Chapter 114 - Mafia Party

Xia Sha and Xiao Zhan rushed to Zheng Shuang's apartment as soon as they parked the car. Xia Sha has been thinking of a good sentence to apologize to Kai Xin and Zheng Shuang. 

She is slightly embarrassed. She almost ditched her friend when she knew they are planning to celebrate her birthday tonight. Should she buy their favorite donut before she came?

But they would get angrier if she comes even later than now. 

Sigh, in the end, she chooses to prepare her ears and treat them to dinner tomorrow. Zheng Shuang's apartment is on the top of the building. It's a condominium as well as their base camp since high school years. 

Xia Sha pressed the six-digit lock pin at the safety door and open the door with a big grin. She is prepared to hear scolding from Zheng Shuang and Kai Xin, but no one is here. It's all pitch black as she walks to Zheng Shuang's room. 

"Hello? Anybody home?" She yells as she turns on the lamp. 

Xiao Zhan calmly followed her from behind while Xia Sha is eager to find Zheng Shuang and Kai Xin.

"Did they fall asleep because they waited too long?" She murmured to herself as she opens the pitch-black bedroom. 

"Or they might leave," Xiao Zhan nonchalantly added from behind. 

"Impossible, they are both loyal friends. I refuse to believe your word," Xia Sha sniffed at Xiao Zhan.

Xiao Zhan chuckled lowly before leaving her alone in the bedroom. He walks extra carefully, so she won't notice that he went away. However, Xia Sha quickly notices that Xiao Zhan has gone to the living room again. 

She glanced at the neat, untouched bed and smirked. This type of trick could not fool her. It's so clear that they prepared a surprise party for her. They do this every year (before she got together with Ling Guang and distance herself with them, of course) that it's not even surprising anymore. 

Xia Sha giggles and calmly walk to the living room. 

"Are we still playing this lame game?" she asked with expecting voices. 

As she has thought, the living room lamp has turned off again, and Xiao Zhan is nowhere to be found, a sign that they are hiding there in the first place. She peeked behind the wall to spot Zheng Shuang and Kai Xin's hiding spot.

It could be funny if she spotted them before they jumped out from their rabbit holes. She narrowed her eyes to every corner of the living room, a little giggle escape from someone's mouth. She smirked. 

"I heard your giggles," she teased them. 

"You heard nothing!" Someone expectedly answered. 

Xia Sha laughed and shook her head. 

"Zheng Shuang! How could you-"

She could never finish her when a candlelit up in the middle of the room. From that little source of light, she could see the beautiful cake in the care of a big hand. 

A big than that supposed to be in Italy, throwing a party with his mafia friend!

G-Guan Xian is here! He is here, holding her cake! 

She gasped and closed her mouth with her hand. The exact moment where everyone jumped out and cheered, "Surprise!" 

Guan Xian is charming with his usual grin as he approached her with the cake, "Happy birthday, baby!" 

He pulls her into his embrace and kissed her forehead. Xia Sha reminds dumbstruck-speechless when he places the cake in front of her. She could hear Xiao Ni, Xiao Zhan, Zheng Shuang, Kai Xian, Fu Qun, Tang Yu Bin, and even Xiao Ni's shadow bodyguard singing happy birthday to her.

"Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday, happy birthday. Happy birthday to you!" They sing before the familiar party song filled the whole room.

Xia Sha was stunned. It is the noisy, chaotic song she heard before when she call Guan Xian in the restaurant. Turn out, this is the Mafia party he is talking about...

She is grateful and happy about that, but she has a hard time believing this man is standing in front of her. 

"Make a wish!" Guan Xian's hoarse voice pulls her back to reality. 

Xia Sha blinked as she observed his face. 

"You are here?" she raised her eyebrow and poked his cheek. Her fingertip brushed his five o'clock shadow felt tingling when he nodded his head. She did not imagine things. 

"I am here. I did not cheat with an Italian woman in a mafia party," he joked and laugh. His laughter lightens up the heaviness in her heart but irritates her soul at the same time. 

