"Mama's daughter has really grown up. Time flies so fast." Stella embraced her daughter.
Kaili just smiled a little. "Don't you want to know why I had a fight with Dexter?"
"So would you tell me if I asked about it?"
Kaili: "..."
"As parents, we will only support you. You are grown up and have your own sights, have your own decisions. So we just support that. Of course, we don't want our children to get hurt, but no marriage life has no debate in it. So we can't do whatever we want.
However, Mama and Papa have been through it before and already understand it so well. Maybe the problem is different but every married couple will definitely experience the ups and downs of life. If you don't want to tell me, it means you want to settle it with your husband. Why should we interfere?"
"What's the meanest thing that Papa has ever done to Mama?"
Stella sniffed, "Honey, every problem is the same, big or not depends on how we look at it. Some consider a big problem as a small one, and vice versa. As long as they don't let go of each other, it's still fine. Calming down is necessary, but don't run away from it."
If that was the case... could identity deception still be considered a normal thing?
Just as Kaili was about to say something, her phone vibrated again.
Stella looked at her daughter, "Take it! At least tell him you need some time to cool off. So he wouldn't be too worried." said Stella while taking her leave.
Kaili nodded. When she was about to answer, only then did she know that the caller was not Dexter, but Delwyn.
Kaili curiously picked up the phone call. She was a little scared. She didn't return to SaBi after visiting the GBK today but she already asked Delwyn's permission. Why did this man contact her again? Was he going to scold her for neglecting responsibilities?
That was what crossed Kaili's mind.
"Hello, Director Delwyn. Is-"
"Miss Goh, sorry to disturb your rest, but I have something to tell you. Maybe this is a little bit impolite because I conveyed it over the phone. But, I can't put it off any longer."
Thump… thump!
Kaili's heart suddenly seemed to stop. Delwyn's words seemed to confirm her perception.
"Is it because I didn't come back to the office this afternoon after going out for lunch? I… I did shirk a bit of responsibility."
Kaili didn't want to guess anymore, her heart wasn't strong enough to hold it.
Meanwhile, Delwyn who was on the other side was frowning.
"Excuse me, Miss Goh, what do you mean?"
"Ugh!!! Was there a misunderstanding? Director Delwyn, you called me to fire me, didn't you? I've been doing as I please, so it's only natural to receive a penalty."
Delwyn tried hard to hold back his laugh. Judging from the way Kaili spoke, she should be scared by now. Anyone could tell, it wasn't a fright that was made up. Delwyn found it funny. She was the daughter of a rich family but still worried about being fired by a small company, which was even smaller than her parents' company! Judging from the status that her parents had, she shouldn't be worried about anything. After all, she could still enjoy life like a noble's daughter, even if all the companies in the world didn't employ her.
"Miss Goh, you think too much. Have you had any worries lately?" Delwyn showed his care.
"Me? Ugh.... No. Did I guess wrong?" Kaili replied.
"Yep. A wrong guess! What company would act stupidly, fire a highly competent employee like you just for not showing up for half a day? After all, you asked permission beforehand, I permitted you directly. Then why am I still firing you? Miss Goh, you don't think I'm a cruel boss do you?" Delwyn laughed at the end of his words.
Kaili patted her forehead gently. What a joke was this! It was so embarrassing!
"Eh… Hehehe." Kaili could only laugh sheepishly to get rid of the awkwardness.
"Then what's the most important thing you want to say that makes you think it's very unusual to say on a phone call?" Kaili asked in the next second. It was Delwyn's words that made her justify her initial perception. So it was not Kaili's fault either if she misunderstood. Delwyn's words were ambiguous!
"Ah, right, I almost forgot about it. Look, I just got an email from the Account Executive, saying; advertising companies are interested in inviting us to meet to discuss the advertising concept they want. What do you think?"
Kaili had a hard time digesting it, "What do I think? What does my opinion have to do with that?"
Delwyn massaged his forehead. Kaili was really innocent.
"I conveyed this to you first so that there would be no debate between team A and team B. You know Edrei wants to get this project so badly! If I take her to meet the advertiser, you will lose your chances to get this ad. I'm not trying to scare you but I have to admit, Edrei is quite good at this."
It was a blessing having a boss who fully supports you! But...
"Director Delwyn, why are you helping me?" The better a person is, the greater our anticipation of him should be. That was what Kaili knew.
"Me?" Delwyn smirked to hear Kalilis's question. "I just believe my judgment. You have a lot of potentials and I want to help you. Edrei doesn't deserve to be considered as an enemy or a rival. She used to be a nice person. I don't know what happened between you two that she always makes it difficult for you. Supposedly, if you can show your potential and make this project fall into your hands, then she will recognize you. We grew up together, I knew her so well.. But… If it made Miss Goh feels uncomfortable, I'm so sorry." How embarrassing!!! Kaili felt like she was the worst person on this earth!
