Chapter 15 – Cousin (2)
It was then when Zhong Yuhuan finally turned and slowly looked this cousin up and down.
Lang Jinzhi looked to be about 24 to 25, but already have that authoritative look to him.
He had on classic business suit and a golden, wired-frame spectacles. Under his handsome brows was a sharp and indifferent feel.
No wonder the original owner was intimidated by him. The cousin just exuded the air of “I am difficult to get along”!
Lang Jinzhi had noticed Zhong Yuhuan looking him up and down
He couldn’t help but looked over at her and saw her looking at him. Her eyes have a little sparks and looked like two stars in the night sky.
She was almost … a little cute.
Lang Jinzhi had never seen this look on her before.
Could it be that she had ran into enough hardships that had finally softened her up a little?
Whether that was the reason or not, the way that Lang Jinzhi looked at her had softened. She was his cousin after all, and they were related by blood.
To avoid the awkward air in the car, Lang Jinzhi started talking to her, “Grandpa is already waiting at the mansion.”
“Mm,” Zhong Yuhuan nodded and said softly, “I miss grandpa already.”
After hearing that, Lang Jinzhi’s look softened up even more and said, “And grandpa misses you too.”
“Have I lived in the Yue Lan Mansion before?” asked Zhong Yuhuan.
“Yes, when you were very little, aunty had brought you here and spent a few nights there.” Lang Jinzhi paused and continued, “Now, not even grandpa lives there anymore. Ever since aunty was gone, grandpa didn’t want to be reminded of her so he moved away to a different location.”
Zhong Yuhuan fell silent.
After that, Lang JInzhi did not talk again until he had parked and the two of them got out of the car.
Lang Jinzhi took her stuff out from the trunk and said to her, “I’ll carry this for you.”
Zhong Yuhuan finally looked up and responded with a “Mm.”
Lang Jinzhi paused.
There was a hint of tears in her eyes. It was obvious that she had already cried a bit in the car.
Was it because of what he said?
Looking at her like that, Lang Jinzhi couldn’t help but lifted his hand and stroked her hair awkwardly and said, “Don’t cry. Grandpa will be even more sad if he sees that.”
Zhong Yuhuan nodded and rubbed her eyes with her hand. Her eyes looked even redden after she had rubbed them.
She looked very pitiful.
Lang Jinzhi didn’t know what to do or say.
He started to think that perhaps the way she was strong, stubborn, and offensive before was just her way to protect herself being in an environment that she was in.
And he was finally seeing the real her.
A maid heard them right then and came out with a slight jog, “Young Master Lang.”
After that, the maid looked at Zhong Yuhuan with uncertainty and finally said with a doubtful tone, “Miss Zhong.”
“Let’s go inside,” Lang Jinzhi thought about it for a second and switch the bag he was holding in his right hand to his other hand, then held her hand with his right one.
Zhong Yuhuan did not break free of her hand but just followed him in.
The man inside the mansion was stunned by her appearance.
“Huanhuan,” came a deep, low voice.
Zhong Yuhuan looked up.
She saw a skinny, old man in a traditional garb looking at her intently and opened up his arms at her.
Zhong Yuhuan recognized him.
“Grandpa,” she said softly.
Grandpa Ding walked over to her and threw his arms around her.
“Huanhuan had grew taller … taller ….”
Lang Jinzhi finally let go of Zhong Yuhuan’s hand and stood to one said.
“Let’s have dinner,” he said.
“Yes, we should eat first.” Grandpa Ding finally her out of his arms.
Grandpa Ding did not have a look of a gentle, loving old man. His features were prominent, even when he was just sitting, exuded authoritativeness.
But when he looked at Zhong Yuhuan, the complicated look in his eyes were mixed with tenderness and carefulness.
