204 He was Watching Her

Friends.

Yang Yun felt a pang of pain in his heart when he heard the word. They were married, and now, his wife said that they could be considered friends. How can this happen to him?

However, the pain gradually faded when he saw her smiling brightly at him. Yang Yun let out a helpless sigh and said, "Yes."

He made a mental note to work hard on helping Mingyue to remember things. Or else, he might go crazy.

Lin Mingyue's smile widened. In her thought, since they are friends, then it would not be weird if she wanted to look for him once in a while. Mingyue tilted her head down and paused when she saw some grass alongside the road. It was then that she recalled the grass Yang Yun had dug back in the woods.

"Can I ask you something?" Lin Mingyue saw Yang Yun nodded and continued, "I saw you digging some grass with small flowers back in the woods. Was that grass a type of herbs?"

Yang Yun froze for a second. He wondered if perhaps Mingyue had remembered something when she saw the herbs. But looking at her expression, it does not seem that way.

"I browsed through the internet," Lin Mingyue said before Yang Yun could say anything, "but I could not find any information on it."

Yang Yun pursed his lips. If he told her that it was a type of herbs, then he will need to explain its usage and benefits. However, although Shadow Grass can cure poisons in his world, it had no benefit in this world.

"I just thought that the flower looks nice," Yang Yun answered. "I thought it was a type of orchid, but I guess I was mistaken."

"Oh," Lin Mingyue lilted her head down and frowned. Then, those dreams she had, was really nothing but a dream?

"Why are you interested in the grass?"

"Huh?" Lin Mingyue snapped out of her thought and smiled. "It might sound silly," she bit her lips. "But I had a dream about a young girl and her grandfather. In that dream, the grandfather taught the little girl about herbs. And then, the grandfather showed the little girl a drawing. There was a herb called Shadow Grass."

Yang Yun froze at his place. "What did you say?"

"Shadow Grass," Lin Mingyue repeated. She stared at Yang Yun's expression and noticed that something did not seem right. "Yang Yun, what's wrong with you? Are you alright? You look a bit pale."

"I'm fine," Yang Yun forced a smile and started walking to her side again. He took a couple of deep breaths to calm down. "What else did you see in your dream?"

Lin Mingyue thought over it and shook her head. "Nothing else. It's just that, the drawing in my dream looked the same as the grass you dug out in the woods."

Yang Yun stared at Mingyue, but could not find anything unusual. He knew that the dreams that Mingyue mentioned were part of her memory with her maternal grandfather. Han Zhenting was the one who taught Mingyue medicine and herbs.

"Have you had another dream like that?"

"No." Mingyue shook her head. That was the first and last she had dreamed of the old grandfather.

When Mingyue began to think of that grandfather, her heart started to ache. She secretly hoped that the grandfather would appear in her dream again.

The two of them walked until they reached a junction. Lin Mingyue stopped and looked at Yang Yun. "Do you mind if I stop by for milk tea?"

Yang Yun followed Mingyue's gaze towards a small shop.People were lining up to buy something. Seeing Mingyue's eager expression, Yang Yun nodded to agree.

"You wait here. The queue isn't that long. I will be back soon."

Lin Mingyue crossed the road before Yang Yun could reply. Yang Yun followed Mingyue through his gaze and sighed. His thought went towards their conversation earlier.

She had dreams of her grandfather.

Then, does it mean Mingyue's memory was slowly coming back to her?

Wasn't that great news?

He had secretly fed Mingyue with Chief Ye's medicine when they went hiking last week. Now that Mingyue could see her memory through her dreams, does it mean the medicine Chief Ye had given him help? If that was the case, then he had to continue feeding Mingyue with the medicine.

On the other side of the road, Lin Mingyue paid for her milk tea and turned around to head back to Yang Yun's side. Her steps halted when she saw him leaning on the wall as he waited for her on the other side.

The night wind blew, and Mingyue could see his long hair swayed.

He stood straight and tall. His posture and the way he had his hand in his pocket looked pleasing to her eyes. A few girls who walked pass him would stop to check him out. However, Mingyue could see that he did not pay any attention to them.

From a distance, Mingyue could feel that he was watching her.

Suddenly, Mingyue felt her heart skipped a beat. Her throat felt dry, and her cheek felt hot.

It was not hard to see that his gaze on her was different.

Lin Mingyue took a sip from her milk tea to wet her throat and sauntered towards him.

Suddenly, a scene flashed through her mind — a man dressed in black, leaning on the wall. Then, two maidens walked past him, and one of them dropped her handkerchief. However, that man showed no reaction to help them.

Mingyue frowned as she felt a sharp pain on her head. She shut her eyes and shook her head to make the pain go away.

"Mingyue!"

She snapped out and felt a hard push on her shoulder. Then someone grabbed her wrist. Her face collided with something hard, and in an instant, a familiar smell surrounded her. Lin Mingyue opened her eyes to see that she was in Yang Yun's arm.

"Are you alright?"

She blinked. "Yes. What's wrong?" Lin Mingyue followed Yang Yun's gaze and saw a few boys on their bicycles. It was then that she figured out that Yang Yun had run across the road when he saw that she did not pay attention to her surroundings. One of them hit her on her shoulder. If it were not for Yang Yun, the collision would be worse.

"I'm fine," Mingyue said softly. "Thank you."
