Chapter 56 - The Event(6/?)

'Now Group A will finally start huh..'

Thinking this, the Captain of Group B looked at the Arena. Seeing the first 10 enter while the others stayed behind, he was surprised.

'I thought his objective would be to reduce their numbers to win..then why isn't he attacking...? It looks like...'

"He's waiting for them"

Hearing someone of his group say this, he turned around to face the owner of the voice. With a smile, he added

"It's admirable for him to wait, but still..he could have taken advantage of it"

Nodding, the man replied

"I think he is sure to win even if they gather and surround him"

Sighing, the captain looked as the whole group entered the Arena.

'He's smiling..there is no doubt, he's convinced that he can defeat them all..'

"I wouldn't have expected less from the person who decided to organize such an event"

"We need to know his fighting style first.. It will be easier to know how to coordinate with others depending on the circ.u.mstances...in short words..."

'The last ones who face him will have an advantage'

Understanding this, the various Captains looked at each other. Some with an amused smile, someone else that didn't care and, for the few that wished to see Ethan's death, it didn't matter when, they just wanted to enter the battlefield and enjoy this event that threatened to become much more dangerous than expected...

Although most of them were focused on various strategies to be implemented, the situation from the perspective of the people who couldn't participate were different.

Although they didn't show up at first, Hyakinthos Clio, Apollo Familia's Captain wanted to know his weaknesses for the future.

'Apollo-sama wants to know more about him..so irritating...'

Without orders from Apollo, he had entered the Colosseum with his familia members but without attending the event.

"T-This event will not end well.. I h-had a vision..."

"how many times do I have to repeat it, I think you are confusing dreams with visions .."

Turning to look at her, Cassandra shook her head with her terrified expression still shown on her face

"I...they're not dreams! I beg you, we need to leave this place..!"

Holding the sleeve of her uniform, she added

"We don't have time..in a few hours..."

Even if she considered herself a rather calm person, the nonsense that Cassandra said made her angry

"And why should we be involved in the event?"

Pulling the sleeve even more aggressively, she answered

"It.. It won't be the e-event the cause...the Apollo Familia will be ruined..."

"P-Please believe me Daphne..it's the truth..."

Moving her hand away from her sleeve, she didn't believe her.

"It was a dream! Just a dream!"

Understanding she didn't want to trust her, Cassandra felt enormously sad but, without paying too much attention to it, she muttered

"I.. I warned you...but.."

Sighing, Daphne stared at Ethan

'If he's able to win this event, destroying the Apollo Familia isn't impossible, but we're talking about the Loki Familia, I don't think Apollo will dare to try something against him..in fact, Cassandra's dream is only a dream...'

With this conviction, she returned her attention to the ongoing battle

"It's a p.l.e.a.s.u.r.e to be able to fight against you, my name is Anika, the new Captain of Group A"

Seeing how quickly she shifted her behavior, Ethan was even more convinced something wasn't right

"I heard you give advices before, are you skilled with war strategies?"

Moving her eyebrows slightly, she replied

"I have experiences in War Games.."

Replying with a smile, he saw them implement the strategy they planned.

'I see, for now, I think showing my magic is enough... I'll maintain my [Boost Magic] to defend against sneak attacks'

Doing as he thought, he was ready to start the chant.

'I can probably knock them all with [Avian] but there are a lot of other groups, If I show them this technique they won't attack me in group....'

Slowing down his perception, he had some minutes to think about it.

'Think...to make them attack me in a group..'

Looking at the smiling face of Anika, he was still doubtful

'If I can make her think I can't face large groups at once, someone may have doubts, but still, it's better to show them my 'max power' regarding this new Technique. It isn't even a technique..'

Smiling again, he approached the ten 'sacrifices'

'I just need to trick most of them'

Deciding to 'fall into her trap', Ethan directed his boost in the legs. Knocking all the 10 out, he returned to his previous spot before he made his perception return to normal.

'it's quite tiring to have my perception slowed every time.. I guess I can do 4 or 5 but more than that would bring me to use nearly 50% of my mana pool'

'I see, does the technique bring physical stress? use a lot of mana? however, the limit should be related to the number of uses before it cannot be used for a while ... interesting'

Turning around, Anika made a bright smile to encourage everyone in her group

"Don't worry, you mages continue to chant in the rearguard! The others, I want 20 others to be the vanguard while you, Lewis, direct them as smooth as possible!"

