Chapter 198 - Prayer

Looking better at his surroundings, Ethan found the door leading to the outside where Light was located, but he decided, since it was several weeks from his last talk with her, that he could afford to act recklessly.

Without minding her saying she would come to him, Ethan opened the window before he jumped from what was the second floor of the house.

He wouldn't normally do such a thing, but he was curious if his endurance alone without using [Boost Magic] would be enough to protect him completely.

Although he wanted an explanation for why the house seemed almost a fusion between two different cultures, Ethan knew it wasn't the time to talk about trivial stuff.

Now with Light sitting as well, he wanted to immediately notify her of the most pressing matter in his mind, but he was surprised by the sudden appearance of warm cups filled with tea.

"...You bought tea for us?"

His words led her face to be once again red.

"Y-Yes, what about that?"

He could feel the kindness radiating from every single word she spoke. It was true she was a bit scary since she had the power to do everything she wanted, but just thinking a kind goddess like her was misunderstood her whole life, living the eternity alone, was scary.

"I don't know why she chose to not clear the misunderstanding and lived her whole life alone, but I am merely a human considering her my benefactor for everything she did to me. She not only reincarnated me in the world I always wanted to live in, she gave me a companion to not be alone during this long journey, and she even protected me from death. I can never repay such kindness, so the only thing I can do is express my gratitude living this life to the fullest."

Closing his eyes while praying, Ethan hoped this would raise Light's morale, as from her words she seemed to recall even more than she said from her expression and since he could do nothing neither to the culprits neither to help Qienta, this was the only thing he could do as a human.
