305 Isaac's birthday weekend 3

Saturday

4:34 PM

Several dozens of cars are lined up on the driveway, slowly approaching the mansion.

When they reach the main entrance, guests are stepping out of their car and giving the keys to one of the valets present before they make their way inside.

The event hosted by Isaac Williams is scheduled to start at 5 PM, with the door being opened to accept guests from 4:30 PM. No one wants to be late.

Isaac is a private man, mostly focused on his work and for many of the guests, this is the first time to enter the Williams property, and they are amazed. The whole property from the driveway entrance to the building is meticulously maintained, luxurious and elegant, and guests are brimming from curiosity to see what waits for them inside.

Oblivious to the commotion outside, Max and Liz are in Liz's room, preparing for the party.

Liz twirled in her gown before asking Max: "What do you think?"

Max eyed Liz top to bottom and he has to acknowledge that the lilac cap-sleeved gown with a heart neckline fits her perfectly.

"I think that you should stay inside this room, so that no one other than me can see you." Max said with a straight face.

Liz giggled and looked at the mermaid skirt which is hugging her thighs tightly before spreading and reaching below her ankles. "I'm not sure if I can dance in this, and I love dancing with you."

Max pulled Liz toward him and made her twirl before bending her backward and arching his body above hers.

Max smiled when he noticed Liz's expression which told him that she didn't expect his smooth move.

"This will do just fine." Max murmured before giving her a light kiss.

Liz held onto his shoulders lightly because she knows that he will not let go. Max's hold on her is always firm and gentle and he never lets go. Max is the only one who managed to earn that level of trust from Liz.

Liz looked at Max dreamily and reminded him when he inched closer for another kiss: "You will spoil my makeup."

He ignored her warning and kissed her again. "You can fix it."

After several kisses, Liz went back to the bathroom to check on her makeup.

When she got out, Liz halted at the sight of Max as he straightened the lapels of his midnight-blue tuxedo which fits him perfectly.

"I think that you should not leave this room. I'm afraid that all the women at the party will want my boyfriend."

Max chuckled and winked playfully. "But only one woman can have this hunk."

Liz bobbed her head happily and reached to help him with his bowtie.

"You are very handsome…" Liz murmured.

Max was in a good mood. Everything is going great in his life, and he hopes that nothing comes to spoil it. Well, even if something comes, he will swat it away. He is good at it.

Liz paused. "Honestly, I'm not sure. My dad never celebrates his birthdays with a big party. Usually, it would be the two of us. I assume he organized this event because you and I are visiting, and he is using his birthday as an excuse."

"He is throwing a party because we are visiting?"

Liz cleared her throat and avoided Max's gaze. "Uhm… I think that he wants to show off… my boyfriend."

Max was not sure how to respond to this. But… doesn't this mean that Isaac sees him as someone permanent in Liz's life? Like a son-in-law material? Max was delighted and partially frightened by this realization.

When he took Liz to his home, it was just his family. And Isaac is throwing a party. Should he ask Madeline to throw a party for Liz? But everyone in Max's circle who matters knows about Elizabeth. Ah, he messed up big time…

"We don't need to go if you don't want to. Or we can go for a few minutes and leave…" Liz started talking quickly. She saw that Max's brows furrowed and she assumed how that was in disapproval of Isaac throwing the party with a goal to introduce Max to people. "We can always go to my apartment…"

"No, no… it's fine." Max interrupted Liz. "Honestly, I am honored if this is because of me. I assume that people from the hospital will be there."

Liz confirmed. "There is also a number of people in my dad's circle who are not part of the medicinal field. He showed me the guest list and there is a variety of people. The invitation specifies that everyone can bring their family and dates, so there is a chance we are looking at more than a hundred people. Possibly two hundred. You were in New York before, there is a chance that you know some of them."

"I was in New York a few times for business. So… maybe…" Max didn't want to mention that several times he came to party… the kind of parties he attended before he met Liz. Max hopes that Isaac's friends didn't bring their children, especially daughters. That might be a problem. Max hoped that he is overthinking things. After all, New York is a huge place.

Downstairs, guests were arriving, and Isaac welcomed them.

Isaac was happily shaking hands with people at the main entrance and gesturing to them to proceed down the hallway toward the main event hall.

There was plenty of food and beverages, and the program for the evening included a fancy dinner and a live band.

Isaac was pleased to see that the most prominent people arrived, and he is excited to introduce them to Max. He hopes that Max will see that Isaac (and Liz) are not restricted to the medical field and with all these new connections, maybe the Alpha Group opens their branch in New York, or at least create some solid partnerships. That would increase the probability of Max (and Liz) coming to New York on a regular basis.

Of course, Isaac does not know what the future brings, but he is aware that Max and Liz are in love and committed to each other and he wants to create various opportunities for them because Isaac believes that Max is an amazing young man. Also, Isaac fears that Liz will decide to stay in Seattle permanently. Liz's career in Seattle is blossoming and her friends and Max are there, why would she return to New York? And if that happens, when will Isaac see her? He is already sick from missing her, and if she announces that she will stay there… he will be devastated.

Ronald Sandall arrived with his son Patrick.

"The two of you came without dates?" Isaac asked while shaking hands. Most of Isaac's guests are males, but they all came with a wife, girlfriend, or daughter. Some of the guests brought several people with them, but nearly all of them came with a date.

"Dates?" Ronald was surprised. Other than in the work setting and occasional lunch, he didn't interact with Isaac. Ronald has a few ladies in his address book, but he didn't think about bringing any of them as a date. Now that Isaac mentioned it, he realized that a date would be good. But… what about Patrick? How would Patrick leave a good impression on Elizabeth if he came with some other woman?

"We don't need dates. I look forward to spending some time with Elizabeth." Patrick responded to Isaac's question because his father was non-responsive. At the same time, Patrick wanted to make it clear that he will be looking for Liz.

"You can say hi, but I'm not sure about spending time with her. She has a date for tonight. Her boyfriend." Isaac said.

Patrick didn't think much of it. His father told him that Liz has a boyfriend, but it's something recent. And people breakup anytime.

"Liz having a date is fine. Will he prevent her from talking and dancing with other guests?" Patrick asked and tugged his father inside. "Let's go, we are blocking the entrance…"

Isaac was not comfortable with Patrick's statement about Liz talking and dancing with others. It's not what he said, but how he said it, like Max's presence is not important.

Isaac didn't have much time to think about Patrick's attitude, more guests were waiting to shake hands with their host.

Ronald and Patrick entered the event hall.

"Wow… this is massive…" Patrick said with admiration while his eyes didn't leave crystal chandeliers which sparkled from the ceiling. The mansion looks impressive from the outside, but the inside is absolutely dazzling.

Ronald leaned closer and spoke only for Patrick to hear: "Play your cards right, and all this could be yours. Isaac has no one other than Elizabeth."

Patrick frowned. "I know, I know… you don't need to remind me."

Patrick is attracted to all these riches, who wouldn't be? But the truth is that Patrick has a crush on Liz for a long time, however, she was never interested. Whenever he approached her, she would talk about medicine and surgeries, and Patrick is not into that, so he was unable to hold a conversation.

Patrick has his e-commerce company that produces physical and digital marketing products for medium and small size businesses. His company is not super-famous, but they are growing, and Patrick is doing well for himself. He has a house, two cars, and a speedboat in the marina, however, it's nothing like this. The Williams villa is massive and stunning and screams money. If he says that he is not interested in being the master of this place, Patrick would be lying.
