Lu Tianzi could do nothing to stop the pitch-black darkness from rapidly devouring the colours of the world around him.
Right now, he was feeling rather regretful for having pushed himself too hard.
Not only was it embarrassing to have lost consciousness in the midst of cultivation, but Nanlan Qianxue would surely be worried about him as well.
However, even though Lu Tianzi was already prepared to lose his consciousness, it never happened.
Lu Tianzi was surprised to see that the darkness only lasted for a moment before fading away once more.
Colours quickly returned to his surroundings, and Lu Tianzi found himself back in the grass field below the War Intent Cliff.
But Lu Tianzi immediately realised that something was wrong.
The bright sun from before was now hidden behind gloomy clouds as heavy rain poured down from the sky.
More importantly, there was no longer anyone around him.
Be it Nanlan Qianxue, Young Master Xuan Hao, Ruan Ling, or the various other martial artists, all of them had vanished without a trace.
For a moment, Lu Tianzi even suspected that he had actually fallen unconscious for a long time and was thus abandoned here. But there was a striking difference in the scenery that caused him to instantly cast away that thought.
The previously barren cliff wall was now lush with vegetation, just like the other parts of the mountain.
Not just that, but there was no longer an indentation on the War Intent Cliff!
And in the absence of the indentation, the immense pressure from before was naturally missing as well.
Just what was going on here?
He moved to stand up, only to realise that he could not move a muscle.
No, that was slightly incorrect.
It was more like he had no muscle to move.
At this moment, Lu Tianzi finally understood what was happening.
It was likely that after pushing himself to the limit earlier, he had unintentionally established a mental connection with the something that was in the indentation on the cliff wall, or perhaps he had even established a mental connection with the cliff wall itself.
After all, there would surely be a trace of the Law of Origin in his perception if he was giving it his all, resulting in the situation that he was currently in.
This meant that what he was seeing right now was actually the War Intent Cliff of the past!
But without the indentation on the cliff wall, could the War Intent Cliff still be called the War Intent Cliff?
Bang-!
A huge explosion on the cliff wall instantly broke his train of thoughts.
It was like a volcano eruption.
A terrifying burst of energy escaped the confines of the earth and shot into the skies, dragging along with it the earth and rocks that once acted as its prison.
The lush vegetation that had held everything together was incinerated in an instant. Even the previously sturdy earth and rocks were decimated by the absolute strength behind this burst of energy, reduced to mere particles of dust that blocked out the skies.
The burst of energy continued unhindered, firing straight into the sky and disappearing behind the clouds.
Even after it was gone, a heavy pressure continued to linger in the air, just like the cloud of dust that seemed to be completely unaffected by the heavy downpour.
Lu Tianzi watched on in shock.
If it was him, getting caught in such a terrifying attack would mean instant death!
At the same time, he could clearly feel that the pressure in the air was similar to the one that he had felt from the War Intent Cliff, only much stronger.
Without a doubt, he was currently watching how the indentation on the cliff wall had been formed!
If the pressure in the surroundings had been this strong before, his perception would never have been able to reach the indentation on the War Intent Cliff.
Thankfully, it seemed that the pressure had gradually receded to a tolerable level with the passing of time.
But then again, what in the world happened to have caused such a huge explosion?
It was then that Lu Tianzi suddenly noticed something.
The earlier burst of energy had been far too terrifying, inevitably drawing all of Lu Tianzi's attention. But it was actually not the only thing that had escaped from within the cliff wall.
Obscured within the thick cloud of dust, a middle-aged man now floated in mid-air with his eyes closed, as though he was relishing the embrace of the sheer devastation around him.
A human!
Lu Tianzi realised in excitement.
This middle-aged man was dressed in a set of neat combat robes, with a huge sabre hung behind his back. He might not be making any moves right now, but Lu Tianzi could still see through his Overlord realm cultivation level.
Lu Tianzi might not have truly fought an Overlord realm powerhouse before, but he had witnessed them showing off their strengths on a few occasions, so he believed that he had a rough gauge of their strength level.
If this Overlord realm martial artist really was the one responsible for the immense pressure in the surroundings, then either Lu Tianzi had grossly underestimated the strength of Overlord realm martial artists, or this middle-aged man's strength must have been far beyond his peers!
But just as Lu Tianzi was carefully observing this middle-aged man, a deep and aged voice came from the direction of the cliff wall where the explosion had originated from.
"Take your time and feel it for youself. If you cannot even learn to do this much, then don't bother going. After all, this is the bare minimum you need in order to contend with the enemies you seek."
There's someone else!
Lu Tianzi immediately turned towards the cliff wall, but his vision was completely blocked by a thick cloud of dust. With the pressure in the surroundings, his perception could not even stretch five metres out, not to mention inspecting the cliff wall that was even further away.
But there was no doubt in Lu Tianzi's mind now.
This explosion was not created by the Overlord realm martial artist.
Instead, it was done by someone even stronger, possibly in a bid to instruct the Overlord realm martial artist.
To be able to instruct an Overlord realm powerhouse, the strength of the latter must have already reached an extremely terrifying level!
Just as Lu Tianzi was lost in thought, the scene before Lu Tianzi suddenly vanished.
The heavy downpour, the cloud of dust, the middle-aged man, all of them were gone, replaced by a sunny weather and a familiar sight.
Numerous martial artists were present on the grass field, with Nanlan Qianxue, Young Master Xuan Hao, and Ruan Ling nearest to him.
At this moment, Nanlan Qianxue was looking at him anxiously.
"Are you all right?" Nanlan Qianxue asked.
"Hmm?" Lu Tianzi realised that he was now lying on the grass field. "Did I lose consciousness?"
