Chapter 112 - What If

"Thank you for your present. Since this is part of Xia Sha's gift, I'll accept this," Shen Xia Fei said after pondering for a long time. 

"Hmm," Xia Qi Feng answered lazily.

"Remember, I accept this because of the thought. There is no other meaning in this gesture!" Mother Shen reprimand fiercely. 

"Sure, sure, up to you," Xia Qi Feng answered curtly.

Xia Qi Feng keeps on his face straight, but Xia Sha knows that he is happy and satisfied with her choice to keep the gift. Xia Sha silently sighs. How more tsundere her father could be?

"Mom, let's wear it together and take a picture," Xia Sha said excitedly. She stood behind her mother and helped her put on the necklace before her mother could refute it. 

Ideally, she wanted Father Xia to that, but under their circumstances, for mother Shen to accept and willing to wear the gift from Xia Qi Feng is more than wonderous. 

Mother Shen looks hesitant but did not stop Xia Sha. 

"Mom, the necklace looks pretty on you. Right, dad?" Xia Sha tried to involved his father in her conversation with mother Shen. 

"Yeah, it does," Xia Qi Feng replied almost instantly as if he had always intended to say it. 

Shen Xia Fei's gaze falls on the jade necklace before she looks at Xia Qi Feng. Both of them used the unfathomable gaze that Xia Sha doesn't understand. 

But it's suffocating.

"Let's take a picture," Xia Sha smiled to end the awkwardness between them. She pulls out her phone from her bag and opens the front camera.

Mother Shen and Father Xia both lean inwardly to Xia Sha. They smile but look tense. Xia Sha tried to accept the resistance that both show. She is grateful enough that they willing to surpass their ego just for her.

Xia Sha widens her eyes and quickly reject Guan Xian and put down her phone. She felt her cheeks is getting hotter when her mother hold her laughter and Xia Qi Feng clear his throat. 

"..."

Where is the hole she dug to hide her face? 

"Your boyfriend is calling. Why don't you answer him first?" Mother Shen smiles slyly with that 'I understand you, been there, done that.' looks. 

"KFC is not enough? I don't know Guan Lin Yi's boy is a clingy type," Xia Qi Feng grumble lowly, looking sulky as he pressed his lips into dissatisfied lines. 

"What's wrong with being clingy? That is his way of showing his love for Xia Sha. I found it adorable," Shen Xia Fei snaps at Xia Qi Feng with a frown. 

"Xia Sha, don't listen to your father. Everything he said tastes bitter because he is a bitter man. A woman should be loved, there is no reason to stay in a bitter relationship." 

She glances at Xia Qi Feng in her last sentence, hinting that those words were meant for him. 

"You sound like there only bitterness in our relationship. We are very happy before, okay?" 

Xia Qi Fei's face darkened. He felt Shen Xia Fei's words is a personal attack on him. 

Although they divorced, she should acknowledge that they were a happy couple in the past. He used to be the one who makes her laugh. It's just because of the damn situation and his stupidity that ruined that laughter.

However, he does agree with her statement. He wanted Xia Sha to be loved and happy in her relationship. 

"Hmph!" Shen Xia Fei did not refute his statement. But she glares at Xia Qi Feng with a stabbing glare. Xia Qi Feng froze before he decided to succumb to his ex-wife. 

"But your mother is right like she always right. She is never wrong. Rule number one, make sure you also make Guan Xian understand this principle."

"Forget it, I'll tell him myself," he added after pondering for a moment. 

Xia Sha laughed at his father's helpless face. Shen Xia Fei look satisfied and finally decided to drop this topic. She nodded her head and pulled them into a group hug. 

"We are very happy in the past, and we also will be happy in the future," she grinned. 

"Hm, we will," Shen Xia Fei said with a gentle voice. 

"You should be happy. I'll make sure the Guan family heir line end here if he ever makes you sad," father Xia murmured with his usual frosty aura. 

Shen Xia Fei shook her head in disapproval.

"Guan Xian is such a good man. He understands Xia Sha and dotes on her. Why are you so mean to him? You are talking as if you are a good man," Shen Xia Fei scoffed.

"Alright, Alright, I'm going to pick his call. You two can be lovely Dovey for all you want, okay?" Xia Sha excuses herself and heads out with her phone. 

