209 A Family Who Loved Her

When Lin Mingyue opened her eyes, she realized that the scenery around her has changed. She realized that she was no longer in the hospital. It was nighttime, and the view before her reminded her of those costume dramas that her mother loved to watch.

She looked around and realized that she was in a busy street. People walked around back and forth, and the stall owner and peddlers shouted as they tried to sell their goods.

Mingyue's gaze fell on a girl who stood across the street. The little girl dressed in pink. Her hair tied into two small buns and adorned with tiny flowers. Her cheek reddened as the cold wind blew over. The girl's eyes turned red as she looked around as if looking for someone.

From her expression, Mingyue could guess that the girl tried so hard to hold her tears from falling.

Instinctively, Mingyue headed towards the girl. Once she reached the girl, Mingyue realized that she could not touch the girl or everything before her.

"This… am I dreaming?" Mingyue muttered to herself.

She seemed to remember the stabbing pain in her chest before everything around her went black.

Before Mingyue could figure out what was happening, someone called out her name. Swiftly, Mingyue turned around and saw a teenage boy ran towards her. His face clouded with worry.

"Second Brother!" The little girl ran forward with her arms wide open.

The teenage boy crouched down and pulled the little girl into his arm. "Mingyue! I've found you!" He pulled away to inspect the little girl. "Are you hurt? Are you alright?"

Mingyue turned to look at the little Mingyue.

The little girl looked like she was about to cry in any second. "Second Brother, I'm alright," she said with a sniff. "I did not cry."

Second Brother heaved with relief once he was sure that his sister was alright. "I'm sorry. We promised that we would look after you. But we got separated from you. It was our fault."

"It was not your fault," the little girl said. "There are too many people in the street."

The boy's expression softened as he listened to the girl's words. "Come on. We should go and find Elder Brother and Third Brother."

Little Mingyue nodded, and while holding hands, the two siblings walked away. Subconsciously, Lin Mingyue trailed after the two siblings. They stopped as they reached under a plum blossom tree.

"Mingyue!" Two boys ran towards them anxiously. The two began to circle the little girl to check for any injuries.

"Elder Brother, Third Brother, I'm alright. I'm sorry I made everyone worry."

The three brothers looked at each other and smiled at the little girl.

"It's alright. It's good as long as you're safe," the elder brother patted the little girl on her head.

"Elder Brother is right," the Third Brother said. "Come on. Let's get back home. Mother and father will be waiting for us."

"Are you tired?" the Elder Brother asked. He turned around and crouched down on one knee. "Climb up. I'll carry you."

"Un," Little Mingyue nodded. She put her arms around her Elder Brother's shoulder and climbed up.

Lin Mingyue watched as the four siblings interacted with each other. Her lips slowly curved into a smile. However, as soon as the siblings disappeared from her eyesight, Mingyue felt another stabbing pain in her heart.

Her eyes grew hot, and her nose stung. She covered her mouth with her hand as a sob escaped her. Mingyue did not know why, but when she saw the three brothers, her heart ached as if she was missing something.

The scene she saw… It was as if they were a part of her memories. She seemed to have a family who loved her very much. However, why can't she remember anything?

In the end, Mingyue sat down on the street and hugged her knees closer to her chest. Without knowing why tears streamed down her cheek, and she started to cry her heart out.

Lin Mingyue opened up her eyes again and blinked. She stared at the ceiling for a long time and realized that this time, she was in the hospital. Instinctively, Mingyue pinched her cheek.

It was painful. This time, she was not dreaming.

"You're awake!"

Lin Mingyue turned to the source of the voice and saw her sister, Lin Tian Yu, staring at her anxiously. "Sister?" Her voice sounded hoarse.

Lin Tian Yu turned to pour her a glass of water. "Drink."

Mingyue held the glass and took a few sips of water obediently. "Why are you here? What happened to me?"

Lin Tian Yu sighed as she sat beside her sister. "I received a call from the hospital. They said you fainted in the hall. The doctor said it was probably because of too much stress." She raised a brow teasingly and continued. "What is it? It couldn't be that you were still too excited after yesterday's event?"

"Sister…" Lin Mingyue cast her gaze down when she realized that she had called her sister last night to share the news that she had decided to date Yang Yun. "Then, mom and dad?"

"Don't worry. I didn't say anything to them," Lin Tian Yu said. "But what happened to you? Earlier, you were muttering something and cried in your sleep. What were you dreaming about?"

Mingyue bit her lips as she thought of the strange dream she had. In that dream, she saw a younger version of herself, and she seemed to have three brothers.

"I don't know," Mingyue said. "I cannot remember."

Her heart pained whenever she thought about the brothers. She was still trying to figure out about her dreams, and she did not want to say anything to her sister, or Lin Tian Yu might worry too much.

"Since you're awake, let's go back to your place and rest. Your superior came earlier and said that you should go back and rest. You don't have to stay in the hospital tonight. Someone else had volunteered to cover for you."
