Chapter 36 - Registrar Evelyn

Uncle Herbert and I went to the private rooms on the third floor.

“Young Master Will, that person just now is Brook, the eldest son of Archduke Macaulay of the Kingdom of Sivir. Although he’s not the head of the family yet, the Archduke Macaulay is bedridden all year round. The territory and family matters are basically handled by this eldest son, so he was awarded the title of Earl at a young age. Moreover, he’s inextricably linked to the royal family of Sivir. It’s said that he has royal blood.”

“So he has such an identity.”

“That’s right. The Archduke’s territory borders that of our country’s Marquis Ferrande. The two often trade with each other. If Marquis Ferrande learns that his good-for-nothing second son has offended the future Archduke because of this small matter, I’m afraid he won’t be able to sleep tonight.”

Uncle Herbert laughed with some schadenfreude.

I sat in my seat and pondered. I could tell that Earl Brook had a noble status, but I didn’t expect a royal of the Kingdom of Sivir to leave a message that said, “We will meet again.” Does he want me to open such an inn in the Kingdom of Sivir?

After some pointless delusions, I gave up.

This was because I remembered that I had more important things to do. I had to build a rifle for the President. I also had to visit my grandfather and put this inn under the name of the Laurence family.

Due to the existence of Olgus Academy, there were many nobles who were not inferior to the Ferrande Family in Heikem.

It had been less than a month since Riston Inn was renovated and opened for business, and its fame had not been completely spread yet. When it becomes completely well-known in the future, arrogant second-generation heirs like the second son of the Ferrande Family would definitely flock to it. My grandfather’s identity as the Dean of Olgus Academy could effectively intimidate these b*stards.

“Young Master, you waived the payment for everyone on the second floor just now. Isn’t that a little extravagant? Our hotel’s ingredients are all carefully selected. That’s not a small sum.”

Uncle Herbert saw that I was silent for a long time and asked softly.

“No, Uncle Herbert, such expenditure is worth it because our main customers in the future are them and the people around them. If we leave a good impression on them now, it will be a free promotion.”

I waved my hand and smiled at Uncle Herbert.

Unlike a commoner inn, which could allow anyone to dine in, the Riston Inn’s threshold of five gold coins determined that it would only receive nobles and rich people.

There were always fewer such people than commoners. Recurring customers, the nobles who had come and the people in their circles were all potential customers. Moreover, today’s incident was so exciting that it would probably spread quickly in the noble circle. The name Riston Inn would also be known by more people.

“Alright, since Young Master already has a plan, it’s not up to me to interfere. How’s your life in the academy? Are you happy there? Have you gotten a girlfriend?”

Uncle Herbert asked jokingly.

“Uncle Herbert, you can even get information about the Archduke. Aren’t you asking me the obvious?”

I looked at Uncle Herbert helplessly. There was no need to make fun of me like this.

“Young Master, you’re wrong. It’s much easier for us to investigate the neighboring countries and other places than the Olgus Academy.”

“What do you mean?”

I was a little curious. I didn’t even know that Olgus Academy Academy had such strong methods to maintain confidentiality.

“Outside the academy, we can use unscrupulous means to obtain information as long as we don’t let anyone guess our family background. In the academy, few of us can legally enter and because of Marquis Laurence, we can’t be unrestrained for fear of causing trouble for the Laurence family. If Young Master has the time, why don’t you tell me something that ordinary people don’t know in the academy? It might be useful to us.”

Uncle Herbert explained seriously.

Now that he put it this way, I understood. Although what the Reinhardt Family does is beneficial to the country, we cannot work openly. Things can only be done in secret.

As one of the three major academies in the kingdom, not only does one have to go through layers of screening to enter the Olgus Academy, my maternal grandfather, their superior’s father-in-law was also the Dean. If anything really happened, it would inevitably implicate the Lawrence family, which made them very cautious.

“Something that ordinary people don’t know about? I haven’t found anything for the time being. But, Uncle Herbert, do you know where there are weapons shops in the city? I need to find more than five. It’s best if they have fire-attribute Mages.”

I thought about it for a while. In the month I was in school, I really hadn’t heard any secrets that ordinary people didn’t know.

However, the matter of forging a weapon for the President was imminent.

“Weapon shops? There are too many. There are adventurers heading to the Northern Territory to train every day. Weapon shops are a popular industry. I’ll write down the locations for you now.”

Uncle Herbert casually picked up the pen and paper on the table and started writing. It didn’t take long for him to write down the names of nearly ten weapons shops.

“Thank you, Uncle Herbert.”

“You’re welcome. Young Master, it’s rare for you to come back. Have a good rest. I’ll go out and see if there’s anything they need my help with.”

“Okay, go ahead.”

The next day.

After resting in the inn for the entire night, I walked down the street and went to the weapon shops that Uncle Herbert had written down for me. I left two to three blueprints with each shop. After agreeing on the time to collect the products, I immediately rushed to the next shop.

When I arrived at the last shop in the east of the city, I saw a familiar figure at the entrance before I even entered.

Secretary Evelyn, whom I met once in the Student Council Room, was chatting with the boss in the shop.

“Registrar Evelyn, what a coincidence. Are you here to buy weapons too?”

I took the initiative to greet her.

This is someone I may have to deal with for the next few years, and I’m happy to get to know her.

“So it’s Will. Hello.”

Evelyn turned back and greeted me with a smile.

“Yo! Young man, so you and Evelyn are classmates. Haha, if you need any weapons, just tell me. I can prepare them for you and give you a 40% discount.”

The weapon shop owner saw me talking to Evelyn and immediately greeted me warmly.

“Thank you for your kindness, Boss, but I’m not here to buy weapons today. I need you to forge two things for me. These are the blueprints. Please take a look.”

I took out the blueprints for the last three parts and handed them to the boss.

“Hmm~ The measurements, sizes, and strength are all marked in detail. It seems that this young man is also an expert at drawing blueprints. With these, there won’t be a problem.”

The boss casually glanced at the first blueprint and praised it with a smile before continuing to flip to the others.

When he saw the third blueprint, he frowned visibly.

“What are you planning to do with a copper shell that has such a small diameter…”

“Boss, I heard that you have the best fire-attribute Mage blacksmith in the city. Although the diameter of this copper shell is a little small, it’s not difficult for a Mage. Seeing that you’re in such a difficult position, could it be that the Mage is no longer around?”

I looked at the shop owner and my heart skipped a beat.

It would take a long time to polish the entire copper piece into a bullet shell by hand, and it was very likely to fail.

“Look at what you’re saying, of course not.”

The boss put down the drawings and looked over, but not at me. He was looking at Evelyn, who was standing beside me.

“Evelyn, I’m sorry to have to trouble you again.”

“It’s okay, Uncle Yager.”

Evelyn raised her head and smiled. Then, she looked at me. “Will, come with me. You can tell me directly how you want it to be.”

“Um… okay.”
