Chapter 332 - Fighting World Law with World Law

This was not the first time that Lu Tianzi was facing an opponent who had comprehended the Law of Swords.

Back at the Nine Suns Sect, before they went to attend the Scarlet Moon Heroes Meet, Lu Tianzi had been defeated by a single strike from his senior Nanhuang Jiansheng.

At that time, Nanhuang Jiangsheng had similarly utilised his comprehensions into the Law of Swords to overpower Lu Tianzi.

Lu Tianzi had learnt from that experience, and thought that he would be sufficiently prepared for Chengban's attack.

But at this very moment, he realised that he had been sorely mistaken.

Every single one of the world laws was deep and complex.

Just like how the same combat technique could be interpreted differently by different martial artists, there was also a fundamental difference between Chengban's Law of Swords and Nanhuang Jiangsheng's Law of Swords.

Nanhuang Jiansheng's comprehensions into the Law of Swords pursued the path of being the ruler of all swords, causing all other swords to tremble before him and thereby making it far more difficult for others to beat him in a battle of swords.

On the other hand, Chengban's comprehensions into the Law of Swords imbued his attacks with a piercing power unlike any other.

This piercing property worked in perfect synergy with his Ten Thousand Swords Possession, vastly improving the destructive power of every single beam of sword light. This was what allowed many of them to directly pierce through the weapons that were blocking their path right now.

Even though at least half of the beams of sword light were still blocked by Lu Tianzi's makeshift shield of weapons, the number remaining was nothing to be scoffed at.

Lu Tianzi immediately retreated, his two arms swinging busily as he fended off the numerous beams of sword light that had continued on their paths, heading straight towards him.

Of course, Chengban was not the only one who had comprehended a world law.

The numerous beams of sword light suddenly slowed down when they closed in on Lu Tianzi, affected by the dampening effect of the Law of Water.

This not only gave Lu Tianzi more time to deal with the numerous beams of sword light, but it also reduced the momentum behind them, making it far easier for him to fend off each individual beam of sword light.

It would have been more than enough to deal with this wave of attack, but Chengban was not intending to let up on the pressure.

Seeing that Lu Tianzi had been put on the back foot, Chengban's eyes immediately lit up in excitement.

Chance!

Chengban quickly followed up on his earlier attack by slashing out repeatedly with the Cloud Splitter, each slash summoning more beams of sword light that headed straight for Lu Tianzi.

Under Lu Tianzi's control, the weapons in the air that had been struck out of position by Chengban's earlier attack quickly came together once more in an attempt to block the following beams of sword light.

Some of these weapons had already been damaged from the previous clash, so even more of them were directly pierced through by the beams of sword light this time.

With each slash from Chengban, more and more of Lu Tianzi's weapons could no longer hold up, leaking a greater number of beams of sword light towards Lu Tianzi as time passed.

"It's over this time," Bayuen smirked.

"Is that so?" Dongquan Juewei replied with a teasing smile. "But Brother Bayuen has already been wrong about the fight twice before... will this be the third?"

Bayuen's expression turned dark in an instant. "I was wrong the first two times only because your junior apprentice was toying with his opponent! If he went all out from the start, things would have ended long ago!"

"Hahaha, yes yes, Brother Bayuen's words make sense," Dongquang Juewei laughed.

"Look, it's finally happened!" Bayuen grinned.

Despite Lu Tianzi's efforts in fending off the numerous beams of sword light, his defences seemed to have finally faltered, and a beam of sword light slipped right past his Torrential Sabre and Moon Culler.

Everyone narrowed their eyes as the beam of sword light pierced straight towards Lu Tianzi's glabella.

If this attack hit, it would at least result in a grievous injury, if not death itself!

Yet Chengban did not care about that one bit.

All that was in his mind was to beat down his opponent. Whatever happened to his opponent because of that was none of his concern!

On the other hand, some of the more rational elders started to worry.

To have a death happen on Dongquan Juewei's wedding day, and at the banquet itself to boot, that would be extremely inauspicious.

Who would be able to take the blame if the Tempest Overlord got angered because of that?

Some of them began to drive the energy in their inner world, getting ready to rescue Lu Tianzi should Chengban fail to rein in his power at the last minute.

Just like Bayuen, nobody expected Lu Tianzi to be able to get out of this situation.

But just as the beam of sword light was about to pierce through Lu Tianzi, his eyes began to shine with a silvery light.

At that moment, the beam of sword light directly vanished!

Chengban widened his eyes in shock.

There was no mistaking it.

It was the power of space!

This country bumpkin was actually capable of utilising the power of space?!

Chengban was not the only one who was caught by surprise.

Loud gasps and exclamations of surprise could be heard as the other attendees of the banquet witnessed this incredible sight before them.

The power of space had always been an elusive and difficult concept to grasp.

Because of that, utilising the power of space was something that almost belonged exclusively to those who had reached the Overlord realm.

Unless one was extremely talented in that aspect, it was simply far too difficult for anyone to make use of the power of space at the Origin Core realm.