"Mm," Nanlan Qianxue nodded, seeming to have relaxed a little upon seeing that Lu Tianzi was fine.
"I'm sorry, it seems like I have pushed myself a little too far," Lu Tianzi slowly sat up. "You should go back to cultivating. This is a rare opportunity so every bit of time is precious. Don't worry, I will be fine after resting for a bit."
"Got it," Nanlan Qianxue replied. "But don't push yourself too hard."
She naturally could sense just how effective this place was towards her rate of cultivation as well, so she was reluctant to waste her time here either.
Nanlan Qianxue swiftly returned to cultivating, while Lu Tianzi entered a state of light meditation in order to recover his condition.
He had pushed himself too far just now, and needed to bring himself back to peak condition before trying again. This was the only way he could truly enjoy the most benefits from of this place.
While recovering, Lu Tianzi thought back to what he had seen earlier. At the same time, he could not help but look up at the indentation on the cliff wall.
Indeed, it was at the exact same spot as where the powerful explosion had occurred.
That was no doubt how the indentation on the cliff wall came about.
Perhaps after years had passed, the state of the cliff wall had recovered to the point where only the small indentation on the cliff wall remained.
But who exactly was the person instructing the middle-aged man?
Why was he inside the cliff wall in the first place?
No, that was not it.
It was more likely that the two of them had been on the other side of the cliff wall, their attack directly piercing straight through the terrain to appear from this end of the cliff wall!
Lu Tianzi fell into deep thought.
If even the tail end of the attack could create something like the War Intent Cliff, then what about the source of the attack itself?
Regardless, Lu Tianzi's main priority right now was still to recover to his peak condition, so he remained in a state of light meditation for the following few hours.
Boom-!
After some time, another martial artist managed to break through to the next cultivation level, sending out a wave of energy that immediately drew everyone's attention.
This was a person who was seated right under the cliff wall, which meant that he was taking up one of the most coveted spots on the grass field.
"That's Snake Fist Luo of the Golden Hounds Brigade!"
"That guy actually managed to become even stronger? Things are going to get rough for the travellers around here!"
"What do you mean?"
"Don't you know? The Golden Hounds Brigade is famous for extorting protection fees from travellers in the area, and Snake Fist Luo is none other than their greatest talent!"
"Speaking of talent, I heard that he only arrived around six months ago. To think that he has already managed a breakthrough. He truly lives up to his reputation of being a future contender for the Heaven's Warrior List!"
Discussions instantly broke out among the martial artists present.
Cultivation had always been a mundane and arduous process, and this was especially the case since most of them had already been here for months at least. Because of that, most of them welcomed every opportunity to take a short break and just make friendly conversations with others.
Furthermore, many of those here were talented people from varying influences.
Chatting with people like these could greatly widen their horizons, and perhaps even allow them to build some useful connections.
Even if that was not the case, simple chatter could still relieve their pent up mental stress, allowing them to maintain their condition at the peak state.
Under the envious looks of others, Snake Fist Luo let out a deep breath before standing up from his seat.
He turned around to look at the other martial artists before letting out a sinister grin.
"You! Come fight me!" Snake Fist Luo pointed at a young martial artist and shouted.
"Eh? Me?" the martial artist was taken by surprise.
He had never met Snake Fist Luo before this, so he certainly did not expect to be called out like that.
"If you are not going to come, then I will go over instead!" Snake Fist Luo sneered.
Without warning, Snake Fist Luo dashed out towards the young martial artist.
Around them, everyone watched on with interest.
This was not the first time a fight had broken out on the grass field, so nobody was too alarmed. On the contrary, watching others' fight could even help them gain further insights into battle concepts.
That was especially the case if one of those fighting was a renowned talent such as Snake Fist Luo.
"Damn it! Don't overestimate yourself!" the young martial artist cursed under his breath, but he did not cower.
After all, Snake Fist Luo was only at the Seventh Cycle Origin Core realm even after his breakthrough, which was the exact same cultivation level as the young martial artist.
The young martial artist guessed that this was perhaps the reason why Snake Fist Luo had chosen him.
However, the young martial artist had already been at the Seventh Cycle Origin Core realm for years.
There was no way he would be afraid of someone who had only just broken through to the same cultivation level!
"Since you are asking for it, don't blame me if you get hurt!" the young martial artist shouted as a halberd appeared in his hands.
As the young martial artist swept out with his halberd, a grand and domineering aura descended over the grass field, concentrated upon the approaching Snake Fist Luo.
It was as though a mountain was pressing down on Snake Fist Luo, hindering his every movement.
"Looks like I made the right choice. Your comprehensions into the Law of Earth is not shabby!" Snake Fist Luo grinned.
Snake Fist Luo's movements ground to a halt with the impedement from the Law of Earth, but he never lost the look of confidence on his face.
Standing on the spot, Snake Fist Luo punched out towards the young martial artist.
Along with his fist, thousands of illusory snakes appeared from thin air and pounced towards the young martial artist, all of them completely unaffected by the heavy pressure from the Law of Earth.
"What?!" the young martial artist was shocked as he hurriedly swung his halberd in defence.
However, there were far too many snakes, and they were way too fast.
There was simply no way for the young martial artist to guard against them all.
"Argh!" the young martial artist screamed in pain as more than a thousand snakes bit into his body. "Please stop! I concede!"
"Hahaha! How weak!" Snake Fist Luo laughed.
With a wave of his hands, the snakes biting onto the young martial artist vanished.
After which, Snake Fist Luo completely ignored the convulsing young martial artist, choosing to scan the crowds once again. "Now then, who shall I fight next?"
