140 Grandmother Detected Something

Yang Yun stared at the old lady and frowned. He had no idea what was the lady saying. What has he taken?

"Chief Ye, what do you mean?" Yang Yun asked.

The older woman looked up when she heard Yang Yun's voice. She released Yang Yun's hand and stared at his face with a complicated gaze. Just as Chief Ye was about to say something, a soldier came forward. The soldier then informed that her grandson was looking for her. Chief Ye glanced at Yang Yun and turned around with a sigh.

Yang Yun could only stare at the old lady with a perplexed look. When Chief Ye disappeared from his sight, Yang Yun pulled on the rein and led the horse out.

Two days later, Prince Lu Wei and his grandmother arrived at a restaurant by the lake and was escorted towards a private room. When he entered the room, Princess Lingchen had come and was brewing some tea. She was dressed in purple cloth, and a thick coat hung on her shoulder.

"Prince Lu Wei," Princess Lingchen rose from her seat and smiled.

The Prince immediately took off the scarf that covered half of his face. "Greetings to Crown Princess Lingchen. Thank you for meeting me here." Prince Lu Wei followed the Princess' gaze and noticed that she was looking at his grandmother. "This is my maternal grandmother. You can call her Chief Ye."

The old lady stepped forward and knelt. "Greetings, Your Highness."

Princess Lingchen immediately helped the Prince's grandmother to stand up. "We're not in the palace. You don't have to pay attention much on the formalities." Then, she invited the two to sit down. Soon after, a servant walked in, carrying a tray of delicacies.

Chief Ye smiled politely. "I heard you saved my grandchild's life. For that, I am thankful to you."

The Prince's expression softened a little bit. He was initially worried when his grandmother told him that she wanted to come along with him and meet the Crown Princess of Da Cheng. Prince Lu Wei knew how much the clan hated the royalties, especially after what happened between them with Sui Country's royalty years ago.

When his mother married the Emperor of Qian Rong, his grandmother's hatred towards the royalties intensified. His father, the late emperor of Qian Rong, had tricked his mother. The late emperor was on his secret inspection at a small town and met his mother.

At that time, his mother thought that the emperor was a commoner. Who knew that not long after, his mother was pregnant with him. When the late emperor found out, he took his mother into the palace. Because of this, Chief Ye had no other choice but to refrain from meeting her daughter.

"Back then, it was due to my physician's aid that Prince Lu Wei's life was saved," Princess Lingchen said. "I did not do anything much."

"No matter. You have helped my grandchild during his stay in Da Cheng. I should thank you."

"Crown Princess, we came to thank you for your help," Prince Lu Wei said. "Commander Jiang explained that you sent the few people to ensure my safety until I arrived in Qian Rong."

Princess Lingchen could only smile helplessly at the two people in front of her. They talked briefly about Prince Lu Wei's intention to return with his grandmother to their clan and soon, Prince Lu Wei and his grandmother excused themselves. The Crown Princess promised to see them again before they leave Da Cheng.

Prince Lu Wei and his grandmother walked back to the inn where they have stayed for a couple of days.

"The Crown Princess," Chief Ye spoke when they had gotten farther. "She's unwell."

"Grandmother, what did you know?" Prince Lu Wei had an alarm expression on his face. It was then that he recalled that his grandmother had made contact with the Princess when Princess Lingchen helped her up. His grandmother must have detected something during that brief interaction. "Grandmother, this thing, you cannot mention this to anyone else. I have promised to keep it a secret."

Chief Ye narrowed her eyes at her grandson. "Do you think I'm an idiot?"

"Grandmother, I did not mean it like that," Prince Lu Wei said with a sigh.

Chief Ye huffed and lowered her gaze. "That thing has been living inside her for years," she muttered. "How long has she been sick?"

"I only know that she has been suffering the cold poison when she was small." Prince Lu Wei said. He studied his grandmother's expression and frowned. "Grandmother, you want to help her?"
