for a chess game tomorrow. 

Xiao Zhan is the last person to stand from his seat. He keeps looking at Xia Sha with an unreadable expression. In Xia Xiang's opinion, this handsome brother is so pitiful, and Xia Sha is very ungrateful. 

She should be happy someone wanted to help them with their current situations. Xia Sha is overreacting like usual. 

"There is nothing to discuss between the two of us. You should discuss things with the Xiao family right now. Should you two negotiating price right now?" Xia Sha plays dumb, looking back and forth at her grandfather and Grandfather Xiao. In the end, she turns to Xiao Zhan and shot him a question. 

"Xiao Zhan, while you are still in her, tell me how much your family pays for me?" 

"XIA SHA!" Grandfather Xia, for the first time, slam a glass into the wall behind Xia Sha. Everyone gasp and Xiao Zhan tried to push Xia Sha's body away.

However, Xia Sha did not even flinch. Instead, she smiles mockingly at her grandfather and hisses. 

"Awe, Grandfather, you should check your eyes. You miss!" She ridicule. 

Grandfather Xia gritted his teeth. He felt his blood is boiling whenever he heard Xia Sha's voice. "You! You! You-!" He is so angry that he fell in his chair. 

"How could I have a granddaughter like you?" Grandfather Xia frowned, glaring at Xia Sha coldly. 

"How can you sell your granddaughter for a mere fortune?" Xia Sha's jaw tightened. No more fake smile on her lips. The ridiculing she has on her eyes now turned into hatred. 

"Nobody thinks about money or the company. We all wanted the best for you. Why are you so stubborn?" Grandmother Xia speaks up for her husband. 

"The best for me? Do you think marrying a powerful family will be the best for me? Let me tell you what you think the best for me. You wanted me to marry the Xiao family and has Xiao Zhan managing the company since grandfather and grandmother look down on a woman!" 

She screams fearlessly. Her chest rise and fall as she tried to control the demon inside her. Five seconds of quietness and her grandfather nor her grandmother hasn't refuted her words. 

Xia Sha felt every breath she takes, little sharp needles pricked her. The pain starts to get unbearable and her body almost couldn't take it anymore. 

"I work so hard," she whispered, moving her gaze toward her grandfather. 

"I work so hard to prove I am capable of becoming your heir. I work so damn hard every day in the hope you someday could believe in me. I thought I finally earn your respect, I thought you are my biggest support system." Xia Sha paused when her grandfather opens his mouth slightly with a sad look. 

She waited for him to speaks. She hope. No, she begs him to say something, yells at her. Tell her that she is wrong, that this is just her rubbish assumptions. That he isn't like what she thinks he is doing now. 

But no, he didn't refute any of her words. 

"Xia Sha, grandfather is sorry." 

Her eyes look at all of the people in the room she calls family with hidden pain that starts resurrecting in the forms of tears.

"Why, Why you treat me like this?" She murmured. 

Surpassing the anger and disappointment on her heart make her body physically trembled. 

"Xia Sha, you are tired. Let's go home." Shen Xia Fei couldn't stand her daughter crying, directly pull Xia Sha into her embrace and escort her out. 

Xia Sha's weak body follows her mother's step slowly as tears couldn't stop falling down. 

"Mom, I want to sleep with you tonight." she pleased. 

"Of course you are coming with me. I wouldn't let you get bullied by these people again.." Shen Xia Fei said coldly.
