Solvi thought on what Eldrian had shared deeply. Eldrian used that time to observe the forge in its entirety. It was very different from Boran's. Of course, she was a Tier higher than him, at least before his breakthrough.
There were three forges inside the room, each against one of the room's walls right in the center of said wall. The last wall had a collection of tools hung against it, and a soft glow was visible on all the walls. Clearly, there was some sort of array surrounding the room.
Its purpose was unknown, but Eldrian had a few guesses. The most prominent two being; to keep others from spying on her work, or keeping things contained should she fail in forging. Maybe both.
While Eldrian was curious and wanted to use mana sense to try and get the answers, he decided to keep from doing so as a show of manners. Even if she wouldn't know about it.
"I think I understand what you are saying. When I teach someone who is wholly new to smithing, those actions of determining how far to move the hammer, how hard to hit, how to hold the hammer. They are all important and must be considered."
"However, over time and practice, this becomes second nature and no longer requires any thought."
Eldrian nodded, as that was also how he saw it.
"However, I am afraid you failed to take into account my experience. While I do indeed have years of experience forging and using magic, I do not have years of experience controlling my mana."
"I have always guided my mana through my spells, never taking control, as I believe you meant and have."
Eldrian nodded, he felt that it wouldn't take much to bridge the gap. However, there was still a gap that needed to be bridged before someone could attempt to have it be subconscious. Heck, Eldrian wasn't even at that step yet, even though he knew what he was aiming for.
"Then, my first step will be to overwhelm my mana with my will. Let's see," Holding out her hand, a small flame flew from the forge to her side and floated above her hand. The sight gave Eldrian a shock as he quickly used mana sense to figure out what was going on.
'I always failed to control an element already in existence. How did she do this?' He asked as he saw that the flame was special in its own way. It was a mix of normal flames and magical flames.
The difference between the two? Well, that is that normal flames have little to no mana in them and actually cause the surrounding mana to slowly convert to the flame element.
Magical flames instead are filled with mana as that is what sustains and created it. Contrary to a real fire, it draws the fire elements from the surroundings to sustain itself.
Of course, a magical flame can birth real flames. Which is not something that should be ignored.
This mixture she had floating over her hand existed without drawing or releasing any flame elements. At least outside of her own mana, which Eldrian realized she was trying to control.
'That is quite brilliant. Using this flame allows her to truly test whether she has gained control or if it is the spell that is mimicking control.' Eldrian smiled, sad that they couldn't wait till she made some progress before making his spear.
Pelaros had been clear on his wishes, and how long it would truly take was unknown.
Suddenly, the flame flickered as it burst apart. Sighing, Solvi looked at Eldrian and smiled. "I think I understood what you meant, however, it won't be easy for me to accomplish it. It feels like I am trying to use my feet to write when I attempted it."
Eldrian smiled hearing her explanation, it was quite a clever way to say it. "I am glad you seemed to have understood. Honestly, I have no idea how to really explain it since I had to come to the conclusion and wording myself."
"You did well, now tell me, how can that be the case, and yet you have no titles to boast about?"
Flustered, Eldrian quickly explained that the Chosen could decide whether they want their titles shown or not. "Don't worry though, we can't hide stains."
"Oh, then how many titles do you have?"
"A few," Eldrian replied, and seeing her stare he decided to show a few relating to magic. Making the following visible: One who controls mana, Modifier, Master of the basics, One with Mana.
Keeping these hidden, as he felt it would be a bit too much and likely lead to further questioning: 'Facing death, and not succumbing', Legacy Creation, Curse Breaker, Devil's Bane.
Solvi's eyes grew as Eldrian added them one by one, when he had a total of four she looked at him with slight reverence. It must be known, in lore, heroes would have upwards of 3 or more titles reflecting their field of expertise. (Not general titles such as Army Commander, or King)
Eldrian just showed that he had four, and Solvi suspected that he was still hiding a few.
Taking a deep breath to calm down, and downing a jug of water from one of her barrels. There was three water barrels, either for drinking or extinguishing a fire.
"That is quite impressive, and they all have to do with magic. You will, no, you must certainly be quite an amazing mage."
"That is why I keep them hidden, I don't want that much attention."
"I can understand that." Solvi nodded and downed another jug, "Let us return to the topic of your spear-" Pausing, she looked at Eldrian and questioned why he would want a spear if he was so great with magic.
"But... Excuse me if this is out of line, but wouldn't a staff be better?"
Eldrian smiled and shook his head no. "If I were in some sort of party where I was always protected and allowed to focus on magic, then maybe. However, I normally fight alone or with just a few trusted friends."
"In most cases, things quickly become hairy and a staff, I don't think that would do as good as a spear."
Solvi nodded, understanding where he was coming from. "Is this why you asked that the abilities of the spear should focus on sustaining you? Are you planning to use it as some sort of mana crystal?"
"If I am able to focus on casting my spells, then yes, that is what I hope to do." Eldrian replied, not at all ashamed of it.
"Then, what about we aim to make it a hybrid between a staff and spear."
"What do you mean?"
"No, that wouldn't work. The methods of creation are too contrasting to actually work, and I don't want to risk it failing and thus ruining all the materials you have given and paid for." Solvi quickly gave up on the idea.
Nodding, Eldrian didn't push for an explanation of what the possibility was. He would much rather have a solid weapon than a unique one if going for a unique one meant there was a chance of not having any weapon.
