The couple departed to the mine site after they had their breakfast. The mine was located in A City, which was quite a distance away from City F. The two of them stopped for lunch before they arrived on the mine.
"Boss." The driver, An Lin, greeted and was about to open the door for Yu Yan when Long Ying raised his hand. He then watched as Long Ying personally opened the door for Yu Yan.
An Lin: "…" alright, I should have known that Boss wants to pamper Madam by himself.
Yu Yan looked at Long Ying with surprise. "You don't have to open the door by yourself."
"I want to."
"But…"
"Come on, we're going to see the mine, aren't we?" Long Ying didn't give Yu Yan any time to protest as he grabbed her hand and guided her inside.
Feeling the warmth of Long Ying's hand, Yu Yan's face turned slightly red. She was still not used to this but thinking that the two of them were already married anyway, it shouldn't be that weird to hold hands. With that in thought, she followed Long Ying to the mine.
The mine was categorized to be open mine, which mean that it looked more like a crater than cave. There were a lot of machinery working along with several people there. It looked quite busy but in truth, it was far less than what a big mine have.
Yu Yan had come here when she was young and the place hadn't changed that much from her memory. In fact, it looked like the workers had decreased even more than what she remembered.
"Miss!" a worker recognized Yu Yan.
Yu Yan nodded. "I'm only looking around since I rarely come here. Is Manager Wu here?"
"Manager Wu is down there. Would you like to wait or come inside?" the worker asked respectfully.
"I'll head down, then."
"Alright. Please be careful, Miss."
Listening to their conversation made Long Ying slightly confused. He thought that Yu Yan was not treated well by her family but it seemed that the workers here still respected her. This made him wonder if there was something he didn't know about Yu Family.
'Was it related to her grandfather?'
Long Ying narrowed his eyes. He knew that this mine used to belong to Yu Yan's grandfather, but he didn't know the details. Her grandfather had two different mines and chose to distribute the profit share after his death and didn't give the mine to one single person.
This was what caused Kang family to have internal dispute from time to time. As one of the quite well off family, Kang Family was also quite rich thanks to these two mines. Yu Yan's grandfather had three children, one son and two daughters, but not a single one of them liked to manage the mine.
In the end, it was the two daughter's husbands who usually took care of the mines' matter the most.
Yu Zheng Tong married the youngest daughter, Kang Mao Lan, and had been profiting greatly. After all, his business moved in the field of accessory and diamonds were extremely valuable as jewelries. His marriage helped him to reduce the cost of buying the raw materials.
As for he himself, he was the only son of ordinary businessman who was on the verge of bankruptcy. It was only because of his marriage did he manage to gain overwhelming success in the industry and become the backbone of Yu Family, pushing it forward.
"Miss Yu!"
Yu Yan turned her head and smiled when she saw the middle aged man. He was the manager who was in charge of this mine, but Yu Yan rarely greeted him with his title unless she was searching for him. "Old Wu! Did I come at the wrong time?"
"Of course not!" the middle aged man, Old Wu, laughed heartily. He was already in his forties to fifties, but he still looked very energetic. "You're welcome to come at any time. This mine is yours, so naturally you're allowed to come!"
"Thank you, Old Wu."
Old Wu smiled warmly. His eyes landed on the man standing by Yu Yan's side. "And this is…?"
"Old Wu, this is my husband, Long Ying." Yu Yan smiled.
"Long?" Old Wu thought for a moment then smiled. He had heard about Long Family, one of the most prominent family in this country, but he never heard anyone with the name Long Ying. It might just be similar surname since similar pinyin could mean different words.
"Hello," Long Ying greeted briefly. He was still keeping his distance and chose to observe his wife longer.
Old Wu nodded then looked at Yu Yan. He chided, "You little lass, why didn't you tell me when you get married, ah? I want to come to your wedding party!"
