Chapter 167 Ridiculous Comprehension Ability

Lu Tianzi hurriedly swallowed a recovery pill before sitting down in meditation, trying his best to regulate the disarray in his inner world.

The sudden backlash from the ancient seal was far too tyrannical!

So much so that Lu Tianzi had been completely caught by surprise.

Even though he only had to withstand the pressure for just a split second, this single moment of pressure was already sufficient to render him helpless, reducing him to such a pitiful state.

In that case, just how much stronger did he have to be in order to break his master out of this ridiculous seal?

His master had previously estimated that he would need to cultivate for another thousand years or two before he would be able to do so, but surely it could not be this exaggerated?

As Lu Tianzi was lost in thought, a healthy colour returned to his face as he gradually recovered from his injuries.

Seeing that he had recovered, Xihuang Yuanfeng finally spoke. "You… is that an eye technique?"

Lu Tianzi nodded in response. "I chanced upon this technique in a mysterious mirror world after joining a sect in Scarlet Moon Kingdom. Unfortunately, I am still unable to display the full extent of the technique."

"I see…" Xihuang Yuanfeng's voice trailed off for a bit before he continued. "This is not a simple technique, so you should take it slow in case your eyes collapse from the strain. Considering your cultivation level, being able to reach your current mastery of the technique is already considered quite impressive."

"Oh? Does Master know about this technique too?" Lu Tianzi looked up in surprise.

If his master did not know about the Limitless Mirror Eye beforehand, it would probably be impossible for him to understand that it was not a simple technique and that it had a huge strain on his eyes!

"I do know a little about the Limitless Mirror Eye, but that is not important. Here, take a look at this!"

With a wave of his hand, one of the shelves behind Xihuang Yuanfeng opened up. A jade token flew out from within and landed directly onto Lu Tianzi's lap.

"What is this?" Lu Tianzi picked up the jade token and examined it closely.

The jade token was the size of his palm. Its exterior was green and clear, with many intricate carvings made upon it.

Apart from that, Lu Tianzi could sense a familiar feeling from the jade token, similar to that of jade slips that contained complete technique manuals.

"Give it a try," Xihuang Yuanfeng instructed.

Curious about what this jade token really was, Lu Tianzi did as he was told. He closed his eyes and sank his perception into the jade token, the same way that he would peruse a regular jade slip.

However, the result was entirely different.

Rather than have a load of information flow directly into his brain, Lu Tianzi suddenly found himself in an entirely different world.

It felt like he was floating in place, as though he was underwater, yet it was also clear that it was not water around him.

There were blurry yet visible waves spreading out all around him, illuminated by periodic flashes of light that had mysteriously originated from within the waves themselves.

These strange waves moved extremely slowly, but Lu Tianzi could feel a boundless power behind each wave.

This level of power was not something that the current him could ever hope to resist!

Lu Tianzi continued to float there motionlessly, silently observing the movement of the waves.

Fortunately, it seemed as though he was only watching as a spectator. Even when he was in the way of some of these powerful waves, they passed through him directly, as though he was not there in the first place.

Otherwise, Lu Tianzi would probably suffer a fate worse than when he faced the backlash from the ancient seal!

There was no particular order to the movement of the waves, all of them spreading out in random directions.

When each of these waves collided with others, sometimes one of the two was directly consumed by the other, sometimes both were reflected back the way they came, and sometimes both simply disappeared.

At the same time, Lu Tianzi noticed the existence of multiple snaking tubes that existed in this world.

These invisible tubes were almost undetectable, and Lu Tianzi was only able to notice them due to the strange waves reflecting off of them.

By now, a familiar scene from the past had finally resurfaced in his memory.

When his master Xihuang Yuanfeng rescued him from Ivory Rock City with a spatial gate, Lu Tianzi had entered a world just like this before reappearing in the cave chamber.

Back then, he had personally moved along a invisible winding tunnel from start to end.

This time, he was floating motionless in place, watching this mysterious world from a spectator's point of view.

All things considered, it was highly likely that these snaking tubes were similar to the winding tunnel that he had passed through.

In that case, this should be a separate world that involved the power of space!

Or at least, it should be a simulation of such a world.

So the reason why his master passed him the jade token was to aid him in understanding the power of space!

Finally realising what he was supposed to do, Lu Tianzi closed his eyes, allowing his body to feel the spatial fluctuations around him.

In this strange spatial world, there was no concept of time.

Lu Tianzi did not know how much time had passed before he finally opened his eyes once again.

But when he did, he found that he had already returned to the cave chamber.

"How do you feel?" Xihuang Yuanfeng asked. "Did you manage to glean any new insights?"

Lu Tianzi nodded before taking another look at the jade token that was still in his hands. "This jade token is quite amazing."

"Hahaha!" Xihuang Yuanfeng laughed in pride. "Of course it is! Who do you think I am? Not just the jade token, but I have tons of other amazing things in my possession! You just aren't aware of it, that's all!"

