All in all, the bonus he had gained was not that big. The largest attribute increase was Spirit and it was only 5 points. While the largest stat increase was HP, and this one was far more noticeable with a 50 point increase.
'That must be why Milgoroth managed to survive so long. He must have gained a massive amount of HP from all those he had killed.' This made Eldrian feel better about what he had done and how he had gained the bonus.
Looking again at Vivian's training figure, Eldrian decided to postpone any decisions. Instead, he moved forward and said morning to the scarred beauty. The past month had not been kind to her and many might find her scars off-putting. To Eldrian they told a tale and he could relate to that more than anything.
"You're back!" Vivian immediately stopped her training and rushed in for a hug. "I heard there was a big fight and that you were involved."
"Only in the end," Eldrian replied and returned the hug, after which the two sat down and talked for an hour or so. Naturally, Eldrian was someone who stood out in a crowd. An elf was rare enough, one with silver hair even more so. As such, news quickly spread through the camp that the elf who had disappeared had returned.
"What?" Vivian nearly shouted the word in her shock as Eldrian explained all that had happened. She didn't know what to say.
Not only had he found a way to push back the undead and fought in the defense of the attack on the wall, he had also killed the soul of a Tier 8 devil prince. The Devil Prince who just days before had nearly claimed their lives.
Naturally, Eldrian was aware that he was being observed so he kept his explanation as he had explained to Joren. However, it was enough to leave Vivian without words.
Eldrian also realize that he was really close to reaching Vivian's stats. She was a hundred ahead in all but spirit and intelligence. This realization gave him a weird feeling, especially when he recalled how he used to lose without being able to defend just a month back.
However, he also realized that her stats were higher than the average Tier 4. Much higher. 'It must be Nelida's Flame, I recall she basically doubled in strength when she received it.'
This made Eldrian feel even weirder, and also made him wonder just how stat enhancements of items worked. As the case with Vivian seemed to be permanent, even if she did not have her sword with her.
As the two were talking they were interrupted by one of the centaur guards, "Excuse me, but the king is looking for you."
Nodding, Eldrian told Vivian that he would come back later and went with the guard.
"Haru, is it?" The king asked as soon as Eldrian entered the room.
"Yes," Eldrian nodded and looked around the room. It was filled with 8 people, Bringïrr was one of them and Eldrian also realized that Katania and Evale were there. The other 5 he did not know.
"We have confirmed that what you proposed indeed works, however, the undead have realized that we found a method to combat them and have started to actively patrol the border."
Eldrian sighed hearing this, unsure if it was his reckless test or them testing to see if his words were true. However, whichever it was didn't matter, what did was that they had given away their chance at taking them by surprise.
"Yes, it is indeed sad that they are wary, however, they are also spread thin. We can't launch a full-scale attack as we too are spread too thin, however, you Chosen might be able to do something."
Eldrian looked at the king, failing to understand what he meant. The explanation was simple and also one he should have expected but had forgotten due to his unique circumstance with the game and how death was not all that simple when considering devils and undead.
"You do not die, instead you resurrect. So, we were hoping that you would take the others and launch repeated attacks against the undead. You are capable, extremely capable as I was informed."
Naturally, after realizing that all that Eldrian had said was true the king had gathered all the information he could on the elf. While his first impression had been that of an unruly arrogant person, the king realized that Eldrian was truly talented and might have a reason behind his arrogance.
Just a few months, around 4 to reach Tier 3 was impressive. Even more so since Eldrian didn't learn static magic, but instead made use of semi-dynamic. Naturally, the king only knew that Eldrian could control his spells and thus thought he was casting spells fully as other High Elves.
A thing that normally took elves 100's of years to master. Naturally, the king believed that being a Chosen must have made learning magic easier for the elf as it did reportedly for other Chosen. But it was still impressive.
"That is true, however, death isn't something we look forward to. We-"
"I know, you lose levels similar to how we do when we are revived. Still, your revival isn't a question of if but rather a certainty. The lasting effects are also far lighter on you, almost nonexistent compared to what we go through if we are revived."
"I also can't speak for the others-"
"I just brought this up first since it was were the conversation started. Naturally, you would all be well compensated. We can discuss the details later, first," Turning to Bringïrr the king asked, "Why was the Devil Prince after you and why were the dwarves protecting you?"
Looking at Bringïrr who just shrugged, Eldrian had no idea if he should share what was going on or not. After a bit of thinking, he decided against it. Again, Pelaros was not here and he was the person Eldrian was most comfortable sharing things with.
While Evale and Katania were friendly, they had not been as forthcoming and helpful as Pelaros. The rest Eldrian did not know nearly well enough. As a result, Eldrian just shrugged and threw it back onto Bringïrr to answer the question.
"We received news that a devil was aiming to cripple your forces. We had thought that he would aim for your life," Bringïrr said looking at the king, "As your neighbors, naturally, we wish for you to stand strong. It was quite a shock when instead the devil tried to kill the elf."
"However, hearing what he has accomplished, it makes sense since he is far less guarded than you. Luckily, I happened to be near when the attack started. The kitsune and cat girl's quick actions had enabled me to intervene as my brothers came to encircle the devil."
The king nodded, having no reason to doubt the explanation. Taurus had always had a good relationship with the Ganalin dwarves, thus he did not think that they had tried to stay in the shadows for malicious reasons. Rather they had most likely stayed hidden to surprise the devil.
Of course, there was no reason that Ganalin would wish Taurus ill. It would just mean they would end up stuck in the middle of the enemy. Having to fight both underground and atop.
Having open trade between Ganalin and Taurus while each fought their own wars instead was far more beneficial for both. And while Farest would welcome reinforcements, he didn't expect nor would he ask for any as he knew the dwarves were also fighting.
Thesolis was also not in this meeting as she was again busy maintaining the formations on the walls, hence she couldn't voice that the dwarves had been there with the previous attack.
