392 Weekend in Sin City 8

All six of them went to Quentin's and Brianna's suite.

They could go to any other, but Max, Liz, Hunter, and Mia were aware that Quentin and Brianna are avoiding each other and if they went to another suite, that would give them an opportunity to stay apart, and like this, they are all forced to be together.

All four of them wanted Quentin and Brianna to smoothen things out, but none of them knew what the right approach is. They need to talk it out, but both Brianna and Quentin were sulking, and they didn't even look at each other.

Mia was in charge of organizing icepacks and Liz was cleaning and bandaging the wounds.

Unless they asked Bri for something, she sat on the chair silently and stared through the window.

Quentin didn't move as Liz cleaned his visible wounds and he refused to remove his shirt so that Liz can see if there is any injury under it.

Luckily, nothing required stitches.

Once they established that injuries don't require hospitalization, Liz demanded to know what happened.

Max and Hunter took turns in telling that they saw Quentin walk after that guy, and they were contemplating if they should follow or not, but then they saw four more guys go after them, so Max and Hunter decided to join.

It seemed that those five know the area because they went straight for the alley which is blocked halfway by dumpsters and some other things that look like discarded appliances. If Max and Hunter didn't show up, Quentin would find himself in big trouble with one guy in front and four others coming from the back and blocking his exit path.

Quentin didn't say anything, but he nodded in agreement with Max's and Hunter's words and his expression showed that he was grateful for their timely assistance.

Mia was sorry that she didn't join in the commotion. It's a long time since she got some real exercise, but she knew that her role was to watch over her two besties.

After the first aid was done, Hunter, Mia, Max, and Liz left the suite, saying that they will go to their suites to change and freshen up before deciding what to do with the rest of the evening. It was close to 10 PM, but that is early for sleep in Las Vegas.

On their way out, Liz and Mia made sure that Bri knows they will come and check on her soon.

Since Brianna and Quentin didn't talk with everyone present, the only option was to leave them alone and see if that works.

With only Brianna and Quentin in the suite, it was unusually quiet.

When their friends left, Brianna moved to sit on a sofa, opposite Quentin, and Quentin thought that she will say something, but to his disappointment, she was silent.

Quentin looked at Brianna who seemed to be mesmerized with her own feet because that is where she was staring, like he is not there.

Quentin stood up and went to reach for his jacket.

"No need to feel tense because of me. I will get myself another suite.", he said solemnly.

Brianna lifted her head and looked at him with a frown of disapproval. "You are leaving?"

Quentin shrugged. "What do you want me to do? You are not even looking at me."

"I don't know what to say."

Quentin was getting agitated again. That fight didn't allow him to steam out all his anger. "You don't? How come you don't know what to say to me, but you don't have problems talking shit about me to your friends?"

Brianna was confused. "What shit?"

"I was not there, but it does not take a genius to put the pieces together. You disapprove that I took Kendra's call, and you are suspecting me of cheating. You didn't talk to me about it. Instead, you decided to have some girl-time while ignoring my phone calls and leaving me in the dark."

"That is not what happened.", Brianna said with urgency.

Quentin narrowed his eyes at Brianna and spoke in a low voice: "Why don't you tell me what happened?"

Brianna opened her mouth and closed it. What he said is not right, but it's not completely wrong either.

Quentin sneered. "See? You can't talk to me. Why don't you call Liz and Mia, and you can tell them what is going on in that head of yours, and they can give me a filtered version with their scornful looks piled up on top like I am bullying you. You don't need to leave this time, feel free to use this suite; it's fully paid. I will give you all the space you want."

Quentin moved toward the door and Brianna panicked.

"Where are you going?"

"I still didn't decide if I will get another room or return to Seattle. Whichever it is, it will include me getting drunk.", Quentin said flatly.

"Don't."

Quentin exhaled and lifted his arms in defeat. "What do you want me to do, Bri? Tell me… what should I do?"

"Don't leave."

"What is the point of me staying if you will ignore me? So that we can be together in silence?"

"I would rather be with you in silence than talk to anyone else."

Now it was Quentin's turn to be speechless as his anger sizzled away.

He rubbed his chin forcibly out of habit and grimaced when the skin on his face moved, stretching his lip that is busted.

Brianna grimaced with him and asked with concern: "Does it hurt?"

"Yes."

"Why did you fight?", Brianna asked even though she knew the answer.

"Because I was angry… and he dared to put his hands on you. I could not stand seeing that."

"I'm sorry.", Brianna said in a half-whisper.

"For?"

Brianna looked at him with longing and responded: "If I didn't agree to go with girls to the nightclub, we would not be apart, that guy would not get his chance to approach me, and you would not fight."

Quentin exhaled. "And I am sorry for taking Kendra's call and messing up the whole evening."

Quentin noticed that Brianna's eyes flashed with something unfathomable when he mentioned Kendra's name. He remembered his talk with Max and the part of Kendra ruining his date with Brianna stood out. Quentin was curious.

Quentin was not sure if he should stay or leave, but he wanted to get his answers first.

"Bri, can I ask you something?"

Brianna nodded.

"Do you remember our first date?"

"The one that didn't end well?", Brianna asked.

Quentin hummed in confirmation. "When Kendra brought the dress and did your hair… did she say anything?"

Brianna lowered her head. She didn't want to think about Kendra, and she wondered why Quentin brought this up. That date was the evening Brianna was trying to suppress in her memory. It was the evening when she realized that she has feelings for Quentin and that a hookup was not OK, and she ran away. She felt foolish that for the first time in her life she wanted more than a hookup, and a hookup was the only thing she would get. That was their first date, but for Brianna is only a memory full of bitterness.

Brianna didn't look up, but she knew that Quentin is watching her and expecting an answer. "She said many things."

"Like?"

Brianna shook her head, refusing to elaborate. "That was a long time ago."

Quentin moved to sit on the sofa next to Brianna. "Please, Bri… it's important for me to know."

Brianna lifted her gaze to meet his and only now she realized that he has a bruise on his left cheek and his lower lip looked much worse up close. Her heart ached.

"Why do you want to know about Kendra and me? Why now?", Brianna asked.

Quentin knew that if he brings up him sleeping with Kendra, that will detonate their relationship into oblivion, but there are things he can say safely without lying. "In my opinion, my relationship with Kendra is professional and that is why she is my assistant. But Max mentioned that she might be interested in a different kind of relationship."

Brianna nodded in understanding. "You want me to say something that will give you a reason to fire her."

"No.", Quentin said immediately. "She is by my side for years and I need to know if I am being deceived or not. I trust that you will say the truth. That is why I am asking."
