Eldrian moved closer, slowly. Carefully to not step on the cracks, afraid doing so might cause the roof to finally fall in.
He dared not take up the spear, fearing it might cause the fragile room to collapse. However, he did reach out to touch it, and as he did the system informed him that he did not meet the requirements to bind the spear to him.
[User does not meet the requirements to soulbond with the weapon.]
Sighing, he used mana sense to get a feel for what the spear would be capable of. His urge to grow stronger suddenly grew as an itch to equip the spear sprung up from his inner geek.
The spear was just as tall as Aoidos (around an arm's length taller than Eldrian, 240cm/8ft), with the winged silver-blue Mythril front blade around his arm's length (60cm/24in). The wings were in the form of crescent moons, with dark golden runes and three different crystals just slightly visible.
The crystals were from left to right, a bright red, bright green, and ice blue. The lights of the crystals lightly peaked out from behind the dark gold runes, giving it a mystical appearance. Almost like the sleeping eyes of a dragon that was squinting at a disturbance.
Behind the wings, the Exousia wood had wrapped across the blade's hilt in a magnificent pattern that smoothly flowed into the rest of the patterns that adorned the shaft. The dark purple back blade was held in a similar manner, the blade around the length of Eldrian's forearm (20cm/8in).
The voidstone was just barely visible, with the wood and adamantine most covering it. Appearing like a nestled dragon's egg.
[Crystoi - Tier 7 Magical Polearm]
[<As the material used to forge the spear was of far superior grade, the spear can be considered a semi-Tier 8 weapon. Having far superior stats compared to normal Tier 7 weapons.>]
[Damage (Front blade): 96 (234)]
[Damage (Back blade): 109 (266)]
[Attack Speed: 1.7 (4)]
(AN: Attack speed is an indication of the amount of 'complete' attacks that can be performed per second.)
[Durability: 1.25M]
(AN: Durability is only lost when clashing with weapons/armor of similar or superior quality.)
[Attribute Requirements:]
[Strength: 480; Agility: 480; Spirit: 360; Intelligence: 480]
{Eldrian's stats: Strength: 244; Agility: 327; Spirit: 246; Intelligence: 267}
(AN: Attirubute requirements are required to 'equip' the weapon, not to wield it. However, not meeting them does mean that the weapon's abilities would be locked from its user. As they are not strong enough to draw them out.)
Sighing, Eldrian knew that it was going to be some time until he could actually equip the spear and make use of its abilities. His 20 free attributes were not going to cover it.
However, it was still an amazing weapon regardless. Even if he would be incapable of using its abilities, it would still be amazing. Eldrian doubted there would be many things capable of taking a hit from this and not ending up destroyed.
[Passive abilities:]
[Attunement: Through soul-bonding with the Crystoi, you will be bound to it and only it. And as a result, you will always be connected to the spear.]
[15% increase in all attributes]
[Special Ability: ??]
'That... How are there question marks! Dammit!' Sighing, Eldrian tried to move past the disappointment of realizing that not everything was going to be knowable. 'Maybe Solvi will know?' He wondered and hoped.
With that hope, he managed to finally focus on how insane that bonus would be. Fifteen percent might not sound like much, but to the current him that was at minimum 30 points in each attribute. In fact, it would be more.
To someone meeting the requirements, it would be 60 points or more.
However, that was if it worked based on total stats and not some other condition. Eldrian was unsure, but he ignored that question for now as he continued to read through the other abilities.
[Fortis: Power flows naturally through that which has gained the right to be called strong.]
[10MP/5s]
Eldrian paused upon seeing the value, simply thunderstruck at how much it was. His current MP/5s with all his equipment was only 8.6. This single part of the weapon would more than double his mana regen speed. An insane thought.
[Elemental Boost: With all parts coming together and working in unison, it is capable to use to spear as a conduit for casting spells. Doing so will greatly increase the spell's power, however, it will double the cast time.]
[Natural Elements: 40% boost in power]
[Hybrid Elements: 12% boost in power]
This, Eldrian wasn't too excited about. However, considering that Tier 7 weapons were meant to be used by Tier 6 people at the minimum, it did mean that the spells that could be cast would be vastly different from what Eldrian was used to.
'It would be quite strong if I need to cast a strong AOE spell and was given time to really push it to its limits.' Eldrian had to admit it, and quickly he wished he could test it. Unfortunately, the abilities would be locked from him until he met the attribute requirements.
Unless he somehow found another way to access them, outside of equipping the spear via the system. When this thought entered his mind, Eldrian couldn't get it to leave.
He stood there dumbly, staring at the spear for another five minutes before managing to get out of his own thoughts and return to the spear's abilities.
[Active Abilities:]
[Elemental Alignment: Calling to the elements, it is possible to cover the Mythril blade with fire, ice, or wind element. Adding 75% magical damage in the form of the chosen element.]
<Magical damage via a weapon is similar to how the physical damage is calculated. Only with intelligence instead of strength or agility being the base stat of growth.>
[Cost (activation): 1000MP]
[Drain: 72MP per attack + 50MP/5s]
'That, is goddam expensive.' Eldrian realized that it was also really strong, however, the current him would only be able to activate it and then attack three or four times. Still, the damage wasn't something to be ignored as it would be added to the physical damage.
[Tempest Chase: Call to the elements and bring havoc to those who stand in its path.]
[Effect: Summon strong winds along with either flames or ice as a mini-tornado.]
[Cost: 3000MP]
[Duration: 30 seconds + 5 seconds per 500MP (Up to 3 minutes)]
[Damage (Per second):]
[Fire&Wind - 100 (N/A)]
[Ice&Wind - 100 (N/A)]
[???}
'That... That looks really strong, but it seems hard to actually use. But, it kind of is what asked for, something to give me some breathing room. A tornado chasing my opponent would certainly do that.'
Eldrian didn't quite know what to think, and seeing that the last ability was hidden from him, he wondered more what it could be than pondering on the effectiveness of Tempest Chase.
'And what a name, whoever does come up with them? Is it the smith or the system? Or maybe the god of forging?' Eldrian pondered as he finally decided to reach out to take the spear.
"Leave it, if you take it out now the room will collapse," Solvi said just as Eldrian's fingers brushed over the shaft.
"Re-really?" Eldrian questioned while quickly withdrawing his hand.
"Yes, near the end I was forced to strike it into the floor and focus all the energy of my formations to keep it contained. I would have died if I hadn't" Solvi replied, looking at the spear with a hint of fear.
What had caused her to go to such extremes was exactly the sixth (third active) ability of the spear. Even she didn't know what it would do, only that it was truly dangerous. Whether her forging room would have been the limit of its range, she didn't know.
