10 Chapter 10: The Conversation

@@

Somewhere, in the cosmos.

Or another dimension entirely, there was a woman in a white room.

She was sitting on a chair, looking straight at the wall in front of her.

The knife appeared in front of her.

"How's Fred doing?" She asked.

"He's doing well. He's a good kid. Still immature and full of himself, though."

"I don't agree. He could've changed fate to get a cushy office job. I mean, the deli sells lotteries, and he could've bought the million dollar ticket. Mega millions, even."

"He knows that. He thinks he's too good for the power. I don't think it's self-restraint or something noble like that."

"He could've gotten laid, at least." She chuckled.

"He's an odd one, for sure. He had been through a lot, very early in life, too."

"Well, it's for the best. I know I'm bitching about how boring he's been, but I'm glad he's grounded. Down to Earth." She sighed.

The knife glistened. "He'll be making waves soon enough."

The woman nodded. She closed her eyes.

The knife was gone from the white room. Leaving the woman, alone.
