The evening weather was pleasant, and the nightclub opened up the glass doors that lead to the courtyard, expanding its indoor space with the outdoor one.
Inside were booths and a long bar with three bartenders who were mixing drinks for customers non-stop. DJ booth was in the corner and the middle of the area was reserved for dancing.
With the glass door open, the dance area spilled to the courtyard, and it met with a fountain that separated the dance area from another bar that had two bartenders.
The blaring music was much louder inside than outside, but even the people who were in the courtyard had to shout if they wanted to talk.
It was a Friday evening, and the place was packed.
Liz booked a booth for the girls and it waited for them. They ordered a round of drinks immediately.
Angela looked at the cocktail in front of her apprehensively and Liz noticed.
"Drink up, Angie. This one is sweet, and it has low alcohol content. We are starting our evening with this and working our way up. Our mission for tonight is to have ten cocktails which were voted as the most popular ones in Seattle!"
Angela was not sure what to think about this. She was buzzed already, and Liz called it 'starting'? At this rate, she won't last long.
"How are we going to reach our hotel suite?"
Liz smiled and pointed outside at the tall building that touched the South edge of the courtyard. "That is our hotel. If we get totally wasted, we can crawl there."
Liz laughed at Angela's shocked expression.
"Don't worry, Angie, we have bodyguards around. If we pass out, they will carry us. They have their orders to let us party, but if someone acts improperly toward us, they will intervene." Liz saw that Angela is looking around and she guessed her thoughts. "They are undercover, and they will not show themselves unless there is a need for it. We can relax and enjoy the evening." Liz had confidence in Max's men, and she knew that Fabricio sent a few also.
At the indoor bar, Suzy was sitting and sipping her drink while her eyes didn't leave Mia and six other girls who raised their glasses in a toast. Suzy smirked while thinking about how she will get her vengeance today. Her cheek still throbbed at the memory of Mia's slap, and the humiliation of lying on the floor helplessly never went away. She will embarrass Mia, discredit her, label her as a loose woman and make Hunter a free man. And it will all happen tonight!
Suzy reached for her phone when she saw it light up with the corner of her eye. It was a message from 'Hannah' (aka Irene).
Hannah: "How are things on your side?"
Suzy: "Everything is going according to plan."
Suzy sent a message, and she raised her phone to snap a photo of the group where Mia was when a big hand landed over her phone.
"No photos.", a bulky man said sternly, making Suzy smile sheepishly.
"I was not taking a photo, I was just…"
"No photos.", he repeated, and his glare told Suzy that he was not interested in explanations.
"Sure, no problem. I… I'm sorry.", Suzy stuttered, and she exhaled in relief when the man let go of her phone and took a step away.
She wondered, from where did he come? And since when this club has a policy of no photos? She was not aware that she just had a close encounter with one of Max's men.
Suzy typed a message for Irene: "How are things on your end?"
Hannah: "I'm in."
Suzy smiled and kept her phone back in her purse.
They agreed that Suzy will take care of the girls here, while Irene sabotages the guys. Actually, Suzy didn't want to sabotage Hunter, knowing that he will probably not drink or do anything obscene. Suzy's target was Mia, and the fact that Irene was willing to go to the Dark Knight club in order to get her hands on Max, assured Suzy that Hunter will be there as well, and he will not suspect Suzy of having a part in any of this. The more mess Irene causes there, the more Hunter will be preoccupied, and he won't have time to worry about Mia. By the time he checks on her, it will be too late, and no amount of bodyguards will prevent what is about to happen.
Suzy hired men in advance, through a third party so that her name is not mentioned anywhere. Men will approach Mia and her group like guests of this club, and they will dance and mingle. That is not unusual for this setting. To make things more believable, Suzy instructed that guys who were hired are not working together, but independently, and they won't be aware that others have the same goal. They received photos of Mia, Liz, Bri, Olivia, and Grace and if they successfully seduce them, they will get a bonus. In this way, it will appear that several guys got interested in the same girl. It happens. To ensure success, each of those men has various stimulants that can make Mia and her friends loosen up, and then Hunter will get photo-evidence of how his fiancée is promiscuous, and he will break up with her. It's perfect!
