When Ji Xinxin heard about Ji Fanyin’s pending visit from Li Mingyue, apart from being shocked, her first reaction was to protect her stomach. “Why?”
“Do you really need to ask?” Li Mingyue countered.
Ji Xinxin did not retort.
After all, she was merely asking out of shock.
Why else would Ji Fanyin visit? Of course it was for Li Xiaoxing.
When Ji Xinxin told Li Xiaoxing about Ji Fanyin’s true identity, a wave of satisfaction for successfully exacting her revenge had washed over her. It was as though all her pain and sufferings she had endured all these time were released with her words and duly transferred onto Li Xiaoxing.
Furthermore, as per what she had imagined, the Li Family had granted her special privileges after finding out she was pregnant with Li Xiaoxing’s child. However, there are two sides to a coin. Together with the privileges came the cold treatment and confinement.
Ever since Ji Xinxin revealed Ji Fanyin’s transmigration to Li Xiaoxing, she had been put through a series of interrogation by Li Xiaoxing the moment he regained consciousness.
Even though he was still immobilized, he had regained his sanity.
Under the supervision of Li Mingyue and Secretary Fan, he was able to extract most of the information he would like to know from Ji Xinxin.
However, there was one thing Ji Xinxin kept mum about, the dream. She focused on the point that Ji Fanyin’s body was taken over by another soul and even listed a multitude of evidence.
Coincidentally, what she said coincided with what Li Mingyue knew.
It was only after the interrogation did Li Xiaoxing finally agree to attend the psychiatric consultation and receive treatment.
That was also when Ji Xinxin found out her freedom had been constricted.
Not only was her area of activity limited to the hospital, her phone calls were also monitored. She had to declare whoever she communicated with on the phone to the Li Family and was not given the freedom to act on her own. To make things worse, an assistant was assigned to shadow her at all times. All of these were done under the pretext of keeping her safe while she nursed her pregnancy.
Moreover, the issue of marriage had never been brought up.
The only thing Ji Xinxin had was the non-legally binding title of Li Xiaoxing’s fiancée.
Coupled with Li Xiaoxing’s child in her womb, it was basically impossible for her to change a partner even if she wanted to.
But giving up on this child was something Ji Xinxin had never considered.
She would walk down this path she chose to the very end.
“When is she coming?” Ji Xinxin asked obediently.
“She will inform me when she has decided on the time.” Li Mingyue looked at her and said, “... She wanted me to pass her regards to you.”
Ji Xinxin bit the tip of her tongue. She could sense the mockery of the victor from that simple ‘greeting’.
To invite Ji Fanyin to visit Li Xiaoxing, not only had the Li Family lowered their stature, they had sent Li Mingyue to pay a personal visit.
What about her? The one carrying Li Xiaoxing’s baby was her! But she was still being treated like an outsider by them.
She swallowed the blood in her mouth and forced a smile, “She is not my sister.”
“My brother and I have seen your sister’s diary. I know you are still keeping something from us.” Li Mingyue took out a cigarette from her pocket but did not light it. “But it’s alright. The most important thing for you right now is to safely give birth to that child.”
Ji Xinxin cradled her stomach. Since she was still in the early stages of her pregnancy, her belly had not shown yet. Coupled with her recent weight loss, it was even harder to tell she was pregnant with a child.
“It will be good if you can successfully give birth to that child. That way, my mother will get off my back to marry someone.” Li Mingyue raised the cigarette to her lips and walked out of the ward, waving as she did. “Take good care of the fetus.”
