Chapter 55 - 53

"So how's married life so far?" Dan asked Alex as they were having their lunch. "This is really good." He exclaimed as he ate a spoonful of the vegetable fried rice Sebastian cooked for them.

"Hmm, well it has its ups and downs." Alex replied with a shrug and took a bite of the food as well.

"Hey, you sounded like someone who's been married for so long. Need I remind you, you just got married a week ago." Dan said laughing at his friend.

"I know it's just been a week but I'm not lying." Alex pouted. "Keith sometimes treats me like an invalid, he would draw the bath for me, sometimes he would even prepare my clothes. I mean I want to do those things for him too but he won't let me lift a finger inside our bedroom! The rest of the things he would ask Sebastian to do." Alex complained, nodding his head as if asking for Dan's agreement.

Dan scowled at his friend and flicked Alex's forehead in annoyance.

"Ouch! What the hell." Alex screamed. The two of them get startled when Colin suddenly barges inside the pantry. He subtly left when he realized that there was nothing serious going on.

"Who was that?" Dan curiously asked. "Anyway, were you bragging just now?" He turned his attention back to his clueless and currently annoying best friend.

"I'm not." Alex exclaimed. "Anyway, that's Colin. Keith assigned him to be my personal bodyguard." Alex added and told Dan how he argued with Keith over having a bodyguard.

Dan raised his eyebrows at his friend. "Ups and downs? Really?" Dan asked sarcastically.

"Fine! Yes I'm bragging. Happy now?" Alex pouted and then the two of them giggled like a bunch of teenagers.

"Yes and I hate you. Why am I the only one with a miserable love life." Dan sighed and then laughed it off afterwards.

"Dan.."

"Hey I'm fine. Don't stop talking about how happy you are because you think I'm not okay. I mean, I'm not there yet but I already accepted what happened to me. I'm still scared whenever I am outside and alone, I think that would take time but overall I'm fine. It makes me happy to know that you are happy okay? So don't suppress your happiness on my account. Besides, if not for you I wouldn't be like how I am today, I'm probably locked inside my apartment, afraid to go out while wallowing in self pity and feeling worthless because of my gender." Dan said when the mood turned awry.

The two of them continued their lunch despite the sudden change in the mood. Dan tried to change the mood by continuously teasing Alex's for bragging about his married life.

"Thanks for the meal. Please extend my gratitude to Sebastian. The food is superb." Dan exclaimed as he cleaned up the table.

"It's still early, we still have time for some after meal coffee." Alex said as Dan started to get ready to go back to his floor.

"Nah, I should head back now, I told you Dwight is still being an ass, I don't want to be the subject of his anger if he came back before me." Dan shudders at the thought of the pheromones his boss will exude once he gets mad again.

Vera anxiously watched the door and the clock alternately. She's waiting for the Omega to arrive before Keith and the others come back. There's no point in her plan if Keith saw Ivana first. Keith would probably tell the supermodel to leave.

Based on the meeting schedule, Keith would probably return in around half an hour, enough time for her plan to be complete, if only Alex would come back within the next five minutes.

"Why did you come back so early?" Alex asked Chloe as they walked towards their desk. They met just as he was sending Dan off to the elevator.

"It's so hot outside and it's pathetic to eat alone so I decided to just head back." Chloe replied as she say down on her chair.

"You're right on time. Keith asked for a cup of coffee." Vera coldly tells Alex.

"That's surprising, you didn't jump the chance to deliver the coffee yourself." Chloe said suspisciously.

"Duh! If I do that you all will make it a big deal again. Anway can you make the coffee now, if you don't want then I do it myself." Vera sneered at the two of them.

"I'll prepare it right away." Alex replied, smiling. He really needs to talk to Keith about his sudden coffee addiction.

"Where's Dana?" Chloe asked as soon as Alex was gone.

"I dunno." Vera responded briefly.

Chloe still eyed Vera suspiciously as she started to do her job despite the fact that it's still their lunch break. She still thinks something is amiss.

Alex was gone for a few minutes and over that time Vera kept biting her lips and watching the door. Fortunately that new security guy is still not around as well. He might tell Alex that Keith is not actually inside his office if he saw the Omega coming in with a coffee.

"Can you move faster? You still haven't completed the task I asked you to do." Vera scolds Alex. She purposely gave the Omega too much work today so he won't spend too much time on his lunch break.

"I'm sorry. I will do it right away after I deliver this." Alex apologized. It's better to just apologize than fuel Vera's anger. "I just hope Keith sends me out immediately." Alex thought to himself. As Keith uses the "coffee" as an excuse to spend time with him, five minutes is not enough. It's probably one of the reasons why Vera hates him.

Alex knocked on the door first though he found it weird that Keith did not respond. Keith normally answered immediately telling him to come in whenever he expected him to come to his office.

Alex smiled brightly ready to greet his husband back as soon as he entered and closed the door behind him.

The tray slipped from his hands, a gasp escaped from him the same time the cup hit the carpeted floor.

"What the hell. I told the woman not to let anyone in." Ivana angrily said when he saw Alex walked in.

Alex stood frozen for a few seconds before anger rose up in his head. He frowned at the woman who became hysterical at his presence. He couldn't care less if she's screaming mad at him as he himself is furious. He kicked the tray he dropped and angrily rushed out of the room. Keith has some explaining to do.

Vera stares at Keith's door with an evil grin, completely sure Alex is getting flustered now and being intimidated by the Alpha supermodel's presence. An Omega like him will not stand a chance against an Alpha like her. If Alex did his research he would know who Ivana is and that she's the latest person Kate Andersen has chosen for his son.

The door abruptly opened and Vera excitedly ready herself to see the humiliated and flustered face of the Omega she hates so much. What she didn't expect is an angry Alex coming out of the president's office.

"Wait a minute. Why is this Omega not crying or not flustered? He should be intimidated by Ivana. He shouldn't be furious." Vera asked herself confusedly. Did her plans fail? She's sure Ivana is still inside and that she should be able to put this Omega to his place.

"You got some explaining to do." Alex angrily asked Keith who just came back, Dana and Martin behind him.

"Shit! Why are they back already?" Vera thought to herself. Why is she the one getting flustered? What went wrong to her plans?
