Her hair moved with the wind; blue eyes that reflected the night skies, her beauty was magnified by the darkness. Those serious eyes of her as they stare at the depths of my soul; the powerful aura she carried makes me feel inferior.
“How have you been, Ayu-chi?” she responded with a smile.
The smile looked a bit forced almost like she wasn’t confident with something, a mysterious kind that made me wonder how her brain works but even then, the smile looked beautiful. It had a small drop of sadness, happiness, and longing mixed together, creating an imperfect smile filled with all three kinds of emotions: the dark emotion, the good emotion, and the neutral emotion.
“It’s been a while since someone used that name on me…. Well, all I can say is I was treated like I was in the purgatory for the entire ten months,” I smiled wryly before laying down on the grass as her smile turned wry.
“I can tell, moth—your mother is the kind of person who always wants people to live up to her expectation while also not wanting to hurt the people she loves… I can tell she did her best on improving your strength so far,” she answered while sitting down beside me as the two of us looked at the night skies.
The moon had changed from before I had woken up, the formerly blue moon was now drenched in a blanket of blood. It was a rare sight; the light of the moon was magnanimous that even the stars around it bowed down; even when drenched in blood, the moon looked beautiful.
“Well, all I know for sure is she did her best in beating me up…” I responded back before a cute giggle escaped from her face, a natural smile replaced all other smiles of her. It felt more beautiful to see, a smile that made my heart stutter a bit. It was the smile that I fell for in the past; a smile that can make you trust her.
“Although… I know for sure I had disappointed her within the ten months,” I reached my hand towards the skies before turning towards Kaori, “I could see her disappointment at the very end, knowing that I hadn’t succeeded her final examination…”
“You don’t have to say that… Moth—your mother is more than happy to see you grow at least a little bit, the reason why she is disappointed is most likely because she couldn’t be there to protect you more… she isn’t disappointed about your strength but disappointed in herself…” she rebuked in a soft yet angry voice, staring straight into my eyes.
“I wonder…” I mumbled before retracting my hand as I looked at her with a smile, “I wonder what my purpose in this world is, to be honest… I am a weak person inside, relying on the gifts of the world to look strong but always fail in everything…”
All of a sudden, the terminal appeared in front of me as if looking at me with anger. There were no inputs nor outputs on the terminal, it only appeared in front of me as if telling me its anger from what I had said.
“Isn’t this the administrator terminal we built in the past, wasn’t her name Julia?” Kaori suddenly spoke while looking at the terminal, surprising me a bit as a sudden revelation came to my mind.
“Julia… right, the AI-controlled terminal that handles all the affairs of the world…” I said with surprise before Kaori touched the terminal as several dozens of windows appeared around us almost like a scene in a science fiction movie.
All the windows displayed a category of setting, control, and even settings of the world which shocked me as they were settings I had never seen before. It was as if I was looking at the entire admin dashboard of the world.
“This is surprising… have you tried playing around with the terminal?” she asked while sitting up as she looked around the windows, reading each setting and understanding them within a span of a few seconds.
“I haven’t since most features that I wanted were still locked behind a higher terminal level…” I said before she suddenly smacked me on the head as she smiled beautifully.
“You are such an idiot despite being one of the developers, the highest privilege of the terminal system is the Administrator Access and Terminal privilege. These two can be used to control several factors of the world, take a look at this…” she said before pointing at a hue circle.
Turning the hue towards the color of blue, a sudden cold breeze flew past us as she pointed at the moon which had turned blue. I was utterly speechless as she looked at me with a bright smile.
“You can do that?!” I looked at her with shock.
“That’s not all…” she said before moving her hand towards an empty box at a nearby window, drawing a heart on the empty box as another cold breeze flew past us before she pointed at the skies where a single cloud could be seen.
A single cloud in the shape of a heart could be seen on the skies, beautifully floating around as I looked at her with surprise.
“Actually… this is the byproduct of your current terminal level which unlocks Value Manipulation which if paired together with Administrator Access and Terminal can be used to control several factors of the world and even items…” she said.
“Why do you know more about this than me?” I asked before she giggled.
“Did you forget? I was the one who developed the entire terminal system from scratch, of course, I would be the person who understands it more than anyone else…” she smiled before pointing at the corner of the center window, “You can even see my name over there with the terminal version which means it is the same terminal as the one I made…”
The corner of the center window had the alias: “Ka-yumi” which surprised me a bit as everything around me turned dark as her shy voice whispered into my ear, “That was an accident… it was for copyright reasons, alright?!”
“What’s with that alias?” I asked while peeling her hand away as she looked at me embarrassed.
Deep inside, I understood what the alias meant… it was both of our names combined which is understandable at first glance… it kind of made me happy inside but it also made me a bit conflicted as Kaori’s place in my heart was replaced by Mana already.
Had I known about that short alias in the past, I can see myself smiling in bed while cuddling my body pillow for an entire night. I couldn’t help but giggle as I smiled at Kaori who was looking at me with embarrassment before suddenly positioning herself on my lap as she looked at me with a determined look on her face.
“I already know about the fact that I had lost importance on you… but I still won’t give up on you, remember that, okay?” she declared while grabbing my cheeks, pulling my gaze towards her as she looked at me determined.
“I understand,” I smiled before her face paled, causing me to be surprised as a cough came from behind, bringing shivers on my spine as my entire body turned numb. Turning around, a scary-looking Mana could be seen standing there with both of her hands on her hips.
“To think that the person who disguised herself as an aide is, in fact, my dear’s ex-crush and also my rival in love… how N I C E to hear…” she said which caused more shivers on my spine.
