His waiting was for naught as Zamia used wind magic to talk. Smiling as if he had been caught redhanded, Eldrian explained why they had come and also that he didn't have the question he had come with.
"Interesting, you thought that all Alicorns might have an aura?" Agamemas said with some amusement and a chuckle, the Alicorns had all taken their elven forms to make communication more natural.
"I don't think that anymore, but I still don't quite get how you are able to connect with mana so seamlessly."
"Base affinity, but that isn't all you are curious about."
"There is a lot more, but for now let's focus on telepathic connections and communications. I've been wondering how it works." Eldrian said, refraining from mentioning his recent breakthrough, wary that he was being monitored by Miracle.
Agamemas smiled, "What are you hoping for?"
"The first thing I am thinking is connecting with other Chosen, we already have a form of communication but it isn't as direct as the telepathic link. If that fails, I hope I might be able to make use of it myself for when I want to talk with Ceph in a silent manner."
"You have- Ah, it must be the chat function Erik talked about." Zamia nodded as she recalled that.
"Speaking of, where is he, and Akarui?"
"Akarui is currently busy trying to go through a breakthrough and Erik is staying with her as moral support," Zamia replied. "If she succeeds her life should no longer be in danger.'
'That's wonderful news... I should really talk with my friends more often...' Eldrian suddenly felt guilty for not having messaged Erik during the past few days.
However, his guilt was quickly overshadowed by his curiosity. He doubted anything would go wrong with Agamemas and Zamia in the forest and able to respond if the need arose.
"We can explain how it worked, but without a true connection to mana you cannot summon a link. You might have managed that connection once, but you are still a ways off from replicating that."
Eldrian nodded and asked them to explain it through a telepathic link so he could study connections while they caught up.
As soon as the link formed, Eldrian immediately realized something truly peculiar and confirmed a speculation he had had for a while now. 'So it really is simply a mental connection?'
'Oh, you could tell?' Agemamas raised an eye in surprise, Eldrian having forgotten to keep his thoughts personal. Used to not keeping things from Ceph.
'Yeah, I recently discovered that all magic is conducted through mana.'
'Isn't that obvious?'
'Maybe, but I mean more that I confirmed that even divine mana is the same as elemental, which again is the same as death.'
'What are you talking about?' Ceph asked in confusion, he couldn't understand how any of those types of magic could be similar to pure elemental magic. Especially death, it was a horrid thing that sapped all the life of everything it came into contact with.
'Just listen, let's first hear what he has to say before questioning.' Zamia said, her thoughts confused too.
Saying that all aspects of magic used the same mana was a new one. It was known that they all used mana, but mana in different forms. Forms that did not react with one another and could not be converted to another.
'Where should I start? I guess this is a good place,' Eldrian shared his most recent discovery with Two. Even sharing a small snippet of watching the spin of the node.
Naturally, as dynamic magic users the Alicorns had never needed to use spell modules. Zamia and Agamemas had studied a few, but never as intricately as Eldrian. Ceph had never even tried to look at one.
Where Eldrian focused on the basics of what made up the module, they had focused on the effects of it and how to make use of it as either a dynamic spell or array. For sometimes just seeing a thing in action is not enough to copy it. You had to also understand how it worked.
'And you really think this simple spin can determine the aspects of magic?' Agamemas asked with a healthy amount of disbelief.
'Of course not, the spin is likely something created by Skepsi to give people with lesser talent a chance at using magic. And it will also be limited to what she wants them to be able to cast.'
'This, I presume, is one of the largest reasons why the divine aspect is unreachable. Death aspect- that is one that might be passable through emotions. I don't know enough about the devil's aspect of emotional manipulation to comment on it.'
'Okay... What's the point?' Zamia asked, she could follow along but couldn't quite jump to the conclusion, obviously. Eldrian hadn't even shared a tenth of what he had used to come to his conclusion so that was natural.
'Well, I think what the spins do are just shift the frequencies of mana to an aspect's level. And then depending on your affinity to that aspect, you will be able to feel and interact with it or not.'
'Certainly an interesting theory, but how can you know this is what is happening. What if it isn't a frequency but something else?' Zamia asked with slight concern, diving into magic with the wrong assumptions was far worse than diving in with the wrong estimates.
One was just slightly off the mark, the other was not even in the same ballpark.
'I don't really know if it is frequencies or something else. It might be that the mana is elevated between planes. That doesn't matter as I can still feel the mana knowing this. Knowing that it is there but not as I am used to is all that I needed.'
Eldrian hadn't found ether through changing the frequencies he was searching for, he wasn't a machine that could actually perceive and alter frequencies he sensed. What he could do was search for something he was missing, knowing that the thing was there and he was just looking over or through it.
'Did you succeed?' Ceph asked, the only one who wasn't focused on the theory and implications, but instead on how Eldrian was sharing things. It told him that Eldrian had confirmed his theories already and wasn't debating but sharing his discovery.
'I did,' Eldrian replied with a smile, 'Where elemental mana felt like their respective elements and raw mana like a bundle of energy; ether felt like a physical connection. I haven't yet had the time to focus in on it, but I am quite confident that with time I will be able to do more than just feel it.'
'Then- Your comment when I made the connection-?' Agamemas asked with a healthy amount of shock.
'Yes, I felt the connection as a mental connection. It is more like the push of a mana crystal, but instead it forms a bridge. Rather, this is almost identical to how I summoned the spell modules in the magic abyss.'
'It is similar to a spell module, but instead of something static, it is dynamic. No wonder Itireae said it is so hard to use.'
'You think you can make one?' Ceph asked enthusiastically, Eldrian being able to also make the link would be a very good thing. He would no longer have to continually try and read what Eldrian wanted when they were with other people.
Why didn't they just always keep a connection going? Well, it was mentally draining to the one sustaining the link. It was fine to do so when needed, but doing so when just having a casual conversation with others would be like acting formally at a party.
Of course, needing to observe Eldrian was basically the same. Ceph hoped he could finally just relax and listen to interesting conversations.. He still believed that Elizabeth was Eldrian's crush. No doubt!
