Chapter 247 - Book 10 Chapter 3-6 A Time for Decisive Action: The Clash!

The DP-ICM rounds that had broken through the 7th armored company’s anti-air net fell towards the ground.

The Corean forces were now 8km away from the 13th armored battalion’s position.

Numerous rounds of bombs fell on the 722 tank’s turret that had been leading the 7th company’s charge. It seems the bombs have hit their target since a powerful shock rang across the turret.

Boom! Boo Booom!

The outer plating of the C-3 White Tiger tank was made out of Hydronium alloy. The plating was capable of defending against DP-ICM rounds and armor-piercing rounds. However, the blast could damage the optical equipment of the vehicle, so the 722 tank’s vehicle commander cringed.

“Sergeant Lee! Move into the S-formation!”

“Yes, sir.”

Staff Sergeant Lee Ho-jun had been promoted from sergeant during the war. His voice rang across the entire tank through the communication line. The other tanks under the 7th company started to move in the S-formation as well.

The sky was full of flashing lights while the explosions covered the ground. The 7th armored company had closed the distance between them and Japan’s 13th armored battalion to 5km, and when they had a clear line of fire, the company commander gave the order.

“Each platoon is to move and take down the enemy tanks as quickly as possible.”

The company followed the commander’s orders and split into units of platoons before firing their 100mm photon cannons.

Pew! Pew! Pew! Pew!

The photon cannons had flown towards the Type 10 tanks that had been hiding under the camouflage nets and landed on their turrets.

Boom~ Boom~ Crash.

Dozens of Type 10 tanks had their turrets detached from their bodies and lit the tanks on fire. Black and red flames danced around the battlefield. The 13th armored battalion’s tanks also left their positions and moved to retaliate. However, since the enemy was not in range of their cannons, they moved to close the distance between them and the enemy.

“The enemy tanks are moving to retaliate. Each platoon commanders are to actively make evasive maneuvers while engaging in battle.”

-Tank 711, roger.

-Tank 721, roger.

-Tank 731, roger.

While the company’s tanks were communicating with each other, 30 Type 10 tanks appeared from the plains and reached their range of fire.

The Type 10 tanks fired their cannons after moving in a horizontal formation. However, the C-3 White Tiger tank’s powerful active SECM disruptive system had skewed the aim of the Type 10 tanks and made the rounds either fall short or fly over their targets. Meanwhile, the armored ranger battalion’s headquarter company and platoon had waited for the enemy Type 10 tanks to form up in a group. When they saw the enemy gather, they launched their 81mm plasma cluster rounds from their K-25 armored vehicles.

When the plasma cluster rounds with a range of 10km flew in an arc, the 13th armored battalion’s communication line was in an uproar.

“Enemy cannon fire! Everyone spread out!” The 13th armored battalion’s commander used the microphone attached to his helmet and shouted urgently.

Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!

The sounds of the flying cluster rounds became louder, and dozens of them started to explode simultaneously 10m above the 13th armored battalion’s position. Numerous bomblets started to fall on the Type 10 tanks.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

With a dense cracking sound, the turrets broke off from the tanks and black flames started to dance around. The vehicle commanders and operators all perished from the explosions. The Type 10 tank’s side plates were notorious for being weak. The turret’s upper plating was no better.

When the 120mm rounds loaded onto the turret exploded, it peeled back like a banana and broke into pieces.

Seeing their allied tanks blow up, the surviving Type 10 tanks dispersed in all directions. However, the 81mm plasma cluster rounds still fell on them.

The 81mm plasma cluster rounds were quite powerful. Whenever they hit the upper part of the turret, the upper part of the Type 10 tanks would explode.

Woooosh.

When the rear parts of the tanks caught on fire from the plasma cluster rounds, many tanks started to move about wildly. Some of them ended up falling into pits and stopping dead in their tracks.

Hundreds of plasma rounds had spread across evenly in an area the size of a football field and causing hell. The C-3 White Tiger tanks continued to attack with their photon cannons.

Downton Tsuyama, Okayama Prefecture, Honshu, Japan

The armored ranger battalion’s 7th and 8th companies were facing off against two of Japan’s armored battalions. The 9th armored company had moved into downtown Tsuyama and started to prepare their guns to strike the 13th artillery force stationed in the city. The tanks from the 9th company rushed down the four-lane road.

Meanwhile, the Japanese army had prepared for the urban battle and used the buildings in the city as cover. There were Type 87 anti-tank missile launchers stationed around the city. Other infantry forces had Type 01 anti-armored vehicle missile launchers on their shoulders and silently waiting along the roads for the Corean marine tanks to move towards them. These men were from the reserve forces that had been hastily organized to protect the 13th artillery force.

“Enemy tanks are entering the city! Four tanks are to enter road 132 in a parallel formation. Each platoon is to take them out.” The infantry artillery company’s commander, who had re-enlisted due to the war against Corea, started commanding his forces.

Vrooooooom.

Rounds from personal firearms started to fly towards the C-4 White Tiger tanks moving along the road from buildings on both sides.

Ting! Ting ting ting ting! Ting!

The rounds from the Type 64 automatic rifle started to create small sparks and flew off.

Dududududu!

