"Desella are you kidding me? How are we going to reach that castle? Forget about the castle, you see this cliff here? You are the will, but I am a human. I can't fly or are you thinking about teleportation again?"
Severus asked dumbfoundedly.
Although he was never afraid of anything in his previous life but after reincarnation, several things changed. Moreover, he can't die, he just can't before he takes his revenge.
Desella sighed.
"No, I can't teleport us to there. If I do, he will know about our presence. No one knows what traps he may be hiding there for us."
"So, How are we going to cross it?"
"Wait"
Desella surveyed around her.
Far away in the corner, she saw a very thin log joining two sides of the cliff.
"Ummm…..Severus."
"Yea"
"Do you have acrophobia?"
"Acrophobia, fear of heights. No, I don't. What happened? Why are you asking about my phobias?"
"Nothing, nothing" She waved her hand in relief.
"It's nice. Since you don't have acrophobia, let us climb that log then"
Desella spoke so fast that it took some time for Severus to finally understand what she meant. However, he was bewildered when he processed what she said.
Cross the log.
Desella pointed towards a log, far away.
Severus"..."
He was shocked.
He looked at Desella as he was seeing a ghost.
Although she isn't because she is a will.
"You...you….are you sure? Do you want to climb on that thread? Have you gone nuts? Who knows if that log can balance my weight, not to forgot that you will be also riding it. Even if it is strong enough, what about balance? You see, the cliff down there. Fk, it's so dark that I can't even see it's base. Who knows what will be waiting for us, if we slipped. Think about it. Maybe a place full of carnivorous serpents or a pit of lave. We, oh no me will die a horrible and painful death"
Desella's expressions were meak. She knew it will take courage to ride that log but there was no other option left. She was helpless too.
"She smiled sweetly, "What if there is no such thing, down there?"
Severus cracked a sarcastic smile" Don't tell me, down there is a magical place having gorgeous and sexy girls, who are waiting for a man to fall down from the bridge."
Desella"....."
Desella didn't know how to react. She wasn't comfortable about the second scenario.
"Look, there is really no other way. You need to climb that thread, uff I mean that log. Don't you worry? I won't let you fall"
'Will never let you fall in the hands of other women', Desella mumbled.
"Huh, did you said anything?"
Desella face heated in an instant. No, don't just chit-chat here. Follow me.
Severus"....."
Chit-Chat
Wasn't she is the only one that is doing chit-chat?
Nevermind.
Severus didn't harp on it and followed Desella.
Soon they came in front of the log.
"You sure we need to do this?", Severus asked in hesitation.
However Desella was very strict about it, "We don't have any other options left."
Severus accepted his fate.
Severus quickly kneeled on one of his legs"Come cling on my back"
"Ehhh...why?", Desella asked in surprise.
Severus looked at her as if he was looking at an idiot."Can you fly? Even if you can fly, you will be using magic for it. I don't know about you but I surely don't want to fight with a demon while standing on that thread"
Desella"...."
....
Uhhh
Desella nearly forgot that using magic will alert the enemy thus she din;t bantered on this topic and quickly climbed on Severus back. Severus gripped her tight and took a deep breath."Ready, steady, let's go"
With that, he steadily stepped on the log.
"Oooof's this is so damn slippery"
Severus instantly cried out. He knew that they both will be doomed if he slipped so he focused on his steps.
Severus tried focusing whereas Desella was also quiet. She feared her voice may distract Severus.
The journey was tenacious. Every next second, Severus felt like he would slip but thanks to his intense training as a knight helped him. Not for a once did he looked down because he knew it, the once he will look down, he will fall for sure. It was a chilly night with the dark mist everywhere. This mist Chilled him to the core. He persisted for so long because of his martial arts practise and his concentration, which really helped them.
"OOOOf"
Severus felt his knees go weak as soon as he crossed the bridge. With a plop, he kneeled down and they both fell on the ground, however, Severus was one step fast and didn't let Desella fall.
Desella's mind went haywire. She didn't come to realisation for a very long time. She just remembers that she was sitting beside Severus and whereas he was lying on the floor. His heavy breathing and high pulse told her that he was worn out. It was an exerting task that not only demanded physical strength whereas mental strength too. One needs to have high mental tolerance for completing this task. And of curse fate plays a crucial part too.
"Severus are you okay?"
She softly asked but Severus didn't reply. She waited for some time but he didn't say even a word. She didn't force him either after he didn't reply to her.
She just waited there while sitting. She hugged her knees and stared at Severus.
"Stop Staring at me. I am not dead"
A husky voice mixed with fatigue resounded. Desella pupil widened and she grinned while standing on her toes.
"I knew it, I hella knew it, that we will cross this together and see we did it"
"Yea we really did it", Severus too commented.
Desella quietly observed Severus for fatigues but still asked the question."Now are you okay or want to rest a bit more?"
Although Severus was tired, he didn't say it aloud. "It's okay I can manage. Let's head up"
No matter how much reluctant she was, she was aware of the current situation thus she quietly obliged. They both walked stealthily and finally climbed the steep mountain.
"Damn why is this demon living in so remote place. Even the roads are rugged and steep. One slip and you are done for. The heck!!!"
"Preposterous"
Desella cursed him, again and again. She was now fed up with the long route. Finally, the route ended and they both came and stood in front of the giant gate. The castle which was looking tiny from afar now looked huge.
Creak!
Clank! Severus lightly pushed the iron gate but they clanked. The rusty gate screeched producing a metal voice.
"Come on, let's go inside", Severus asked Desella to follow her.
The castle was huge. It looked like old castles of folklores where dragons used to live. Giant iron fences covered the perimeter of the castle whereas spooky sculptures were present everywhere. The only source of light in this dark night was the hazy moon and some torch lights. Severus and Desella didn't dwell on the castle's scenery. After all, the last thing they wanted was too stuck in one of Tishn's trap. Who knows what type of traps there maybe?
Severus led the way. Severus spent an entire lifetime inside the castle plus he was also the shadow knight so he was more or less aware of the basic architecture of the castle. With his keen knowledge and intelligence, he soon found that way to the royal chamber but he wasn't prepared to see what he saw there.
The demon Tishn was laying on his bed, half-naked and other half was covered with his bedsheet. With one hand he was holding a glass of wine while the other was resting beside his head. It was just a lazy position.
Desella and Severus jaws dropped on the ground when they saw this. According to Desella's description f this demon, shouldn't he be practising or else mediating for increasing his powers but here he was lazying around. Nicely sipping the exotic wine.
Tishn human form looked no less than a handsome hero but his features gave him an evil charm. Although he still lagged behind Severus on a scale of charms but he does own an evil attraction. Any women maybe get charmed by his evil smile and playful nature.
The demon who was nicely sipping his wine noticed the movement and glanced up to meet newcomers. His gaze collided with Severus's gaze and a malicious glint flashed in his eyes. He was a little surprised but soon his expressions were back to normal as if he expected their arrival.
"You people are really fast. I am impressed", A cold voice greeted Severus.
Severus wasn't a prince but he was well aware of the royal manners and diplomacy. He curtly soft down his tone and replied, "Pleasure is all ours, your majesty". The way he spoke was not at all like a servant greeting his master but he also didn't disrespect Tishn. This trick impressed Tishn and his curiousness toward Severus increased by leaps and bounds.
