1317 We Meet Again

Xia Yingluo was not sure if she could bear the pain.

There were many people in the bedroom. Xia Ling, Li Rui, Li Lei, Shaohui and Xia Moyan were all there. According to the agreement, Wei Lingnan was supposed to deliver the medicine today. Looking at the situation now, Yingluo might not last any longer if Wei Lingnan did not come.

"Is there any way to expedite it?" Li Lei asked Xia Moyan as he tried hard to contain his worry.

Xia Moyan's expression remained still. His voice was clear, but it had a tinge of worry. "The Wei Family underground base is already on high alert. Intelligence says that Wei Lingnan has locked himself in the lab and never came out. He is probably working on the antidote. There is no point in us hurrying him, it would only disturb his progress."

"What if he isn't working on the antidote at all?" Li Rui could not hold his frustration any longer. Looking at his sister suffer, his heart was being put through tons of pain as well. "What if he doesn't want to help Yingluo at all?"

"I don't think so. He is not powerful enough to oppose the Xia family openly. If anything happens to Yingluo, he understands the grave consequences better than anyone else." Xia Moyan analyzed calmly. The consequence was, of course, revenge from the Xia family. As long as Wei Lingnan was on this planet, he would not be able to handle the wrath he'd incur. Right as the words escaped his mouth, the air in front of him suddenly distorted, as if affected by an invisible magnetic field. The long image of a man appeared from thin air. It was Wei Lingnan.

His appearance shocked Li Rui. "You, you, you, you…!"

How did this man appear here? What kind of sorcery? Invisibility? Teleportation? Li Rui could feel his brain bursting with questions. The scene thwarted his understanding of the world. As for the others, they were not surprised as they already knew Wei Lingnan's background.

Li Lei was even able to react immediately and hurry Wei Lingnan. "Did you bring the antidote? Quick, give it to her."

Wei Lingnan ignored them and looked straight at Xia Yingluo. Only a few days passed, yet she looked like a withering flower. His heart ached. This was not right, how could his heart ache for someone other than Ah Luo?

Wei Lingnan retracted his hand that was going to examine her. Originally, he intended to feed her the antidote directly, but now, he passed it to Xia Ling. "Get her to drink it."

Xia Ling took the antidote. She did not know if it was real or fake and looked at her husband and brother helplessly.

They nodded at her. After gaining their approval, she opened the bottle and fed Xia Yingluo carefully.

Xia Yingluo was tossing and turning in bed with her eyes closed, frowning and whimpering. After she drank the antidote, she began to calm down, and her breathing started to stabilize as well.

The people in the room were all relieved after seeing this.

Wei Lingnan looked longingly at her. He did not realize that his eyes were screaming his unwillingness to leave, but he still turned away to go.

"Stop." Li Rui stopped him in his tracks. This happy-go-lucky Young Master had now recovered from his initial shock—at least from the outside it seemed so. He stared coldly at Wei Lingnan. "Who are you? Or better yet, what are you?" He could not allow anything to hurt his sister, no matter who or what it was.

Wei Lingnan did not want to fight with him. He shook him off easily and continued towards the door.

Li Rui broke out in cold sweat. He was a monster, how could he be so agile? He was trained since young. Few people could escape his grasp so easily. This monster's abilities were threatening.

"Stop now! You did all these to my sister, you think you can just walk away like this?" Despite the immense power he faced, Li Rui continued to engage him.

Wei Lingnan still did not answer him. He put his fingers on the doorknob and turned.

A voice could be heard behind him. "Why did you come?"

The voice was weak, but it caused his hands to tremble.

Xia Yingluo.

She came to her consciousness and looked at Wei Lingnan. Her eyes were filled with sadness, hatred and many other complex emotions.

Even though Wei Lingnan did not turn around, he could feel their burning stares. His back instantly stiffened.

"Next time, get your family to collect the antidote from my place. I won't be coming again," he said emotionlessly.

Before Xia Yingluo could say anything, Li Lei flared up. "It's just a trip, how much does it cost you?!" Without thinking, he raised his fist on him.

"Xiao Rui!" Li Lei stopped him with his hand.

Ignoring Li Rui's bloodthirsty eyes, he looked coldly at Wei Lingnan. "I'll get the antidote from you next time. But if you dare to ever come close to Yingluo again, I'll kill you without hesitation."

This time, Wei Lingnan really left.

"Dad! Why did you let him off so easily?! Look at how much hurt he caused to Sister!" Li Rui was anxious.

Li Lei did not answer him. Instead, he turned towards Xia Yingluo. Xia Yingluo's face was pale. Wei Lingnan's declaration that he "won't be coming again" was like a hammer striking her heart. She knew this would have happened… didn't she?

She laughed at herself. For someone that crushed her like an ant and did not even bother to save her, what else was she asking for?

"I'm tired, let me be alone," she said softly.

The family members looked at each other. They respected her wish and walked out.

Xia Yingluo turned her head towards the window.

She looked out the window in a daze, trying hard to not think of him. However, she noticed Wei Lingnan walking slowly past the small road.

He was walking very slowly, even stumbling at times. The snow fell onto his body from the trees; it was a gloomy sight.

Xia Yingluo thought she was overthinking, how could someone so cold and emotionless like him be sad? He must be delighted to shake her, the burden, off. Now, he could finally be together with Gu Jinxiu without a care for anything else.