Yet Chengban's opponent had actually managed to do so at just the Second Cycle Origin Core realm.

Where did he come from, and what was his name again?

Interest rose up within the hearts of the people present, all of them finally starting to become curious of Lu Tianzi's identity.

After all, many of them were representatives from powerful influences.

It certainly wouldn't hurt to bring a talented junior under their wing!

Even though Chengban had been surprised, his hands never stopped moving. The Cloud Splitter continued to slash out, creating new beams of sword light that headed towards Lu Tianzi.

Chengban eyed Lu Tianzi carefully.

Just like before, Lu Tianzi was still desperately defending himself with his dual sword and sabre.

But why?

Why would he be struggling like this if he could simply utilise the power of space to defend himself?

Could it be that there was a limit to the power of space that he could use?

Yes, that must be it!

That only made sense too.

It was already ridiculous enough that a country bumpkin like that could utilise the power of space at just the Second Cycle Origin Core realm.

There was simply no way that he could use it as and when he wished!

Since that was the case, then Chengban had nothing to fear.

As long as he continued piling on the pressure, his opponent would succ.u.mb to his sword sooner or later!

With that, Chengban calmed down significantly, focusing purely on offence.

Which each wave of sword light from Chengban, more of the weapons under Lu Tianzi's control would get damaged.

Lu Tianzi did not bring out any new ones to replace them either, meaning that more and more beams of sword light started slipping past the blockade of weapons to reach him.

The Torrential Sabre and Moon Culler continued to defend against the beams of sword light, but that alone was far from enough.

Beams of sword light started slipping past his defence. But everytime a beam of sword light seemed just about to hit Lu Tianzi, it would suddenly vanish without a trace.

Even so, he was constantly kept on the defensive, unable to threaten Chengban one bit.

It seemed like he was simply delaying the inevitable, stubbornly holding on despite not being able to find even a single opportunity to counterattack.

It was only a matter of time now... or so they thought.

But soon, those banquet attendees with a sharper eye of discernment began to realise that things were not quite right.

That was because despite his seemingly desperate struggle, Lu Tianzi continued to remain completely unharmed under the overwhelming barrage of sword light!

Not just that, but he even seemed to be faring better as time passed?

More beams of sword light might have started getting past his blockade of weapons, but at the same time, Lu Tianzi's ability to deal with the leakage was getting better at a rapid rate.

The Torrential Sabre and Moon Culler continued to moved in tandem, each strike faster than the last.

It was just like a performance – a beautiful dance of blades.

That was especially the case for the Moon Culler in his right hand.

It moved smoothly and swiftly from one target to the next, as though it was a fish in water, and its movements only became faster with each passing moment.

The elders seated in the main hall frowned, a previously unimaginable thought slowly creeping into their minds.

From the looks of it, it was almost as if Lu Tianzi was using this fight with Chengban to hone his skills in battle!

No, there's no way that could be the case.

How could that be possible?

He was facing a core disciple of the Divine Storm Sect, a talented martial genius who was three full Origin Cycles above him!

And Chengban was not even holding back one bit, each strike aiming at his opponent's vitals.

No one would have the luxury of acting like that in such a situation!

***

Lu Tianzi's eyes continued to shine with a silvery light, and the projected trajectories of every single beam of sword light fell directly into his eyes.

Right from the start, he had understood that he had never been under any real threat.

Otherwise, he would have brought out the other weapons in his spatial ring to replace those that had been damaged by Chengban's sword light.

On the other hand, he realised that each beam of sword light from Chengban reflected a high level of sword mastery.

This was testament to just how accomplished Chengban was in the way of the sword.

But Lu Tianzi was no stranger to the sword either.

By repeatedly facing these beams of sword light, he was actually able to slowly understand the profoundness of the weapon, raising his understanding of the sword to a higher level.

The Law of Origin, the Limitless Mirror Eye, and his pure martial talent worked together to burn the sight before him deep into his mind, committing everything to memory and breaking it down into digestible sizes.

It was always faster to learn by practice than by theory, and this was exactly what was happening to Lu Tianzi right now.

After dozens of exchanges, Lu Tianzi's eyes suddenly lit up, as though struck by a bolt of sudden realisation.

So it's like this...!

With a single smooth motion, the Moon Culler slashed out domineeringly, firing out a powerful sword light of its own.

Just like Chengban's attacks, this sword slash from Lu Tianzi contained within it a deep piercing power that seemed to originate from the world itself.

Facing this one sword slash from Lu Tianzi, the numerous incoming sword light from Chengban trembled in response, as though they were facing the ruler of all swords.

Just like that, they were directly engulfed by Lu Tianzi's sword light, just like pebbles sinking into the ocean depths.

Seeing this attack from Lu Tianzi, Elder Yinghe immediately stood up from her seat, unable to believe her eyes.

As Chengban's teacher, she had been watching the fight more closely than anyone else.

And now, she could not help but tremble in anxiousness.

That because just like Chengban's own attacks, this sword strike from Chengban's opponent was also imbued with comprehensions into the Law of Swords!
