Chapter 164 - Reunification! Korea: All Out Attack on Beijing!

December 26, 2020, 22:55 (China Standard Time 21:55), the X-2 bunker, Beijing Province area, China

Xi Jin Ping and his party had taken the next elevator to reach the surface grounds. The 200 Central Political Commission members, bodyguards, and General Chiu Ji Liang Ji were running toward the suburb of Beijing. The armored vehicles and sedans they intended to take were all destroyed by the Korean special forces. All they could rely on now were their own two legs.

Gasp! Pant! Gasp!

President Xi, who obviously lacked exercise, stopped to gasp for breath after running about 100 meters.

“President Xi! We must leave this area. Just a little bit farther and the chopper will take us out of here, sir.”

Luckily they were able to reach the Capital Defense Division and had sent out transport and attack choppers to their location. However, they had to leave the area for their own safety before the choppers arrived.

“I can’t go any farther. Please, let’s just walk.”

“President Xi, please, sir . . . Just a little bit more.”

Suddenly, the sounds of gunshots and laser beams came from behind them.

“Protect the President! The bodyguards will hold this position.”

Shu Lungun, the Captain of the guards, shouted and pulled out his pistol.

“Captain, hold them off, no matter what!”

“Yes, General. Leave it to me, and please hurry.”

Captain Shu Lungun answered shortly and began to run to the rear with his men.

“Mr. President! Run! The Korean special forces are on our tail.”

“Okay!” the President answered, panting.

President Xi, who earlier had been ignoring General Chiu’s words, must have wanted to survive desperately that day for he ran as fast as he could without looking back. The 100 or so politicians and military commanders followed behind him.

Pew~ pew pew pew pew~

Boom! Bang!

Whenever the white beams of lights came pouring down, the bodyguards all fell, clutching their chest or stomach. The area was mostly dark, and since the Chinese guards did not have any night-vision equipment, they were no match to the Korean special forces equipped with protective suits, black uniforms, and night-vision helmets.

The difference between firepower was considerable as well. Some 30mm smart grenades exploded above the heads of the Chinese bodyguards who were hiding behind building walls or roads. The men fell down bleeding from the explosion. The 60mm plasma pressure grenades, with its explosive power capable of blowing up an armored vehicle, wiped out the rest.

Colonel Oh Yong-gil, Commander of the 1st Aerial and Land Forces Battalion, checked the small screen on his left arm. One hundred 100 life signs in red dots were moving farther away from them at their eleven o’clock. Colonel Oh Yong-gil judged they must be Xi Jin Ping and his company.

“Heavy weapons company! This is the Battalion Commander!”

This is Heavy Weapons Company Commander Lee Won-il, comrade Commander!

“Check the digital map! Your eleven o’clock, 600 meters ahead of you. See those red dots?”

Yes, sir, I see them.

“Rain down the 60mm pressure grenades on that location. Understood?”

-Yes, comrade Commander!

Company Commander Lee Won-il ordered his men to fire their K-15 grenade launchers after he finished speaking with the Battalion Commander. The operators of the K-15 got into their positions and fired their 60mm plasma pressure grenades at a 35-degree angle.

Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!

With a clear launching sound, the 20 rounds of 60mm plasma pressure grenades flew forward in an arc. Powerful explosions rang out 600 meters in front of them.

Boom! Bang!

President Xi was using all his might to run when his ears began ringing and his body floated into the air. He was tossed to the side of the road. President Xi, who rolled in a pool of mud from the melting snow, believed he must have been dreaming.

It did not take long for President Xi to realize he was not dreaming. The most powerful man in China had never thought things would come to this, where he was covered in mud on the ground on this cold winter night. However, the cold mud on his fat cheeks reminded him this was not a dream but a reality.

“Mr. President! Are you all right?”

The explosion made President Xi’s ears ring, and he could faintly hear someone calling out to him.

“Mr. President, are you hurt, sir?”

General Chiu Ji Liang Ji, who was older than the president, was helping him walk while looking around for other threats. President Xi, who regained his consciousness shook his head and answered the General.

“I am fine. I was just thrown off by the bomb’s explosion.”

“We must run, sir. We are almost there.”

General Chiu pointed in one hand while pulling out his pistol with his other.

“You need to come with me, General.”

“You go on ahead, sir. I will follow.”

President Xi, who was covered in dirt from head to toe, including his coat, looked at General Chiu Ji Liang Ji and shed a tear. Where did things go wrong? He wiped his tears with his sleeve and began to run again. The surviving politicians all followed behind him as well.

Boom, Bang! Boooom!

Moments later, another explosion and pillars of flames came from where General Chiu Ji Liang Ji was standing. However, President Xi did not look back and continued running.

After running for 5 minutes, the sounds of choppers could be heard, and 20 helicopters appeared while flashing their red lights.

The politicians running behind President Xi all waved their hands and shouted, and the transport choppers landed. The 4 WZ-10 attack choppers in charge of escorting the others to safety began to fire their 57mm rockets and 30mm Vulcans at the 1st Aerial and Land Force Battalion giving chase.

The Korean special forces stopped their pursuit when the Chinese WZ-10 attack choppers appeared. All they could do now was retaliate while taking cover. No matter how powerful the protective suits were, there was no guarantee it could protect them from the 30mm Vulcan rounds or 57mm rockets.

“Hide, find cover!”

The WZ-10 chopper’s fierce attack on the surface with their TY-90 missiles made the men of the 1st battalion take cover and stop in their tracks. The men retaliated while taking cover like the veterans they were, and fired their weapons to the attack chopper. Normally an attack chopper would be immune to attacks from conventional rifles, but the 5mm laser beams were powerful enough to pierce through 18mm steel from 3,000 meters away.