The infantrymen started to fire their rifles, heavy guns, and grenades to aid the artillery forces that were operating the Type 01 anti-tank missiles. The turret of the White Tiger tanks turned left and right to fire their photon rounds to the low rise buildings.

The windows and walls of the buildings exploded, and the Japanese infantry were all wiped out without a trace or had their bodies torn to bits by the building fragments.

The buildings along the road caught on fire and black smoke began to rise. The anti-tank platoon started to fire their Type 01 and Type 87 anti-tank missiles at the White Tiger tanks from their position as soon as the tanks’ gaze was diverted.

Meanwhile, the White Tiger tanks also detected the targeting lasers of the anti-tank missiles. They fired their own 40mm six-round GTGAS-40 Black Dragon missiles, and they fell on the Japanese infantry’s anti-tank platoon.

Multiple explosions occurred at the anti-tank platoon’s positions.

Boom! Bang! Booooom! Booom!

White smoke engulfed the area and disrupted visibility. Soon, the smoke dispersed.

The C-3 White Tiger tanks moving along the four-lane road turned their turrets as if nothing had happened and continued to take down the Japanese infantry. Broken building fragments and torn bodies were strewn across the areas where the Black Dragon missiles landed.

The 14 C-3 White Tiger tanks that had entered the city took out 1000 Japanese infantry. The soldiers had died without causing any damage. Lieutenant Colonel Yoshida, the commander of the Japanese infantry, had ordered the 13th artillery force and his men to retreat once he saw them dying helplessly.

The 13th artillery force that had been firing their guns at the Corean Marine’s tanks immediately stopped firing their Type 75 self-propelled guns and prepared to move when the order came in. A few minutes later, they were ready to move out and were about to go east. A large tank suddenly broke down the two buildings on the side of the small road and appeared in front of them.

Some of the lights were down, so they could not properly identify the tank by the silhouette alone, but the 13th artillery force knew it was not their allied tank but Corea’s.

“Enemy tanks! We leave the area. Move! Move already!” A scream filled with despair rang across the 13th artillery’s communication line.

However, they were already done for.

Photon rounds fell on the Type 75 self-propelled gun’s rears as they tried to retreat. They were hit on the engine, and with a great explosion, the gun burst forward and the cannon bent and fell backward.

The C-3 White Tiger tanks continued to fire their photon rounds.

A single White Tiger tank had massacred the 13th artillery force’s Type 75 self-propelled guns. Many had caught on fire and stopped moving. Those that had survived and escaped the area had other White Tiger tanks waiting for them. They were also hit by the photon rounds and exploded.

Boom!

A few minutes later, the 13th artillery force operating the Type 75 self-propelled guns were annihilated. The Type 75 self-propelled guns, ammunition vehicles, FDC armored vehicles, and other vehicles were all covered in flames and burning with only their frames remaining.

The western plains 15km away from Tsuyama, Okayama Prefecture, Honshu, Japan

Boom!

The 13th mechanized brigade’s 13th armored battalion only had a few Type 10 tanks left. One of their surviving tanks that had fired a round against the 722 White Tiger tank exploded into pieces.

“How dare you try to face us one on one?” Sergeant First Class Kang Kyung-hyun, the 722 tank’s commander, said while smiling at the exploding enemy tank.

One of the collapsed Type 10 tank’s turrets turned towards the 722 tank at 300m away from it. Then, the laser targeting alarm began to sound.

Sergeant First Class Kang Kyung-hyun had used his animal-like instinct to check his surroundings with the periscope and gave an order to attack. “Our 10 o’clock, distance at 300, fire two rounds at that collapsed enemy tank!”

When he gave the order, a loud noise flew past the 722 tank’s rear.

The Type 10 tank’s round had missed its target due to the disruptive SECM waves and fell on the ground behind its target and exploded. The photon cannon fired two rounds at the enemy.

The two-photon rounds had hit the side and lower parts of the Type 10 tank that only had its turret functional. The turret and the body had split in two and flew off by 5m. The caterpillar track was also destroyed and large flames started to dance.

Woooosh.

The Type 10 tank caught on fire after being hit by the photon rounds and lit up the area.

-Enemy tanks have all been destroyed! Each platoon is to report damages!

-Platoon 1! All four tanks are unharmed.

-Platoon 2! All four tanks are unharmed.

-Platoon 3! Optical equipment of the 733 tank is damaged! The others are unharmed.

-Great! Tank 733 is to move back to the HQ company, and the rest of the tanks will enter downtown Tsuyama.

-Platoon 1, 711 tank, roger.

-Platoon 2, 721 tank, roger.

-Platoon 3, 731 tank, roger.

The 20-minute battle between the 7th armored company and the 13th armored battalion was over quickly, and the battle between the 8th armored company and the 14th armored battalion was over with minimal damages as well.

Major Na Hae-sung, the operations director, spoke on the battalion communication line.

-We have detected multiple enemy choppers at our 4 o’clock! They are probably from the 14th aerial force’s choppers. Transition into anti-air positions.

Sixteen Apache attack choppers flew in from the southeastern skies while Major Na Hae-sung was speaking on the communication line. The two armored companies that had attempted to enter downtown Tsuyama stopped and started to watch the skies.
