Liz smiled at the sight of their friends coming up on the platform. It was a great circle of tight friends and she enjoyed it very much.
Seeing toddlers getting excited over the small animal which now ran for his life, Liz thought that maybe they should hide the pup. Luckily for the puppy, Quentin came to the rescue by holding it high so toddlers couldn't reach it. Toddlers were complaining but they stopped when Luke started telling them that they should be gentle toward animals. Really, he is like a young adult and Liz loved that Mila was listening to Luke intently.
"Did you find out the gender?", Mia's question made Liz turn to her.
"Mhm… it's a boy…", Liz responded with a smile.
"Oh, great! Ethan will have a play buddy!", Mia exclaimed.
"Ethan? I thought you will name him George."
Mia waved at Liz like that is not important. "George was last week. Now I like Ethan better."
Liz giggled and shook her head. Mia is silly and always changes the name of her baby-boy according to her mood.
"This arrived for you.", Max said and handed a fancy golden envelope to Liz.
Liz understood that it might be something important, so she opened it. "Oh…"
"What is it?", Mia asked while craning her neck to see.
Max sat next to Liz and put a piece of pineapple in his mouth. Since their vacation to Hawaii, four years ago, pineapples are Max's favorite fruit. Liz didn't miss his mischievous smile directed her way. Ah, when Emilia sleeps off, Max and Liz will have fun.
"It's a wedding invitation. Dr. Snow is getting married.", Liz said and put the invitation back in the envelope before handing it back to Max.
Mia's face darkened. "He is inviting you to his wedding after what he had done? Who is the unlucky lady? Did he stalk this one also? We should send her a warning that she might end up drugged and kidnapped if Dr. Snow meets a woman like Irene."
Liz patted Mia's hand, indicating to her to calm down.
During her pregnancy with Emilia, Liz's nightmares stopped completely and the reality of becoming a mother changed Liz's perspective on life.
Liz didn't want to talk about Irene and Dr. Snow. Those two caused too much trouble for Max and Liz, but comparing them would be unfair. Max was the one who decided on Irene's punishment and Liz gave Dr. Snow another chance. Liz didn't regret it. After the kidnapping incident, Dr. Snow gave up his career as a flashy orthopedic surgeon and since then his skills saved many lives. In a way, he is atoning for what he did, and Liz is pleased that he found his purpose.
"Dr. Snow is writing me an email every week even though I'm not responding. He met this woman during his work in Africa. She is a nurse, and they are settling in Australia. I believe that he found his happiness."
"You sound like you have forgiven him…", Brianna said. She arrived on time to hear that Dr. Snow sent a wedding invitation to Liz and everything after that.
"Forgiving and forgetting are two different things, Bri. Hating him was only hurting me, and I let go of that burden a long time ago. I have no feelings for him, good or bad.", Liz responded to Brianna. "I have my life, my family, and my friends, and there is no space for negativity."
Max wrapped his arms around Liz. "I am proud of you, my love."
Mia and Brianna rolled their eyes and shook their heads. They never got used to the public display of affection between Max and Liz which often happens during a serious conversation. Like right now.
The truth is that Max wanted to punish Dr. Snow, at least a little bit, but Liz asked Max to let it go. Liz told Max that everyone deserves a chance to fix their wrongs. Irene passed on many chances she had, showing them that she was getting more malicious every time she returned into their lives, while Dr. Snow took his opportunity to make the world a better place for many of his patients. Liz didn't care if Dr. Snow did that to make himself better or because he really cared about all those people. As long as he was out of their lives, she was happy because she didn't have the capacity to worry about others.
Liz leaned into Max's embrace and smiled. She was proud of him as well. Before they met, Max had a horrible reputation as a fickle playboy, but since then he changed drastically. Max is now a successful businessman, a doting husband, a wonderful father... and when Emilia is sleeping or out of the house, Max turns into a fiery lover.
Max made sure that every first weekend in the month he and Liz take time off from everything and focus on each other. Madeline and Nathan are happy to have their granddaughter for that weekend so that Max and Liz can enjoy their privacy.
Liz is on cloud nine and she couldn't be happier.
"Huggy!", Mila screamed while abandoning alphabet blocks and Luke, and she dashed toward her parents. Whenever Mila saw Max and Liz hugging, she had to squeeze in-between.
Max reacted quickly and caught Mila before she reached them. "Don't run at your mommy. There is a baby inside her belly, and you need to be careful…"
Mila blinked as her little legs still flailed in the air. "Baby boy."
Max nodded in approval and explained: "That is your brother, and we all need to take care of him until he is big enough to take care of himself."
"And me…", Mila added.
Max chuckled. "And you."
He put Mila to sit in his lap and he and Liz wrapped their arms around each other with Mila in the middle.
The three of them smiled and enjoyed the moment.
"I came to play with you, and you made a mess. Who will clean this?", Luke said sternly from the side while pouting at Mila.
"Coming!", Mila shouted and leaped from Max's lap to go and play with Luke.
Liz and Max exchanged glances and looked after Mila who does not listen to anyone other than Luke. Will their Emilia and Luke be a couple when they grow up? That is a possibility. They mentioned this to Quentin and Brianna and the latter couple had no objections.
Max pulled Liz closer and she leaned her head on his shoulder. They enjoyed the moment in the oasis above it all with their friends and family under the majestic cherry tree that was in full bloom.
