128 He Won’t Let Da Cheng Be Implicated

Prince Lu Wei wondered if the Emperor knew of his daughter's proposal to him. After spending some times in Da Cheng, Prince Lu Wei could sense that most of the times, Princess Lingchen did not consult the Emperor with her decision.

For example, Prince Lu Wei knew that the Emperor was not aware that he had accidentally found out about the poison in the Princess body. The Emperor did not know that Princess Lingchen provided him with her protection in exchange for keeping the secret. That made him wonder, what would the Emperor do if the Emperor found out about this matter.

"I wanted your opinion," the Emperor spoke carefully. "What do you think? What are your plans?"

How could Prince Lu Wei did not understand what the Emperor was trying to say to him? Wasn't the Emperor trying to tell him subtly to return to Qian Rong with the ambassador?

Prince Lu Wei certainly did not expect his brother to use this method to bring him back.

"Your Majesty, I apologize," Prince Lu Wei lowered his head. "I never meant to let Da Cheng to be involved in the misunderstanding between my brother and me. Don't worry. I will settle this matter and won't let Da Cheng be implicated in any way."

Prince Lu Wei left the palace after exchanging a few words with the Emperor. In their conversation, he had promised that he would go with the ambassador within a week. He then stopped by the guest house where the envoy from Qian Rong was staying and told them his plan.

Once he returned to the guest house where he had been staying for the last few months, Prince Lu Wei snuck out. He then left a message with the bamboo emblem at the stationery's shop.

Prince Lu Wei planned to follow the envoy until they reached the border between Da Cheng and Eastern Zhou. Once he was out of Da Cheng, he will make his escape and returned to Sui Country where his grandmother and his clan stayed.

As for the Crown Princess of Da Cheng, there was nothing else he could do. He was thankful for the Princess' help and hospitality. However, the Princess could not agree to his terms. Therefore, he could not help her to cure the cold poison in her body. He can only pray that the Princess will find another batch of Shadow Grass.

He will not agree to marry the Princess because it will be convenient for both of them. Marriage is a sacred thing. He did not want to ruin the Princess' future by agreeing to marry.

When Jiang Xiao Tian returned to the Jiang's household, a servant immediately notify him that a guest was waiting for him at his courtyard. Jiang Xiao Tian went back to his yard and found a familiar figure sitting in the waiting room.

"Eunuch Xia," Jiang Xiao Tian greeted the older man. "Why are you here?"

Eunuch Xia stood up immediately and smiled. His body hunched due to his age.

"Jiang Xiao Tian, I hope that I am not interrupting you," the eunuch said.

"Did His Majesty send you here?" Jiang Xiao Tian asked. He frowned once he noticed the outfit Eunuch Xia was wearing. He was dressed in plain clothes. This could mean that the eunuch did not come out of the palace due to official business, or he came out incognito.

Eunuch Xia only smiled at Jiang Xiao Tian's question. "The Emperor summoned Prince Lu Wei of Qian Rong this morning. At the end of their conversation, Prince Lu Wei had agreed to leave Da Cheng with the envoy from Qian Rong."

Jiang Xiao Tian was surprised as he heard the news.

Not long ago, Jiang Xiao Tian had asked Eunuch Xia to keep an eye on Prince Lu Wei if he entered the palace to meet the Emperor. Eunuch Xia was very loyal to the Emperor. He had served beside the Emperor ever since the Emperor ascended the throne. However, Eunuch Xia also knew of Jiang Xiao Tian's role beside the Emperor. Therefore, he trusted Jiang Xiao Tian very much. The eunuch knew that whatever Jiang Xiao Tian do it was only for the benefit of the imperial family.

Jiang Xiao Tian thought over the matter for a moment before he thanked Eunuch Xia. Xiao Tian did not forget to reward the eunuch with a silver ingot for coming over to the Jiang's household with his information.

Once Eunuch Xia returned to the palace, Jiang Xiao Tian stayed in his room to think over his next move.

Still, he could not understand why Prince Lu Wei decided to leave with the envoy from Qian Rong. Did he not know that once he crossed the border of Da Cheng, his brother would take action. Perhaps, even the envoy from Qian Rong was sent by his brother to end Prince Lu Wei's life.

Does it mean that Prince Lu Wei would instead take his chance with the envoy than help Princess Lingchen to cure the poison?
