Chapter 122 Format of the Scarlet Moon Heroes Mee

Lu Tianzi and Beimu Fei were in slightly different circumstances.

Even though both of them were going to be learning the art of formations from Formation Master Beimu, that was the only subject that Lu Tianzi would be receiving instructions in.

On the other hand, Beimu Fei was also receiving instructions from the senior in regards to her cultivation path. As if that was not enough, Formation Master Beimu was also the current master of the Beimu Clan.

She was a teacher only in the art of formations to Lu Tianzi, but was a true master to Beimu Fei.

Therefore, Lu Tianzi and Beimu Fei naturally addressed Formation Master Beimu in different manners as well.

"Good," Formation Master Beimu nodded in satisfaction. "From today on, you, Nanlu Tianzi, shall be my student in the art of formations. Feel free to ask me if you have any queries."

"Yes, Teacher!" Lu Tianzi answered with vigour.

Even though the jade slip included deep insights on the art of formations, it was not exactly all-encompassing. There were indeed still a few points that he needed further clarification on.

Formation Master Beimu felt heartened upon seeing his enthusiasm.

When it came to learning an entirely new subject, natural talent might be able to ease the slope of the learning curve. But relying on mere talent alone was insufficient for one to go far.

In the end, the most important attribute was still consistency.

Only with consistence practice would one be able to hone one's skills to reach the pinnacle, and having interest in the subject was the easiest way to ensure one's consistency in practice.

In that sense, Lu Tianzi's interest in the subject was apparent for all to see.

"But for now, it is about time you returned," Formation Master Beimu said. "You do not hail from the capital. After spending an entire day out, your elders must be worried by now."

"Understood, Teacher. I will return again tomorrow then," Lu Tianzi nodded.

"Don't you dare lose the jade slip," Beimu Fei reminded once again from the side.

"I heard that already," Lu Tianzi forced a smile in response.

Before he left, Lu Tianzi received a small token with the word 'Beimu' engraved on it. According to Formation Master Beimu, it was not only a symbol of his status, but also a key to bypassing the concealing formations hiding the Beimu Clan Residence from the outside world.

This token was custom made for Lu Tianzi. Only when it detected his Slaughter Essence energy would it activate.

This was a minor security feature that had been put in place, preventing infiltration into the Beimu Clan by stealing his token.

Of course, when Lu Tianzi's skill level in the art of formations reached a certain level, he would no longer require this Beimu Token to bypass the concealing formations anymore.

Having already obtained the formation flags that he needed, Lu Tianzi had no more errands to run after leaving the Beimu Clan Residence. Thus, he headed back to City Lord Nanlan's residence.

"Sir Nanlu, you are finally back!" a servant came up to greet him when he returned.

Lu Tianzi immediately had a bad premonition.

Why did it seem like there were always people looking for him when he returned?

"What's the matter?" Lu Tianzi asked.

"The Master has asked us to inform him when everyone returns," the servant explained. "You are the last person to return, so please do not leave for the time being. It seems that the Master has something to inform everyone about."

This master that he was referring to was naturally City Lord Nanlan.

"Understood," Lu Tianzi nodded. "I will return to my room first while waiting for his summon."

"Thank you for your understanding, Sir Nanlu!" the servant hurried off.

Lu Tianzi did not have to wait long.

After he returned, the entire group from Bluenight City was quickly called to the front hall of the residence.

There, City Lord Nanlan and Elder Xingmeng faced the youngsters with a solemn look on their faces.

"There is only one reason for gathering you here," City Lord Nanlan started. "Some of you might have already heard of this, but I will just reiterate this for the sake of those who have not. Two days ago, some members from the Flying Dragon Hall had gone missing."

Lu Tianzi immediately perked up his ears in attention.

Flying Dragon Hall?

Was the City Lord referring to those people he killed?

"The Flying Dragon Hall is one of the top influences in Scarlet Moon City, and their investigations quickly pointed towards a group of youngsters from the Wind Leaf Sect, an influence that is visiting from other cities just like us," City Lord Nanlan continued.

"What happened after that? Did the two influences clash over this matter?" Nanqing Haowen asked out of curiosity.

"Clash?" City Lord Nanlan smiled, obviously amused by Nanqing Haowen's question. "The elders of the Wind Leaf Sect dared not step in at all, allowing the members of the Flying Dragon Hall to freely interrogate the ones believed to be involved.

What I am trying to tell you is that Scarlet Moon City is different from Bluenight City. The powerful influences here are domineering to the point where even I will not be able to keep them in check. Thus, I hope that all of you can try your best to stay out of trouble. Otherwise I really won't know how to answer to your Elders back in Bluenight City. Understood?"

"Yes, City Lord!" everyone answered unanimously.

"City Lord, I have another question," Nanqing Haowen spoke up once more.

"Speak."

"So what happened to those Wind Leaf Sect members in the end?" Nanqing Haowen asked out of curiosity.

"I am not entirely clear about this either," City Lord Nanlan admitted. "However, I heard that they led the members of the Flying Dragon Hall to where the conflict took place, but the missing members of the Flying Dragon Hall were nowhere to be found. They also blamed it on a mysterious masked man who wielded a silver spear. As for whether they were allowed to go after that, I am just as clueless as you are."

"A mysterious masked man wielding a silver spear…?" Nanqing Haowen subconsciously turned to look at Lu Tianzi.

But he immediately shook his head and turned back.

What was he thinking?

They had seen the group from Flying Dragon Hall back at the restaurant, and all four of them had a cultivation level higher than Nanlu Tianzi. One of them was even at the Peak Essence Condensation realm!

It had not been too long ago when Nanlu Tianzi lost to Nanhuang Jiansheng in a single strike.

How would he be able to take on the entire group by himself?

