Chapter 21 - 19

Dwight is furious and he keeps cursing Keith out loud. He is too mad to mind the looks his staff are giving him now; normally he would glare at them to keep them in their place. He couldn't care less about his associates, this job is not even important to him. He's pissed off and could not bother to think of what a common employee thinks about him. He glanced to where Alex is sitting and saw the Omega is already starting to pack his things. He clenched his jaw as he remembered what happened in the recently concluded meeting with Keith.

"Starting today Mr. Fernandez, you'll report at my office." Keith announced nonchalantly.

"Keith we have two interns in our team you can take Mr. Stevens instead." Dwight countered. He could not let Keith take Alex. He hasn't gotten a taste of the Omega and he will not let the bastard take his Omega away from him again.

"Is there a difference if I choose Mr. Fernandez?" Keith asked, furrowing his brows at Dwight. "Don't tell me your interns are already doing important work that they cannot be transferred to. How long have they been here again?" Keith said, looking at April for an answer instead of Dwight. Clearly showing how little he thinks of Dwight.

"Almost a week Sir." April responded, ignoring the deathly glare Dwight is sending her way. She knew her boss has his eyes on Alex and probably wouldn't want him to go, coz if the Omega moved to the Executive Office, there's no way Dwight could have his way with him. He'll be untouchable even for someone like her boss.

"Then I don't see the problem." Keith smiled with a dismissive tone, furtherly firing up Dwight's anger. "Dana scheduled a lunch or dinner for the whole team, charge it to my account." Keith instructed Dana, earning a bunch of thank you from the staff. He then adjourned the meeting and walked out of the room, not waiting for Dwight to talk some more.

Silence filled the room as the tension from the two Alphas pheromones still remained. Some even started to fan themselves as if relieving themselves from a massive heart attack. Even Alex and Dan are trying to steady their breathing as Omegas are more susceptible to succumb to an Alpha's pheromone attack.

They were all just recovering when Dwight suddenly banged his fist on the conference table startling everyone inside. They subtly stare at each other, then slowly stand up from their chair, and swiftly run away from the room. Dan nudged Alex to do the same as his friend seemed to have spaced out.

Dwight massages his temple and leaned his back on his chair, thinking of ways to keep Alex in his department. More than the thought of not being able to take the Omega to his bed, what pissed him more is the fact that Keith just slapped his power in his face once again. That once more, that bastard has proven that he is superior to him.

Dwight stood up when he noticed that Alex was about to leave. "You don't need to go. I'll talk to the president again." He said trying to keep Alex from leaving. If he can keep Alex in his department, at least for once he can win against Keith. Yes, he will not let Alex go and send the other Omega instead.

"You! Go instead." He said pointing at Dan to go instead of Alex. He wants to see what Keith's reaction would be if he didn't follow his orders. Surely he will not send Dan Stevens back to his department, after all that bastard is in need of another headcount and he's sure he picked someone from his department just to pissed him off like always.

Both Alex and Dan don't know what to do. Dwight is still superior to them but then the president asked specifically for Alex. The president trumps the department manager, but it's the manager now who's giving them orders. As the two Omegas are getting confused they glanced at April for help. After all, everyone knows it's the assistant manager who's actually doing the work in this department.

"What are you waiting for Stevens?" Dwight bellowed, making Dan squirm. The Alpha is emitting too many pheromones and it's making his knees weak. He suddenly felt envious of Alex, as he is already bonded he's not getting affected from their manager's pheromone attack.

"Wait a minute, Alex was also gasping for air earlier in the meeting room. He was clearly affected by the pheromones like everyone else." Dan said, talking to himself in his head. Dan's eyes grew wide as realization hit him. Now everything makes sense to him, Alex being tense as soon as the president came in and he kept his head down the entire duration of the meeting. He's even sure his friend did not hear any of the presentation. Alex being affected by the pheromones during the argument between the two Alphas only meant one thing. One of them is the one he bonded with, and clearly it's not Dwight as Alex has never been affected by him. The hunky president is Alex's Alpha! Which also means that it's not Martin! He felt relieved somehow with that clarification.

"Hey! Are you that stupid? I told you to go instead of Fernandez! And you Fernandez, stay on your desk and continue to do your tasks."

"But Sir! The president insisted on having Alex transferred to the Executive Office." April intervened. Their boss is clearly losing his composure. He's already disrupting everyone more than the usual.

"Are you contradicting my order? You're just a Beta! Shut your trap." Dwight angrily shouts at April who remains unaffected. To her, her boss can keep his job because of his connection but she can keep her job because she's good at it and their president is a reasonable person and will not easily be pressured to terminate her.

With what's going on, none of the staff can work anymore. They can't believe their boss is losing his cool over an Omega.

The chaos halted when they heard a knock coming from the entrance.

"Excuse me. The president wants to see Mr. Fernandez right now." Dana interrupted. She can hear loud voices from a few meters away and deduces that Dwight is probably having a fit. Keith definitely knew this would happen, that's why she sent her to pick up the Omega. She still doesn't know why her boss is so interested in the Omega but she's not here to question that but she's here to follow an order. Otherwise Keith will be the one throwing a fit.

Alex glanced at April, asking her for permission on what to do. Part of him is hesitant to go as he doesn't know how to face the Alpha after their bonding almost a month ago. Is he gonna force him to undo their bonding? He heard that there's a surgery that can make that happen but it might kill him. Or is he gonna kill him so that their bond will not be in effect anymore? "Or maybe he just wants to see you and be with you?" said a small voice in his head that he's trying not to listen to.

Another part of him is glad to leave this place. He had too much nauseating experience from Dwight's harassment that being away from here means he'll be free from those advances.

"Mr. Fernandez, we should go. The president hates waiting." Dana interrupted again, this time she did it with Alex and his thoughts.

"Hey! It will be fine. I'll meet you after work." Dan whispered in Alex's ears. He squeezed Alex's hands as if sending him some encouragement.

Alex nodded to Dan and followed Dana out, much to Dwight's objection. He was trying to make Alex bend with his pheromones to keep him from going but it did not affect him at all. Instead, Dan was almost on his knees if not for April's support.

Dwight storms out of the office as soon as Alex leaves, leaving Dan on the verge of collapsing from his pheromone attack a while ago.. April and another Beta employee assisted Dan to the clinic for assistance.