The Chinese WZ-10 attack choppers must have thought the weapons the Korean special forces had were conventional firearms and hovered to attack them. When hundreds of laser beams flew toward the WZ-10 attack chopper, it was torn apart and crashed while spewing out black smoke and flames. The second chopper also exploded in the air from the 60mm plasma pressure grenades fired by the heavy weapons company. The other two WZ-10 attack choppers hurriedly sped up from hovering and began to retaliate.

The WZ-10 attack choppers moved in the air and sprayed 57mm rockets to the surface. The explosions made the 1st Special Forces Battalion’s men fly across the area.

Colonel Oh Yong-il, the 1st Aerial and Land Forces Battalion Commander gave the order to charge through the battalion communication line.

“We are going to lose Xi Jin Ping. Everyone, ignore the enemy chopper and charge! We must not let him get away, understood? Charge!”

Colonel Oh Yong-il, who gave the order, ran out first. There were still 2 Chinese attack choppers in the sky, but he did not pay them any attention and instead started to run forward. The 200 surviving special forces men also followed their Commander and ran forward.

Vroooooooo~ Vroooooooo~

When the chopper’s 30mm Vulcans swept through the surface, dozens of the aerial and land forces men fell. However, the men disregarded their fallen comrades and rand forward. For five minutes, they ran forward while being attacked by the Chinese choppers. Unfortunately, President Xi and his party had boarded the transport choppers and were flying away to Beijing’s suburbs. The WZ-10 attack choppers must have exhausted their weapons supply as well, for they raised their altitude and flew in the direction the other choppers headed to.

“Those bastards! They got away.”

Colonel Oh Yong-il turned around after watching the choppers fly away. His 400 men were gone, and only 200 with somber faces stood behind him.

“Damn it! We failed. How will we return to General Choi Ho-il in the south empty-handed?”

“Comrade Commander! We may have failed in our mission, but it seems we succeeded in assassinating their military’s Commander, General Chiu Ji Liang Ji.”

“Are you sure?”

“We are scanning the faces of the Chinese soldiers, and there are a lot of high ranking commanders including general Chiu, sir.”

“That’s better than nothing.”

“Let’s leave this place after we are done!”

“Yes, sir.”

December 26, 2020, 11:30, Yongsan ku B2 bunker (ROK Military Joint Command Center), Seoul

“It’s video a call from the Battalion Commander of the 1st Aerial and Land Forces, Colonel Oh Yong-il.”

The Communication Operator reported loudly so that the entire Command Center could hear.

“It’s on screen 6, sir.”

“Hello, sir. I am Oh Yong-il, Battalion Commander of the 1st Battalion under the 38th Aerial and Land Forces Brigade.”

Colonel Oh Yong-il saluted in a disciplined manner, but it was a bit different from the conventional form of the Korean military. Chairman Kang silently gestured to General Choi Ho-il to respond instead. General Choi instantly took notice and asked the immediate question on everyone’s minds after saluting back.

“How did it go?”

“I am sorry, sir. General Choi comrade! We failed in our mission.”

“What? You failed?”

“I apologize, sir. I have nothing to say.”

“You bastards. Is that all you got? Can you still call yourself the 8th Special Forces Corps?”

“I am sorry again, sir. We do have something to report.”

“What is it?”

“We have taken out the Commander in Chief of the Chinese military, General Chiu Ji Liang Ji.”

The entire Joint Chief of Staff began to murmur. It was disheartening to lose President Xi, but killing the Commander in Chief of China’s military was great news. The Joint Chief of Staff had been struggling to deal with General Chiu’s tactics, but now a weight has been lifted from their shoulders.

“Are you certain?”

“Yes, sir. General Choi comrade! We also took out Vice Prime Minister Wang yang, National People’s Political Council’s Vice President Ling Zhihwa, Commander of the Navy Qian fei, 5 Military Commission members, 20 Commanding Generals, and 10 politicians. We will have the list sent over as soon as we have it organized.”

The names Colonel Oh Yong-il rattled off were those of the highest of the commanding party members. With a list like that, it was more than enough to make up for letting Xi Jin Ping escaped.

“Colonel Oh Yong-il! Great work. Truly.”

Chairman Kang Ui-sik spoke up from the impressive feat of Colonel Oh’s forces. Colonel Oh Yong-il stood up straight and answered loudly again.

“No, sir. Comrade Kang Ui-sik Chairman! I only did what needed to be done, sir.”

“Colonel Oh Yong-il! Great work! Despite letting Xi Jin Ping go, you did great work. Clean up the battlefield for now and report back later.”

“Understood. General Choi, comrade! I am off, sir!”

After Colonel Oh Yong-il saluted in the North Korean form and the video was cut off, the entire Joint Chiefs of Staff cheered. Chairman Kang and General Choi shook each other’s hand to congratulate each other, and the room’s atmosphere lit up.

From China’s perspective, today’s events were something to weep over. General Chiu, Commander in Chief of China’s military was dead. What was more embarrassing was how he died within the nation’s own capital. President Xi, who seemed so pitiful from his appearance even to the transport chopper’s operators, wept the whole time from the guilt that he led General Chiu to his death.

That night, the Beijing that President Xi Jin Ping had left behind, was overrun by 8 aerial and land forces brigades, 3 sniper brigades, and Korea’s 11th and 13th Special Forces brigades. A large force of 50,000 men had spread across the city.