"Boss flight is scheduled tomorrow. We lied to you from the start," Fu Qun chimed in from behind. 

"Fu Qun! Who is your boss again?" She glares at Fu Qun while he quickly hides behind Tang Yu Bin. 

"Sorry Boss! They bribe me for today! I'll be loyal to you tomorrow!" 

"..."

"Hehehe, I'm so smart, right? Do you think I would miss your first birthday as my girlfriend only to fool around in mafia party?" Guan Xian murmured with a fake sad face.

Xia Sha stared at Guan Xian's dark brown eyes that alight with mischievousness right now. 

"Look at me being such a good boyfriend. You did not even prepare a gift for my birthday yesterday!" He sulks a bit. 

Slightly felt guilty, Xia Sha lips twitched. 

"I did not ask you to prepare a party and gift for me," she mumbles while look at the ground. Guan Xian is smiling when he caught her stealing glances at him. 

"But what do you want?" 

"Are you sure you are asking that?" he sounds more excited than before as if he had caught him on his trap. 

"A kiss then! I want a kiss as your punishment for not doing your duty properly!"

Xia Sha's face darkened while the crowd booed at Guan Xian. 

"Get a room, you two!" The same shout from the same person who has said it before. Xiao Ni.

"Tsk, lame," she scoffed and pursed her lips. She peeks at the people behind his big body, even though she has heard their voice before. Zheng Shuang is standing behind Xiao Ni. 

"That is Xiao Ni's giggles, not mine!" Zheng Shuang quickly clarifies before Xia Sha could bash her.

"Pardon her. We always act like we did not hear her giggles whenever she tried to surprised us. I realized we've spoiled her rotten," Guan Xian has turned to Xiao Ni with a helpless face too. 

"Well, I never have a real friend that bother to surprise me before. I was excited," She pouted. 

"I'm glad you found a real friend now," Xia Sha teased Xiao Ni, whose cheek has blushed as she averted her gaze all over the room. 

They started as an enemy, now she dated her brother and has her coming over to her birthday party. Xia Sha thinks she is making huge progress with Xiao Ni. 

"I'm also glad you found a capable boyfriend now. Do you know how embarrassing he look when he had to whin-, HMPH!" 

Guan Xian has run as fast as thunder and closed Xiao Ni's mouth with his palm. He grinned nervously and tried to hold the cake with one hand. 

"Carry on the party, make your wish! Ignore Xiao Ni," he said. 

Xia Sha felt closer to everyone when they erupted into laughter because of Xiao Ni. As Guan Xian wished, Kai Xin and Zheng Shuang pushed her gently to the cake, asking Xia Sha to make a wish and blow the candle. 

In one night, Xia Sha has seen the little flame for the second time. Before, with her mother and father, she felt confused and at loss for what she wanted on her twenty-three birthday. 

But now, with everyone in this room smiling at her while she closed her eyes and chant her wish inside. She suddenly got a new purpose for her life. 

The past is in the past. There is nothing Xia Sha could do to rewind the time. She has been dwelling in the past to feel the same happiness she used to have. 

But she got it wrong all along. 

With those sparkling dark eyes watching her every movement and cheer from her friend, she felt content and happy. She did not felt suffocated. 

She opens her eyes and blows the little flame gently. A beautiful smile lingers on her face when she watches the flames turn into soft smokes and finally disappear into a thin air. 

That the first time she look at the cake clearly. From the side, it's beautifully white cake with stawberry as the decoration, there is nothing weird from the side. 

But on the top...

How can she put it. 

THAT IS A CAKE WITH KFC CHICKEN PICTURE ON THE TOP OF IT.

That is also when she see many bucket of KFC in the coffee table. It supposed to be the birthday dish?

Xia Sha's face color become pale before she glare at Guan Xian fiercely. 

"GUAN XIAN WHEN WILL YOU STOP WITH THIS KFC MADNESS" Her shouted ended the party that night.
