Olivia reached the 31st floor and stepped into the hallway.

Her steps slowed down as she approached Hunter who is leaning on the wall next to Liz's apartment door. He is checking his phone.

She observed Hunter's handsome features and was becoming a fangirl with every step that brought her closer to him.

Olivia was about five steps away when Hunter lifted his gaze and his dazzling smile greeted her.

Her legs stopped moving and she was sure that her heart will jump out of her chest. Her body was nonresponsive, but her mind raced: 'Yesterday Max Anderson, and today this hunk. This job is getting better daily! I should move into this building!'

Hunter can see that Olivia is dazed. Ah, it's exactly what Max told him about Liz's housekeeper: short, white hair, easily dazed.

He is happy that Olivia came at the same time as yesterday, he is waiting only about ten minutes.

Why is Hunter here? Well, he called Liz numerous times yesterday, but she didn't pick up any of his calls. He can understand that she is upset, but he called to apologize, damnit! Why is she so stubborn?

After lunch previous day, Max scolded Hunter about involving Liz into his pranks, and since then a guilty conscience is eating him up. Liz was nice to him and he was the bad guy… So, he wants to apologize. But she didn't pick up his calls, so he called Max to get some additional information about Liz. Max must know something, Hunter saw two of them walk to the parking lot after lunch.

Hunter laughed when Max told him that Liz didn't want to give him her number. That must be a first time for Max to fail so miserably… not even a number! Max also told him that on Saturday her housekeeper arrived at 9 AM, a short girl with a white hair. The one witch is right now staring at him without blinking.

"Can I help you?", Olivia asked when she got control over her voice.

Hunter shrugged. "Maybe. Do you know if Liz is home? I wanted to call her, but my phone is not connecting, and I'm reluctant to ring the doorbell in case she is sleeping."

Olivia tilted her head while thinking that his story is a bit… strange. "Do you know Liz?"

"Yes, yes. Yesterday we had lunch together."

Olivia narrowed her eyes. "Liz had lunch yesterday with her neighbor. That is not you."

Yesterday morning Liz told Olivia that she will have a lunch with her neighbor, Mr. Anderson. Of course, Liz was talking about Hunter, because at that time she thought how he is her neighbor, while Olivia was thinking about Max (they met in the elevator). And the man in front of her is not Max.

Hunter understood that Olivia knows who the real neighbor is. "Max is my brother. We all had lunch together. I'm Hunter."

Olivia's mind exploded: 'Oh. My. God! This is Hunter Anderson!'

The rumor is that Hunter is more handsome than Max, but Hunter keeps a low profile… and that mystery around him is increasing his appeal several folds. Now that she looks at him, he resembles Max quite a bit: light brown hair, blue eyes, the nose is the same, about the same height…

She wants to look at him more, but hearts in her eyes are making everything look pink and fuzzy… and it seems that birds are chirping like it's springtime.

Olivia cleared her throat few times while trying to compose herself. She would give herself a slap or two, but Hunter is right there watching, and she does not want to do that in front of him.

"Let me see if she is in." Olivia punched her code swiftly and opened the door.

She got in and closed the door behind her. Dazed or not, she will not allow a guy into Liz's place without an explicit permission.

A minute later the door opened.

"What do you want?", Liz asked Hunter impatiently.

Liz is not thrilled to talk to him, but Olivia said that he is in front of her door, and it looks like he is there for a while. Considering the number of missed calls, Liz decided to confront him and tell him to go away.

Each of the brothers is troublesome, and she came to Seattle to work and prove herself. Not to play games with two immature grownup men, no matter how handsome they are.

Hunter ignored Liz's apparent irritation. He smiled. "I want to apologize for yesterday."

"OK. You apologized. Can you leave now?"

He sighed. "Why are you making this difficult? I called you dozens of times, but you are not picking up. Can you just forgive me?"

"Why do you care if I forgive you or not? We met twice."

"We shared two meals." Hunter thought that this is important.

"And during the first one you schemed how to use me during the second one."

Somehow, he knew that she will turn it around into an attack.

"Double standards. How can you be OK with Max using you while treating me like I did an unforgivable offense?"

Liz frowned. Why is he bringing up Max, like he is a standard for a good behavior? "If you must know, when he said to your family that I'm his girlfriend… that does not count, because I used him as my boyfriend before that. And yesterday, he asked for my permission. So, stop comparing yourself to Max."

Hunter's eyebrows shoot up. He just found out something surprising: "You used him as a boyfriend?"

"Yes, I needed a ride and I was in a hurry, so I had to improvise...", Liz paused. "We are talking about your behavior, not mine."

"I see that you have no problem using others, but when someone uses you it's an unforgivable offense.", Hunter said matter-of-factly.

Liz rolled her eyes. Hunter just switched Max's example for hers, but he is still talking about double standards. However, there is one more difference… "I did it in a spur of the moment. Yours was premeditated."

Hunter sighed. He can see that Liz's temper is rising. He needs to defuse the situation. "OK. What should I do so that you forgive me?"

Liz was exasperated. "Seriously… Why do you care? Just give up. Move on. I'm sure there are many others who are willing to talk to you, and let you use them for your next game."

At this point, even Hunter was not sure why he cares so much. If he does not show up here, they will probably not meet again. But he is not willing to give up. "What if I believe in karma? I can't sleep knowing that you have a grudge against me."

"Then, sleep peacefully, because I don't have a grudge against you. I'm too busy to hold grudges and I have better things to do. But I don't want to be around you either."

Hunter placed a hand on his chest dramatically. "You don't want to be around me?"

Hunter's tenacity while giving variety of ridiculous reasons reminded her how yesterday Max asked for her number. "What is wrong with you two brothers? Why are you so persistent? Did all other humans on the planet perish and I'm the only one you can pester? Or do I have some hidden mark that attracts people like you?"

"Believe it or not, I like to be on friendly terms with all people I know. That is why your rejection stands out for me, and I'm trying to fix it. As for Max… he has his own issues. Maybe he will tell you about it one day. But I know that you are the first girl with whom he is persistent."

Hearing another reason, Liz understood that Hunter will not give up. Well, she gives up. It's not worth of her time. "Fine, fine. We are friendly. OK?"

"Prove it.", he demanded. He can tell that she just wants to brush him off.

Liz grimaced for a second and then got an idea… "Call me."

Hunter frowned while thinking, what is she up to? He got his phone and made a call.

She answered with an exaggerated sweet voice: "Hi Hunter, what's up?"

He laughed and spoke on the phone: "Hi Liz. I was wondering if we can go somewhere today… The Pacific Science Center has a new exhibition on advances in medicine. I hear they have a good section on surgery."

"Thank you for thinking of me. But unfortunately, my schedule is full because it's my last day as an unemployed individual. How about next time? …"