Hearing her instructions, everyone did his job without hesitation. Completing their chants, they were able to see something similar to a storm where all the elements and spells headed in the same direction.

'I don't have time to use [Sagitta Magica]... I have no other choice'

Feeling the pressure on his arm, Ethan bit his lower lip

'I'll try to make them join in a single point, but I will have to be careful not to kill them'

Ready to punch against the spells, Anika felt her instincts scream at her to go away. Deciding to trust them, she shouted

"Change of plans, move east now!"

Hearing her, they understood something wasn't right but, the fact was that mages couldn't move while their spell was ongoing..

Looking at her, she was trying to think on a solution but, understanding it was impossible, she chose to leave them there.

'They were useful..'

Seeing the spells as attracted to Ethan, the bad feeling he had before intensified.

'I underestimated him..this cost me all the mages in the rear'

"Keep moving!"

After some seconds, she had no more time to run away.

'Wait a moment..if he's so busy dealing with the spells, I can use this chance..'

With this thought that made her smile again, she continued to give directions while everyone else was busy moving away quickly.

Seeing the spells to come up against him, Ethan used [Avian] to redirect them against the mages.

With his attack, the dust had risen all around the area, causing him to close his eyes while coughing

'I forgot..this soil type easily raises dust'

Feeling a dagger approaching his neck behind him, his [Qienta's Blessing] activated unconsciously. Slowing the blow enough to make him dodge in time, he turned around to see Anika stare at him with a hint of l.u.s.t

'I see, so it was why I felt this strange Aura around her..she's trying to kill me'

Clenching his fist, he asked

"I know it will be difficult to have a friendly conversation now, but would you be kind enough to tell me who sent you? Otherwise, I may react with the same tone"

Staring at her, he heard a laugh filled with madness but, the dust still made it impossible for him to see her clearly.

"You want to know who sent me? Do you think I'll reveal that information just because you asked?"

Continuing to laugh, she shouted with the madness still audible from her tone of voice

"Baaaka, you'll die today, so there's no point in telling you"

With a smile, he replied

"So, does that mean you will reveal who sent you if I manage to win this game?"

Giving him no time to continue to talk, she started to run while doing circles around him

"This type of ground is even better than normal to kill someone, tell me, in these two weeks did you train in perception?"

Stopping for a moment, she looked at him to see his reactions to her high-speed movements.

'the density of dust in the air is quite high...let's see if he can dodge again...wait..he isn't moving? Why..Maybe one of his weaknesses are these type of situations? it is understandable, considering that he trained for only 2 weeks'

Although she still had some paralysing effect from his blessing, Akina had her base stats higher than Ethan, so she felt as if the arm was slowed for a moment. Feeling the difficulty in moving the arm disappear, she finally realized she was under the effect of a skill

'Another skill? Maybe against sneak attacks? But if it's just slowing that doesn't mean I won't be able to kill him..even if it's risky, I thought it was the perfect chance..but it wasn't... I can just return to the group or trying to kill him now..'

Still busy to think about this, she decided to at least confirm her previous theory. Using her high-speed movements, she went behind him without making a single sound.

Approaching him, she was about to try again before her instincts screamed to run again.

'Why...he isn't even--'

"I guess I'll need to ask you who sent you later"

Seeing the dust change direction quickly, she immediately escaped from the area

'W-What is happening!?'

Failing to exit the dust, she was hit by a powerful Magic.

'If she knew about my [Avian] she would never have tried to get so close to me, especially with this type of terrain where I can use dust to my advantage...she didn't know about my abilities? I thought she pretended not to know'

Asking this to himself, He saw as the dust that were all over his surroundings dispersed while Ganesha, that was commenting from the beginning, shouted

"Ohh! What happened!? Isn't that the Captain of Group A!? Incredible, she was defeated so quickly!"

Looking at her, every one was surprised, but few knew her real strength

"I saw her movements...she wasn't a level 3"

"Huh? But why, does that mean she had a fake ID? Is it even possible?"

Asking this question to themselves, some people stood aside to discuss about it while the Group A was speechless...
