“Besides, you said that you have fallen for me. That makes things even more dangerous,” said Ji Fanyin. “You liked Ji Xinxin but couldn’t attain her; that’s why you had me play her stand-in. Now that you no longer harbor feelings for her, there’s no need to continue our business transactions anymore.”
Even though she could earn more money and further stab Song Shiyu’s heart by continuing this business relationship, that would be playing with fire. There was a risk that he might just cast aside all reason and pull off something extreme, just like how he had kidnapped ‘Ji Fanyin’ in the alternate future.
Other than that, she had two other considerations.
Firstly, even though she hadn’t been trying to tame Song Shiyu, the latter had confessed that his feelings had moved on to her. Given so, she could put him back into Ji Xinxin’s fishery as a powerful ticking time bomb.
Unlike Bai Zhou, Song Shiyu hadn’t fallen out with Ji Xinxin yet. The two of them could still continue playing together for a long time to come.
Secondly, even if everything Song Shiyu said was true, it would mean that his family had indeed started to matchmake him. This might just be the first time, but there would surely be a second time, a third time and many more. Men and women have vastly different attitudes toward marriage. There was no saying when he might suddenly get engaged or married one day.
Ji Fanyin didn’t think that there was any need to soil herself.
I might as well just squeeze one last harvest out of him and wave him bye-bye.
Song Shiyu suddenly calmed down at this juncture. He interlocked his fingers and slowly spoke, “Aren’t you doing this for money? Since that’s the case, the only thing that should matter to you is that I continue paying you. It’s none of your business why I’m looking for you.”
Ji Fanyin didn’t answer his question.
In truth, she had already updated the app. All she had to do now was to log in to the administrative portal and remove Song Shiyu’s account. Everything would be over then.
The invitation she had previously sent to Song Shiyu had already expired. Unless she sent him a new invitation, he would never be able to access the reservation app again.
But to avoid excessively agitating him, Ji Fanyin glanced at her watch and asked, “It’s about time. Do you still want to continue with today’s reservation?”
“Of course,” replied Song Shiyu with a smile. He hadn’t managed to fully adjust his mood yet, so his usual graceful smile looked awfully superficial. “Otherwise, I’d be giving Bai Zhou a free treat if he happens to pass by again.”
Ji Fanyin felt that Song Shiyu was thinking too much into it.
Bai Zhou was indeed her number one client now after her agreement with Mrs. Bai, which effectively tripled any earnings she made from him. There was no better money tree than that.
However!
Ji Fanyin would never work for free, not even if it was a request from her number one client!
She just wanted to get a day of paid leave from Song Shiyu, but since the client insisted on proceeding ahead, she had no choice but to get into work mode.
Yes, Ji Xinxin mode.
While the client’s needs had changed, this project was designed to cater to his previous needs. It was his own personal reasons that affected the deal, so naturally, he ought to be the one bearing the consequences.
There was a hint of curiosity and terror in the waiter’s eyes when he finally built up courage to approach the two customers. The tension between the couple seemed to have dissipated, but somehow, the air of amiability between them felt even more unnerving. It was to the point that he quickly ran away as soon as he confirmed the order.
He seriously wondered if those two were suffering from dissociative identity disorder.
Ji Fanyin and Song Shiyu had an unhappening meal till 1 PM.
While they were making their way out of the restaurant, Ji Fanyin noticed a rowdy group in the shopping mall on the floor beneath. It was a group filled with Westerners, though there was a Chinese woman standing amongst them—Ji Xinxin.
Song Shiyu was still in the midst of footing the bill, so Ji Fanyin continued to watch them from the entrance of the restaurant. She wasn’t worried about getting caught by Ji Xinxin. If anything, she was hoping that Ji Xinxin would notice her.
She wondered how Ji Xinxin would react upon realizing that Song Shiyu was going to escape from her fishery.
Ji Xinxin still doesn’t know that her frontlines are crumbling. Should I at least tip her off through Song Shiyu first?