For Irene's cooperation, Suzy agreed to get compromising photos of Liz as well. Actually, there will be more than a dozen men, targeting women in that group. In that way, it will appear more random and they will not suspect that someone targeted Mia in particular (and Liz).
As for Suzy's involvement, at most, Hunter will know that Suzy was present in this club where Mia's bachelorette's party was held, just like more than a hundred other people.
For Suzy, Irene is not important. She is just another delusional girl who is after Max and if Irene gets caught, that will be her problem. Suzy is not concerned that Irene will sell her out (in case she gets caught), because Suzy can tell Andersons that Irene is following Liz around for some time. If Irene talks, Suzy will ensure to pull her down to Hell with her and Irene knows that.
Now the only thing they needed was to wait for the evening to trickle away and to allow everyone to drink some more and get into the party mood and then… Suzy looks forward to what will happen next because she can't wait to see Hunter return to status 'single'.
Suzy perked up when she saw that Mia and the other six ladies got up and headed to the dancefloor and some of them wobbled a bit. Things are going just as expected.
…
At the outdoor bar…
Derek was sitting on a barstool and he was sipping his beer while his eyes didn't leave Angela. With all the crowd present, he could watch her without being noticed in return. And she was beautiful.
Earlier that day, Mia texted Derek information containing the time and place where Angela will be so that he can come and fix things.
Derek wanted to go on the other side of that fountain and talk to Angela, but he was not sure what to say. What if he makes things worse? He was never good at talking, and most of the time he would mess up things.
…
On the dancefloor…
The girls were wiggling their arms and swaying their bodies at the beat of the music, together with the rest of the crowd.
"I like to see you dance like this, freely…", Andrea said to Liz.
Liz didn't get the point. "How do I usually dance?"
"Usually you stick to Max."
"We are dating.", Liz stated the fact. Liz was missing Max, and now that Andrea mentioned him, she missed him more.
"Dating or not dating, he is restricting you."
Liz rolled her eyes. "Andrea, stop teasing me. You know that I love Max."
"I know that you love him and that you are faithful, and that only makes you more outstanding. I would never make a move with the intention to be a mistress, but I want you to know that I would not restrict you and I would take care of you."
Liz opened and closed her mouth, unsure how to respond. Andrea is a kind woman, and a great friend, but once in a while she makes these ambiguous statements that make Liz's mind spin. And Liz does not want to think much about this because it is NOT happening.
Liz's eyes moved to Angela who was swaying toward her.
"Wow… Are you OK?", Liz asked when she grabbed Angela's shoulders to keep her steady.
Angela blinked a few times forcibly. "No… everything is spinning.", Angela said.
"Do you want to go to the restroom?", Liz offered to what Angela nodded.
Liz helped Angela go to the restroom and wash her face without ruining her makeup.
"Are you OK to go back? Or do you want me to take you to the suite?", Liz asked when she saw that Angela leaned on the wall and closed her eyes.
"I can sit on the edge of the fountain. I don't want to break everyone's party mood."
"Sure. If you feel that you can't take it, I can help you go up. There is no need to hold back."
"This was my first time drinking wine and cocktails…", Angela admitted. She had some beer earlier, but only a few sips. "I would like to take a breather and then re-join the party."
Liz helped Angela sit on the edge of the fountain and Angela waved at Liz to go back to the dancefloor.
"I am right here. Fresh air is helping. I will join you in a minute when my head clears up."
As soon as Liz stepped away from Angela, two young men sat next to Angela, one on each side. Liz saw them, but they were only talking so she continued going to the dancefloor while keeping her eye on Angela. Actually, Liz knew that those two can't do much. Not with all the security around.
