Chapter 26 - 24

"Excited to go home?"

Alex looked at Chloe who just asked him that question.

"You seem to be distracted, you keep staring at your phone and tapping your fingers on the desk. Is your first day too overwhelming?" Chloe asked teasingly.

"No.. I'm—

"What is so overwhelming about it? All he did was just deliver a cup of coffee to Keith. He's just a useless bitch that got transferred here." Vera hissed, interrupting Alex who was about to reply to Chloe.

"Don't mind him. She's just jealous. She'll get over it soon." Chloe whispered to Alex, trying to pacify him in case he got offended. "So, were you really excited to go home? Got a date?" she asked, continuing their conversation as if Vera did not interrupted them.

"Ah.. no.. I'm waiting for my friend who is also an intern here. We ahm.. we.. we.. had plans for dinner. Yeah that's it. I have dinner plans with.. ahmm a friend that's why I was checking my phone, but ahm I'm not going early. I ahm still.. I still have to wait for him to finish work. He said his boss asked him to finish something. So I'm just gonna wait for him here. We.. will go together afterwards." Alex explained, taking a deep breath afterwards.

"Wow! That's the longest I heard you talk today. Please, please! Please always talk like that. This place is so boring. I'm the only one who talks a lot. Chloe said excitedly.

"If you want to talk and gossip, do it somewhere else your voices are annoying." Vera responded while glaring at Alex. Clearly still not over the coffee delivery incident. She vowed to take back that task from the Omega. It was her only chance to flirt with Keith and make him aware of her presence. A mere scent less Omega can not take that away from her.

Dana stared at the bickering assistants, she has been working with the two of them for over a year and has been used to this kind of scene. However this time, Vera seems to be more annoyed at Alex, the Omega their boss personally brought in. She didn't know the reason why but she understood that there is obviously something going on. The coffee delivery earlier did not surprise her, however the boss just told her now to ask the other assistants to leave early and not let them do overtime today. The three of them normally stayed an hour or two after office hours as their boss usually works later than everyone else in the company. Dana sighed. Now, how should she tell the other two to leave on time without arousing suspicions?

"So is the friend a girl or perhaps a boy?" Chloe continued to pester Alex for details and further annoyed Vera.

"That's enough! Chloe and Vera you can clock out on the dot today. Alex you can stay here until thirty minutes after we leave. If you still need to wait for ahm... your friend then wait somewhere else."

"What? Why?" Vera inquired, not happy that Alex is being allowed to stay later than them.

"The boss will leave early today. The president has some personal appointments." Dana replied.

"Ohhh the boss has another one." Chloe reacted all knowingly.

"Another one?" Alex inquired curiously.

"Blind date." Vera responded instead.

Am I just another blind date? Alex asked himself, the warm feeling he has inside when he thought that Keith is trying his best for them to work out is slowly dissipating. It is being replaced now by self doubt and anxiety making him nauseous, his stomach quivering.

"You see, the boss is the most sought after bachelor in the country and the queen mother, meaning the boss' mother is longing for grandchildren so she wants the boss to get married as soon as possible. The queen mother arranged blind dates for the boss. The women range from daughters of business magnates to models and even celebrities. However none of them has ever captured the boss' heart. He has never gone on a date with the same person. That is why some of them stalked the boss even after he rejected them." Chloe explained. "Some women though, like really some of them who did not even go on a blind date with the boss are doing everything to get the boss' attention." Chloe said while glancing at Vera's direction.

"Oh well. At least unlike some lowly Omegas, I have better chances." Vera sneered, this time she's looking in Alex's direction.

Alex looks at Chloe for details. He clearly still has a lot to learn about the Alpha he bonded with.

"You see, the boss hates Omega. Well that is as far as everyone knows. The boss only dates Alphas or Betas and avoids Omegas."

Keith hates Omega. Keith hates Omega. Keith hates Omega. Alex kept repeating Chloe's words inside his head.

"Hey something wrong?" Keith asked when he noticed Alex spacing out. He is currently driving the car himself that is why he cannot give his full attention to Alex. Martin called him earlier to tell him he had some personal matter he needed to attend, though he really planned to drive himself tonight. He wanted to spend more time alone with his Omega, though right now he wished he asked someone to drive them so he could focus all his attention on his Omega who is obviously getting agitated again. He can sense in the pheromones he is emitting.

"Nothing." Alex replied.

"Hey, we agreed to work things out right and get to know each other. We need to be honest and not keep things from one another." Keith replied, trying to coax Alex to speak up while giving him a quick glance.

Alex bites his fingernails, he agrees with what Keith just said but he is not sure how to bring up the latter's hatred towards Omegas.

"I won't get mad. You can tell me anything."

"Ahmm... they.. ahh.. they.. they said that.. you.. you h...haa...hate Omegas." Alex finally blurted out.

"Hmmm hate is a strong word but I would say I dislike them in general." Keith replied.

"Then what about me?" Alex asked, facing his body towards the Alpha.

"Well you are different."

"Why? Coz I'm bonded with you?"

"That too and I also sort of like you."

"Ohhhh!"

Keith noticed the relief in his Omega's face, his pheromones calmed down as well.

"Where are we going for dinner?" Alex asked curiously.

"I made a reservation for us." He replied, though Dana did it as he instructed. "If there is anything you wanted to eat then we can just cancel the reservation." Keith offered though the restaurant Dana booked has limited slots and are always fully booked, if she did not make the reservation under Keith's name it is doubtful that she would manage to snag a reservation and even a private one at that.

"Ahmm I sort of wanted to eat sushi but I'm okay with anything." Alex replied, he barely eats these days so he has no appetite whatsoever. He just came up with sushi as they passed by a sushi restaurant.

"No sushi. Anything but that. By the way, have you been eating lately? You seem thinner than I remembered."

"Ahh.. I haven't been eating much lately." Alex replied. "But don't worry, I'm usually like this when I'm stressed. It will get better eventually. I'm usually a big eater." He added when he noticed the worried look from the Alpha.

"Am I causing that stress?"

Alex chuckled at Keith's appearance, he's like a cute puppy worried to have offended his master. Not that he would say that to Keith. "Well you are part of the reason but today I'm worried about my brother." He replied honestly.

"You don't have a good relationship with your brother?"

"No. no.. We are actually pretty close. My brother is actually... too overprotective of me." Alex replied with a melancholic look as he thought of Matt. "He's so overprotective that I'm sure he will not react positively to us accidentally bonding with each other. Well the rest of my family will not be glad about it but my brother would have the strongest opposition. He is also coming back today. That's why I could not stay long for dinner."

"Do you need me to come with you?"

"No. It's alright, let's just enjoy this dinner." It would be a disaster if Matt met Keith tonight.. He's already dreading the moment he would meet his brother tonight.