Although he had been subtle about it, Nanqing Haowen's actions still fell into the eyes of everyone present.

"That's right, Nanlu Tianzi. Didn't Qianbing pass you a concealing mask previously?" City Lord Nanlan was suddenly reminded of the matter.

Lu Tianzi felt his entire body tense up in nervousness, but he took care not to let it show on his face.

At the same time, Nanlan Qianbing bit her lower lips in indignation as she recalled the experience of being slapped in front of everyone.

"Yes, she did," Lu Tianzi answered.

"Make sure not to show the mask in public. Even though this incident has nothing to do with us, I don't want to risk anyone linking us to it," City Lord Nanlan instructed solemnly. "That reminds me, the Beimu Clan is a top influence not beneath the Flying Dragon Hall. How are things going with them?"

"Eh?" Lu Tianzi was confused for a moment.

It seemed that for some reason, even the people from Bluenight City were not suspicious of him being the masked spearman at all.

Of course, that was not something that he would complain about.

However, did the City Lord already hear about him becoming the student of Formation Master Beimu?

Was his information network not a little too scary?

But there was nothing to hide anyway, so Lu Tianzi decided to answer truthfully. "I am intending to make another visit to Formation Master Beimu again tomorrow."

"Good. Seems like you know what to do at least," City Lord Nanlan nodded in satisfaction.

"Remember to properly show your sincerity and apologise to them for wrecking the place!" Elder Xingmeng added sternly. "Even if it was completely accidental, you must not be seen as lacking in terms of courtesy. Otherwise, it doesn't matter that you are the top ranker of the Nine Suns Trial. Don't blame your City Lord or myself for not being able to defend you when they pursue the matter!"

Silence befell the entire front hall as the youngsters present were all shocked by Elder Xingmeng's sudden outburst.

As the person in question, the shock was even more pronounced for Lu Tianzi.

He looked up at Elder Xingmeng.

He wore a stern expression on his face, not bothering to hide the anger within him.

Turning to look at City Lord Nanlan, Lu Tianzi only saw a faint smile on his face.

Yet under the façade of his smiling expression, Lu Tianzi could easily sense that he was in agreement with Elder Xingmeng, silently warning him not to cause them anymore trouble.

From the looks of it, it seemed like all that the seniors were worried about was being implicated by the Beimu Clan's wrath!

As for wrecking the place at the Beimu Clan, the City Lord and Elder Xingmeng were probably referring to what happened during the little competition with Beimu Fei, which they had likely heard from General Nanbai Zhaoyu.

Formation Master Beimu had only offered Lu Tianzi to become her student after General Nanbai Zhaoyu left, so it was no wonder that they were unaware of the matter.

At this point, Lu Tianzi's heart turned cold.

From a certain point of view, it was understandable for the City Lord and Elder Xingmeng to react this strongly.

After all, even if Lu Tianzi was the most talented member of the younger generation from Bluenight City, it was simply not worth nurturing him if it meant offending a top influence like the Beimu Clan!

However, it was not as though he had intentionally created trouble!

Well, at least not while he was at the Beimu Clan…

Even the matter with the Flying Dragon Hall happened because he had been forcefully dragged into it!

In any case, the whole incident of wrecking the place at the Beimu Clan had been nothing but an accident, and it was not as though General Nanbai Zhaoyu was unaware of that point.

Under such circumstances, were the seniors not supposed to help them resolve any misunderstandings that arose?

If the seniors were not able to render assistance when they needed it, then what use did they have for the seniors' presence?

Of course, Lu Tianzi knew better than to show his emotions openly. But at the same time, he no longer saw the need to inform them about his current relationship with the Beimu Clan.

He wanted to see just how these seniors would react when they finally find out!

"Don't worry, City Lord. I have already properly handled the matter at the Beimu Clan," Lu Tianzi answered.

"I will trust you on this then!" City Lord Nanlan nodded.

Even though he was irritated by Lu Tianzi causing trouble, City Lord Nanlan was a very meticulous person. Despite his displeasure, he would definitely not show his feelings when he was in public.

In fact, he had even managed to convince Elder Xingmeng to attend this session just so he could avoid personally reprimanding Lu Tianzi!

This way, even if Lu Tianzi felt bad about being reprimanded, the majority of his resentment would still be directed towards Elder Xingmeng.

As compared to if City Lord Nanlan had to personally reprimand Lu Tianzi, the current arrangement would make it much easier for City Lord Nanlan to maintain good ties with the youngster in the future.

City Lord Nanlan had nothing more to discuss, and the youngsters were dismissed shortly after that.

Before returning to their respective rooms, Lu Tianzi took the chance to have a quick chat with Nanlan Qianxue and Nanqing Haowen.

Apparently, while he was at the Beimu Clan Residence, the rest of the Nine Suns Sect members had been trying to source for information in preparation for the upcoming Scarlet Moon Heroes Meet.

According to what they had gathered, the Scarlet Moon Heroes Meet was going to be divided into two main portions.

The first portions would only involve those of the elder generation, allowing them to discuss their insights and show off their various skills.

After which, the younger generation would take centre stage, and that was when Lu Tianzi and company would finally have the chance to shine.

As for how they would do so, there were no surprises there.

It was going to be none other than a martial competition.

After all, this was still a world that was based on strength. How could a gathering of young heroes be without some display of martial prowess?

However, due to the sheer number of youngsters attending, the martial competition would have to be further segregated into groups.

Only those who rose above the others within their groups would stand a chance to compete on the grandest stage, gaining the chance to show off their talents in front of the king himself.

The problem was that these groups would be randomly assigned on the very day of the Scarlet Moon Heroes Meet.

This meant that if they were unlucky enough, even fellow sect members could be pit against each other, forcing them to eliminate their own comrades!
