258 Why is There a Scar?

General Lin was lifting his cup to his lips when he heard Mingyue's news. Suddenly, the tea stuck at his throat, and General Lin was coughing heavily.

"Dad! Are you alright?" Mingyue passed her father a napkin and then patted him softly on his back.

Soon, General Lin stopped coughing. He turned to look at Mingyue with a frown. "You're married? How can you be married?" He remembered how small Mingyue was when they found her. Six years ago, she was a teenager! Mingyue was at the age where she was supposed to be in school, studying!

Suddenly, he started to criticized Mingyue's biological parents in his heart. How can they allow a kid to get married?

As if understanding her father's thought, Mingyue smiled. Dad, the legal age in my world isn't like here. In my world, the marriageable age is earlier than in this world."

General Lin paused in his movement. After giving it a thought, he took a deep breath and exhaled. "Forget it. I should not find it strange. At that age, you already know so much about medicine and surgery." However, in a second, the General's expression changed again. "You said that he had come to find you. Does it mean that you are planning to return to your world?"

"Yes."

Although General Lin was expecting that answer, he still thought that it was hard to believe. "You know how?"

"I don't. But, Yang Yun knows how to do it," Mingyue answered.

General Lin went quiet for a long time. Minutes passed by, and Mingyue was getting worried by his silence. Just as she was about to call her father, General Lin asked, "When are you leaving?"

"In three months."

As Jiang Mingyue woke up, she wrapped her arms around Yang Yun's waist and snuggled into his embrace. Looking at how his wife behaved, Yang Yun let out a chuckle.

"You're still sleeping?" Yang Yun asked. "Don't you have to go to work today?"

Mingyue shook her head. "No. A colleague exchanged her shift with me. So, I'm off work today," she said. "Let's stay this way a while longer. Besides, my sister and Brother Xue are planning to get a marriage certificate this afternoon. I wanted to be there with them."

Yang Yun smiled. He planted a kiss on Mingyue's on top of her head as he ran his finger along her silky, long hair.

"I almost forgot. My parents wanted to meet you again," Mingyue said. She looked at his confused expression and smiled. "When I told my dad that you're actually my husband, he said that he wanted to meet his son-in-law."

"Alright," Yang Yun agreed quickly. "You arrange a meeting for us."

Mingyue nodded before she continued to burrow her face on his chest. After a while, Mingyue sat up abruptly. She pulled the blanket to cover her body and pushed off the sheet from Yang Yun's body.

Yang Yun stared at his wife with an inquiring gaze as he watched her staring at his bare torso. "What are you doing?"

Mingyue did not answer. But instead, she traced her finger on his body and turning his gaze darker. Soon, her finger stopped at an ugly scar around his stomach. Mingyue recalled seeing the injury in the Emergency Room the first time Xue Yi Ming brought him to the hospital.

At that time, Mingyue had thought that the scar does not belong there. But she could not understand why she had that thought in the first place.

"What happened here? Mingyue asked. "Why is there a scar?"

Yang Yun glanced at the scar and paused. He lifted his gaze, and their gaze met. Looking at the way his wife was staring at him, suddenly, Yang Yun had a premonition that he was going to get some scolding.

"Yang Yun, I'm asking you, what happened?" Mingyue repeated. "This scar, it looks deep. The injury must have been bad. What happened?"

"I got into an accident during a mission. My team grabbed me out in time, and Grandfather was the one who performed the surgery on me," Yang Yun said.

However, he could not tell her how he got that injury. Back then, he was feeling miserable after she had disappeared. He had thought that he would never see his wife again. With that thought, Yang Yun started to act recklessly during his mission and was severely injured. If his wife knew about it, Yang Yun was sure that she would be sad and blamed herself for it.

Mingyue continued to stare at the wound. Yang Yun must have gotten that scar not too long after she disappeared. She could imagine how bad it was. The injury was in a critical position, and he must have lost a lot of blood from it. If her grandfather was not around to treat him, Mingyue was sure that she would never see Yang Yun again.

Yang Yun was surprised when he saw the tears streaming down her cheek. He sat up hastily and cupped her face with his hands. "Hey? What's wrong? Why are you crying?" His finger brushed to wipe her tears. "Don't cry. I'm alright, aren't I?"

Looking at the scar made her heart broke. She was not there when Yang Yun was injured. Everyone knew that in Da Cheng, she was the best surgeon after her grandfather. But her grandfather was getting old and could not stand a long operation. If anything goes wrong…

Mingyue could not bear to continue her thought.

"Look at me. Mingyue, look at me, alright?" Yang Yun tried to coax her. He tilted her chin up to force her to look at him in the eyes. "I'm alright."

"But you could have died!" Mingyue said.

Yang Yun pulled her into his embrace as he silently continued to coax and reassure her that he was alright.

Mingyue wiped her tears with her hand and pulled away from him. "That's it. When I return, I will ask my brother not to send you into a dangerous mission again."

"Good," Yang Yun nodded. He then pulled her back into his embrace. "Don't worry. Your brother will not send me away to a dangerous mission. Because of my recklessness, your brother had suspended me from the team," Yang Yun said. However, he did not tell her that Jiang Xiao Xian had agreed to reinstate his position.

Mingyue pulled away from him again. "So you do know that you're reckless! But how can Elder Brother suspended you?" Mingyue frowned. She had spent a long time with Yang Yun to know how much he liked his job as an Elite member of the team. "When I get back, I will make my brother reinstate your position.

Yang Yun stared at his wife with helplessness. So, in the end, did she wanted him to continue going to a mission or not?
