Under the rays of sunset, Liz admired Max in the black suit that fit him perfectly and she knew that the dark blue gown he prepared for her, accentuated her hourglass figure.
The gown was sleeveless, revealing just the tip of her cleavage, fitting snugly over her chest and down to her waist, and then falling loosely to her ankles. The thin silky layers of the skirt overlapped, concealing that there is a high slit on her left thigh which allowed her to move freely. The gown was elegant, yet light and comfortable, and Liz loved it.
Max removed his gaze from the view below and looked at Liz with a smile on his face. He was elated that her eyes full of love were directed at him, and her expression was relaxed. It told him that she trusts him and that she was enjoying the moment, with him.
Max took Liz's hand in his and kissed the back of her palm. "Shall we?"
Liz understood that he asked if they can move from the current location to wherever he planned next. She nodded and followed his lead.
The villa had a lot of glass surfaces with massive windows on all sides which maximized the amount of natural light which illuminated the interior while providing gorgeous views.
The villa didn't look large from the outside, but the inside was spacious, modern, and exquisite. The massive entrance hall was open and adorned by a big crystal chandelier from above. The sunset rays hit the numerous crystal pieces of the chandelier which shattered the light into rainbows, turning the space magical.
They moved to the left and Liz observed that it was a living room with a sitting area facing the West wall which was mostly made out of glass, providing an unobstructed view to the Las Vegas below, and of course, the sunset.
Liz smiled when she saw a table set for two, waiting for them, right next to the floor-to-ceiling window. Red roses and candles completed the romantic setting.
"Thank you for arranging this.", Liz said when Max pulled a chair for her to sit.
"Anything for you, my love…", Max murmured and placed a light kiss on her exposed shoulder.
The food was tasty, and the staff silently showed up from nowhere to swap the plates with the next dish.
Max and Liz chatted over their meal with a glorious view and soft music that filled the space, and the world seemed at peace.
They spoke about their relationship, how they met on a rainy day, and then the next time when Hunter set up a surprise lunch, inviting Sabrina with a goal to expose Max but that backfired.
"During that lunch, I realized that you are more than just a pretty face.", Liz admitted.
"Hunter told me that we looked like a couple without trying.", Max remembered.
"When we told the story about how we met, and you reached for my face, I thought that you wanted to kiss me.", Liz said shyly. She never told him this before.
Max smiled. "You were not wrong."
Liz's eyes widened. "Really? I mean... I thought that I was crazy and imagined it."
Max exhaled. "I was the crazy one for not kissing you then."
Liz laughed. Would she allow him to kiss her? Maybe because she would be too shocked to do anything, but after she recuperates, he would get a slap probably. She didn't want to tell him that.
Liz mentioned how she loved when he took her to his boat or his 'thinking spot' how he calls it, and he spoke about the weekend in Hawaii and how he struggled to stay in control, the lunch at top of his grandmother's house, the Fourth of July party at the Anderson family villa when he played the guitar for her, the fundraiser at the Franciscan Medical Center where he chased away lecherous donor and they spent the rest of the night on the sofa in the lounge, and then headed to the boat where they spent the night... they went through a lot together, and somehow they forgot all the bad things that happened, with their talk focusing on sweet lovey-dovey moments.
They also chatted about their friends and how it's wonderful that Mia and Hunter are married, and Brianna and Quentin as well... and how Sabrina and Ashton have a harmonious marriage, and how Olivia ended up with Mike, and Jake and Derek seem to be ready to settle as well.
"It seems that out of all the couples in our circle, the two of us met first, and we will be the last ones to marry...", Liz commented.
Max made a thoughtful face. "If we hurry, we can get married before Mike and Jake. I'm not sure about Derek because Ash was saying how Angie will take Derek to meet their family before they get married..."
The sun dipped lower and disappeared with a superb display of orange and red hues, allowing the nightlights of Las Vegas to become the main feature of the view.
Max waited for Liz to finish her roasted salmon before standing up and extending his hand toward Liz, palm up. "Can I have a dance, my lady?"
Liz hummed in approval and placed her hand into Max's. To her surprise, he led the way up the stairs, and they emerged onto an open terrace that was on the roof of the villa.
Liz remembered seeing the rooftop terrace from the helicopter, but at that time it seemed empty. Now, the terrace was surrounded by numerous red roses, and even the floor was littered with rose petals and candles that were lit up everywhere. It was very romantic.
It took Liz a few moments to realize that there was soft music coming from somewhere and it was perfect for dancing under the starry sky with Las Vegas nightlights below them. Really, Max thought of everything.
Liz slowly turned around to take in the view, and when she returned to her original spot, she found Max down on his knee, holding a small jewelry box in his hand and looking at her with deep blue eyes full of love and a hint of anxiousness.
Liz smiled. She knew what Max was doing, and she already said 'yes', but she also knew that he planned for this, so she didn't want to interrupt.
"Elizabeth Williams…", Max started with a voice full of emotions, and the fact that he used her full name meant that he was serious. "I remember the first day I've met you. I was an ass, yet you still came to check on me. At that time, I was confident that you knew who I was and that you were trying to seduce me, and I was surprised to see you leaving without telling me your name. I must admit that at first, my intentions were not pure as I wanted to conquer you, but before I realized what was happening, I was conquered in return and you became the life of my love. Your light showed me the way when I thought I had no path ahead of me and I followed my heart which led me to you. You make my life complete and you bring me happiness I never deserved but I am greedy, and I want more of that happiness and more of you and I promise to do my best to make you happy in return. Will you marry me?"
Liz's chin shivered a little. Not because of the words, but because of the way he looked at her, almost pleading her to accept.
"Maximilian Anderson…", Liz responded. "Before you entered my life, I didn't think that love is written in my future. I was focused on my work and my patients and I thought that is how it will be forever. You were persistent, funny, caring, reliable, and intense. You taught me how to have fun, made me feel safe, supported me, and you encouraged me to try new things while telling me that it's OK to be myself. I love you, Max, for everything that you are and because of who I am when we are together. Yes, I will marry you."
Max smiled while slipping a diamond ring on Liz's left ring finger. He stood up and wrapped his arms around Liz, pulling her into a tight hug, and then their lips connected in a slow sensual kiss.
Liz jumped in shock when a big boom sounded nearby, and she watched with her eyes open wide the magnificent firework display that lit up the sky. Max's smug smile told her that he was pleased with her reaction.
She melted onto Max while thinking how he is amazing. He arranged clothes and the helicopter ride and dinner and fireworks, and he made her feel really special, like a princess.
"Thank you, Max… I love it."
"The night is still young.", Max murmured close to her ear and started swaying at the sound of the music. "After dancing, the dessert will be served in the bedroom…"
Liz's eyes flashed with excitement. She didn't know if the dessert will be them making love, or a real sweet-treat, and she didn't care. However, she was confident that they will spend the night here.
She relaxed and danced while following Max's lead.
They gazed into each other's eyes with matching smiles on their faces. Max and Liz dancing under the starry sky, surrounded by roses and candles, with nightlights of Las Vegas below them… they were engaged, and it was perfect.