"Of course I won't be aware! You are always keeping them in your shelves, refusing to bring them out for me to see!" Lu Tianzi grumbled. "I have always been meaning to say this, and this seems to be the perfect chance to do so. Other masters will always pass some life saving trump cards to their disciples. But despite having so many amazing treasures, I don't see you giving me any of them!"

"Stop eyeing my precious treasures!" Xihuang Yuanfeng snapped in response. "Did I not just give you that jade token? If I give you any more of my treasures, you will just grow over-reliant on them and neglect your cultivation!"

"I won't! And in any case, shouldn't you at least be giving me something to save myself when my life is in danger?" Lu Tianzi retorted.

"Just shut up and concentrate on raising your cultivation level! The best way to survive dangerous situations is simply by being strong enough to defeat your opponent!"

Lu Tianzi was speechless.

He had no doubt about the strength of his master, but why must he be so stingy?

"Well, then at least tell me more about the Limitless Mirror Eye," Lu Tianzi gave up on persuading his master, choosing to ask about something else instead. "Even if it is just a little, every bit could prove to be the impetus to push my understanding to the next level!"

"I just told you that you should stop being distracted by other stuff!" Xihuang Yuanfeng chided unhappily. "If you really want to hear more, I will tell you whatever you want to know after you break me out of this cave!"

"And when will that be?" Lu Tianzi asked begrudgingly. "Exactly how strong do I have to be in order to be strong enough to break the seal?"

"Hmm…" Xihuang Yuanfeng thought for a moment as he gave Lu Tianzi a good look over. "This seal is not something that can be broken easily, but I will be able to do the majority of the work. All you have to do is to coordinate with me from the outside. Given that, perhaps you will already be strong enough when you reach the very peak of the Origin Core realm?"

"Peak of the Origin Core realm, eh?" Lu Tianzi contemplated.

By that, his master was probably referring to reaching the Ninth Origin Cycle.

But the question was, since he had both the Spiritual and Slaughter cultivation systems at his disposal, would he still need to wait till then?

Or did his master mean that he needed both cultivation systems to hit the Ninth Origin Cycle?

"Hello, wake up!" Xihuang Yuanfeng's voice instantly broke his train of thoughts. "What is the point of daydreaming about these things? As you are now, you are nowhere near being able to do so! If you have the time to think about such matters, I'd rather you just spend it on honing your Returning Wraith Sword!"

Lu Tianzi felt the corner of his lips twitch wildly.

Was this really how someone of his age should be acting?

But no matter what, he knew that his master had a point.

Rather than worry about things that would only occur in the future, what he should be doing was focus on raising his current strength level!

"Fine…" Lu Tianzi sighed helplessly before picking up his sword once again. "Here goes!"

Even though his previous attempt had ended in an anticlimactic manner, Lu Tianzi had still managed to learn from the experience.

This time, he took care not to make the same mistakes, bursting forth with a sword strike that far exceeded the one before!

Sword light flashed, wrapping around a terrifying wraith as they charged forth in unison.

The wraith might not be as intimidating as the ghastly apparition formed by the Howling Wraith Sword, but the energy within had already materialised in reality, fully capable of dealing direct damage to its target.

Lu Tianzi's sword strike flew across the cave chamber, smashing its way towards the walls on the other end of the cave chamber, only to dissipate in the end as well due to the protective layer.

But even so, the time taken for the sword strike to travel across the cave chamber had been more than enough for both Lu Tianzi and Xihuang Yuanfeng to judge its effectiveness.

Only that the reactions of the two individuals differed from one another.

Lu Tianzi frowned in dissatisfaction, while Xihuang Yuanfeng widened his eyes in shock.

To Lu Tianzi, even though there had been some improvements, the second attempt still had far too many flaws within.

Even though he was the one who had performed the sword strike, Lu Tianzi could not help but feel embarrassed by it.

However, Xihuang Yuanfeng's perspective was entirely different.

After all, he knew better than anyone else just how profound the Eternal Wraith Sword Art truly was.

Long ago when he was still trying to master the Eternal Wraith Sword Art for himself, it took him years in order to fully master each of the different stages.

Lu Tianzi being able to master the Howling Wraith Sword so quickly could still be attributed to good fortune.

But in just his second attempt at the Returning Wraith Sword, Lu Tianzi had already managed to resolve most of the flaws that had been present in his first try.

Xihuang Yuanfeng did not remember how long it took for him to reach such a state, but it was definitely a duration measured in months!

In comparison, the time taken by Lu Tianzi was utterly ridiculous, teetering on the verge of being impossible!

Just what kind of comprehension ability did this Lu Tianzi possess?

At this rate, it probably would not take long before Lu Tianzi fully mastered the entire set of the Eternal Wraith Sword Art!

Exhilaration.

This was the one word to describe what Xihuang Yuanfeng was feeling right now.

He had no idea what happened to Lu Tianzi during the time he was away, but it was definite that Lu Tianzi's comprehension ability had suddenly risen by leaps and bounds.

It seems like the day he would regain his freedom was probably not as far into the future as he imagined!