Although she got a slight headache from her parents, a smile lingers on her face. Her phone only stops vibrating for one minutes before Guan Xian's name appears on her call log. Without hesitating, she answers his call with enthusiasm. 

"It's you, isn't it?" 

"Whoa, what indict did you talking? I received nothing from my lawyer," Guan Xian playful voice suddenly sounds so melodious in her ears. 

"There is no way my father could take the initiative, and my mother willing to come without interference from others," she said with excitement. 

Guan Xian wrinkled his nose and tilted his head. Why does Xia Sha need to be so smart when she didn't need to be smart? 

"Are you happy?" he asked since he couldn't hide it anymore. 

Xia Sha looked down to the ground and played with her skirt. The corner of her eyes glances at the VIP ward, where she could hear her mother talking with her father. For a second, she could felt back the feeling she has a longing for years.

Are you happy?

She felt so happy that she might burst as a firework exploded in the dark sky. And yet, more than happy, she has learned something more important today. 

"Thank you for doing this, I-" She stops and bites her lips. 

"You love me? Please, I knew that already," Guan Xian teased her from the other side. Xia Sha rolls her eyes and about to refute when she heard a series of laughter and cursing from his side. 

It's so loud and distracting. 

She furrowed her eyebrow. Her smiles disappear slowly. 

"Sounds like you are having a lot of fun there. Partying with your mafia friends?" She said with an interrogating tone. 

The cheerful and shy tone she carried before changed. She has become as cold as ice in a split of a second. Guan Xian got chills as he looks at his lively surrounding. He is indeed in the middle of a party.

"How could you know that I have a mafia friend? Wait, do you also knew that his father is my mother's ex?" He sounds passionate about talking about his mother's ex.

If Xia Sha hasn't spent two weeks full with him, she wouldn't realize that this is one of his tricks to divert her attention. Her hand curled into a fist as she tried to surpass the uncomfortable feeling bottle up inside her. 

"You, this is a warning. Don't you dare cheat on me. I swear I would-"

"Hold your horses, woman!" He scoffed. 

"Don't you worry, I will make the appointment with the doctor myself if I dare to cheat on you. Geez, you should've your imaginative brain for another purpose. Okay, I need to do something now, call you again later~" He hurriedly closed his phone without waiting for Xia Sha's answer. 

The gentle smile on Xia Sha's heart vanished that instant. Endless possibilities of him breaking her heart appear on her mind. At some point, she believes that he wouldn't do that to her, but still, her mind subconsciously making speculations. 

What if.

Those 'what if' started to haunted her heart as she walks back to the ward. Feeling anxious and awful inside, she had a hard time forcing a smile on her face. But with her mother and father inside the same room celebrating her birthday, she tried to count her blessing to chase away the bad feelings. 

However, the worse thing appears in front of the door. 

She must have been getting too much happiness these days that bad things happen on her birthday. Xia Sha sighed desperately. She takes precautions and waited for her help to arrive before she pushes the desperate woman to stand before the door. 

"Pang Ze Tian, you are unwelcomed here. My father does not wish to see you right now. Go away!"

Pang Ze Tian fall to the ground and hurt her hand. She raised her bleeding arm before shifting her disbelief gaze at Xia Sha.

"Y-You!" She wanted to scream and make a ruckus. 

Xia Sha looks down on her and tears her dress, ripping it into ugly pieces. 

"My father will despise your appearance right now. You better go home before my father realized how ugly you are, not to mention how he has been reminded of my beautiful mother."

Pang Ze Tian glared at her with hatred. She got up and shamelessly wanted to knock on the VIP ward door, but Xia Sha once again pushes her to the ground. She falls for the second time. 

"Xia Sha!" Pang Ze Tian gnash her teeth, looked like a furious hen. 

Xia Sha smirked. It's not like she didn't know it's her plan from the start to cause trouble and make Xia Qi Feng defended her in front of Shen Xia Fei. That would break Xia Sha's heart and hate her father even more. 

Usually, she likes to play along with her scheme before pushing her to the pit. But before Pang Ze Tian could speak another word, two security appear and pull her from Xia Sha's sight. They even prepared a handkerchief to prevent her from shouting. 

Xia Sha glance at her horrific face coldly. 

She wouldn't act so harsh but pardon her. She is in a bad mood.. And the last thing she wants to see is a third party.
