Raising her eyebrows, she waited for Xiao Han Yu's answer.
But the answer was outside of Yu Yan's expectation.
"Oh, she might be no longer part of Yu Family, but I still recognize her as my niece." Xiao Han Yu then looked at Kang Mao Lan with an expression 'What are you going to do with it?'
Kang Mao Lan's face turned pale. She looked at Xiao Han Yu with disbelief. Why would her sister in law favored her useless daughter to the point of defending her and inviting her to this grand party? Why? There was no merit in keeping someone like Yu Yan any closer.
On the other hand, Yu Xin gritted her teeth. She was thinking of using this party to restore her image and also to connect with many other rich people. But why would her aunt suddenly support her sister? She couldn't believe that such thing happened to her right now.
Why?
Why would good things even occurred to Yu Yan, that unworthy b*tch that should have been trampled on by others?
Yu Yan looked at her aunt and smiled faintly. "Thank you for your invitation and kindness, Aunt Xiao."
Xiao Han Yu smiled and waved her hand. "San Hai is looking for you. You youngsters should talk more with each other."
"Thank you, Aunt."
As Yu Yan walked with Long Ying following behind her, the other guests had started to talk with each other in low voice. It seemed that they were trying to figure out why Xiao Han Yu was willing to get close to this woman, whose reputation was not exactly good.
Filial piety has always an important matter in their society.
And seeing a daughter that could even go against her parent's words then it went as far as dragging her own sister's reputation to the mud. Who would actually want to be close with her?
But this Xiao Han Yu was actually willing.
Long Ying raised his head and glanced at the young woman who stood not far from Xiao Han Yu. His lips sneered. That Xiao Lin really couldn't keep her mouth shut. He really should teach her a lesson to make sure that she didn't spout nonsense.
However, having the Kang Family Head (The current family head is the first son of Kang Shu Jiang, who is Kang Mao Lan and Kang Mao Yao's brother) supporting Yu Yan was not that bad. It would be harder for his woman if everyone was trying to antagonist her.
Kang Mao Lan gnashed her teeth. She tried to stay calm and composed in front of Xiao Han Yu. "First Sister in law, are you… serious?"
"Why not?" Xiao Han Yu merely answered that way then turned around. "Enjoy the party."
She didn't even greet Yu Xin, who was standing silently beside Kang Mao Lan. Even though Yu Xin was Kang Mao Lan's daughter, it was as if Xiao Han Yu only recognized Yu Yan and not Yu Xin.
This realization made some people looked in their direction with weird expression. Some of them who knew the incident a few months prior began to connect the dot and felt that the matter might not be that simple. There might be something else that had occurred in the Yu Family.
Hmm, prominent family was always so complicated.
Can't they just simply have normal relationship? Heh, when money was put into equitation, it had become too hard and for this rich people, loving children so much was too hard as many of them only have political relationship.
They loved themselves too much to share the love with other people.
Yu Xin's body trembled. She could clearly feel that the gaze of the people around her was not that kind to her anymore. They were close to her when her mother introduced her as Xiao Han Yu's niece. But now that they had seen Xiao Han Yu didn't even care to her, why would they try to get close to her?
There was no benefit.
'Damn that Yu Yan! If only we're not in public, I would want to rip her to shreds!' Yu Xin nearly screamed out loudly. She tried to keep her composure and took a glass of wine to calm herself down, feeling that she was truly unlucky.
Xiao Han Yu naturally didn't pay them any attention. She merely looked at Xiao Lin, who came here to represent Xiao Family.
"Did I do great, Miss Xiao?"
"Hmm, having good relationship with him and his wife is a good thing to do." Xiao Lin smiled. "It'll benefit you more than me."
Xiao Han Yu nodded. While she didn't understand why Xiao Lin would advise her that much, she knew that Long Ying might have different identity. All they knew about him was that he was an unemployed man and there was no record of him even attending university.
He only graduated high school before completely disappeared from the public view. They could only regard him as an unemployed man who couldn't even do his work well and thus relied simply on his inheritance money that he might get from his family.
His family background was also unclear, though.
"Is he really that important?" Xiao Han Yu tried to probe.
Xiao Lin played with the glass in her hand and a cold smile formed on the corner of her lips. "I can only tell you that he's more dangerous than me."
Xiao Han Yu's smile faltered for a second. As someone who knew Xiao Lin's real identity and position within Xiao Family, she naturally understood that this kind of praise was not one that Xiao Lin would ever utter carelessly.
It meant that this was real.
'Just who is that man to make even Xiao Lin careful when dealing with him?' Xiao Han Yu was curious but she also knew her place. In Xiao Family, she worth nothing, so she had to tread carefully.
While Xiao Lin and Xiao Han Yu were having a talk together, Yu Yan had walked away with Long Ying. Her eyes were scanning the crowd before she caught the sight of Kang San Hai with his brother, Kang San Hao. Kang San Hai was smiling and treating the guests politely while Kang San Hao merely stood there like a statue.
"Cousin Kang San Hai!" Yu Yan greeted.
Kang San Hai immediately turned his head around. His smile turned wider. "Oh, if it's not Cousin Yu Yan! Just call me by my name, Hahaha! I didn't expect you to come here even though Mother invited you."
Yu Yan arched her eyebrows. "Aunt Xiao invited me, so of course I have to come. Why wouldn't I come?"
"Now that you have come here, do you still remember my story from before? Apparently there's another thing that happened lately and it's even in the party that…."
Hearing Kang San Hai began his gossips spree again, Yu Yan could only put on an awkward smile. She knew that her cousin was a chatterbox but she didn't expect to experience it again right after she met with the other party.
Long Ying was standing beside Yu Yan and glanced at Kang San Hao. His eyes squinted slightly as he recognized the other party. "It's been awhile, Officer Kang."
Kang San Hao nodded. He obviously also recognized Long Ying. Even though Long Ying had purposely used eye contacts to change his pupils' color, how could he not recognize the man whose face was posted in the military as one of the few most dangerous person. They were ordered to keep an eye to him to make sure that he didn't break the law openly.
"I see that it's not just similar name."
Long Ying smiled faintly. "My name might be common but I don't think your cousin will get close with just anybody, would she?"
Kang San Hao refused to reply and looked at his cousin. It was no wonder that his mother decided to invite these two to the party so suddenly. With Long Ying's real identity, they would be seeking death if they offended him.
"Cousin San Hao." Yu Yan noticed Kang San Hao looked at her and hurriedly greeted, "It's nice to meet you again."
"Mhm." Kang San Hao was not a man of many words. Even in the military, his brothers often teased him about it but they only managed to make him utter short sentences most of the time. His sentences were always so concise that it made them wondered whether he was actually a normal human or not.
Well, they simply termed him as an antisocial person.
Kang San Hai slapped his brother's shoulder. "Well, just ignore this ice cube! Did you prepare gifts for Mother? I bet that you prepare something valuable!"
"I left it outside along with other gifts from the other guests." Yu Yan smiled. "With your family's security, I'm sure no one will dare to tamper with it."
"Hey, you haven't told me what you give to Mother!"
