Chapter 69 – Ming-ge ge (2)
Halfway through the meal, Li Jinyuan stood up and went to the bathroom.
He was gone for a long time without returning.
Finally, Zhong Yuhuan put down the spoon in her hands. Frowning, she asked, “What’s happening? Why was he gone for so long?”
There was still racism overseas.
Zhong Yuhuan worried that was what Li Jinyuan had run into.
Standing up, she said, “I will go look for him.”
“I’ll go with you,” said Huo Chengming when they saw that Li Jinyuan had returned.
Zhong Yuhuan looked up and asked, “How come you were gone for so long?”
Li Jinyuan was holding a business card in his hand and said as if in a trance, “I just ran into a strange Chinese man.”
“Eh?” Zhong Yuhuan took the business card from him and took a look. The printed words said “Vianager”…. with a phone number behind it.
Zhong Yuhuan had it figured out right away, “….. Mmm, a scout? What did he want from you?”
Li Jinyuan said in a low voice, “He asked me to be a model for a set of photo shoot.”
By now, Huo Chengming and Li Jinyuan had undergone another growth spurt and was even taller than they were a little while ago.
A boy their age was more or less fully grown, and their body shape fully formed.
It wasn’t surprising that someone would invite Li Jinyuan to be a model.
It was just odd that this part didn’t seem to exist in the original novel.
Zhong Yuhuan didn’t get hung up too much on that. After all, a lot of details were not mentioned in the original novel. She said to Li Jinyuan, “You can give that a try, but you have to hurry. School is about to start.”
Li Jinyuan nodded. His smile seemed to have brightened some more.
Huo Chengming, on the other hand, had lowered his head, seemingly deep in thought.
The very next day, they all went to school to complete the registration for school and the dormitory.
Chloe left after the process was completed.
Zhong Yuhuan gave Li Jinyuan’s friend, who was working in Birmingham, a call. His surname was Chen, Chen Mingye, and he was a Chinese who had been working overseas for years.
As soon as Chen Mingye received her call, he went over to London right away.
It was Zhong Yuhuan’s hope for Li Jinyuan to broaden his horizon. As much as she was an adult on the inside, she was still a minor on the outside. She didn’t want all of them to be taken advantage of. It would be much better to have an adult with them, and a local at that.
Chen Mingye was going to meet up with them on Wood Avenue.
While the three of them were waiting at the street corner, a silver Ashton Martin drove up and slowly stopped in front of them.
The car door opened and a young man in a printed suit got out. He didn’t not look anywhere as mature as his name has suggested; this man looked like a textbook player.
“So this is Cousin Zhong?” giggled the man, sounding very friendly.
Zhong Yuhuan nodded and introduced Huo Chengming and Li Jinyuan.
Smiling, Chen Mingye greeted the two of them one after another and had them get into his car. Once they have gotten inside of his car, they saw a young woman sitting in the passenger seat. She had on a power suit and looked to be Cheng Mingye’s secretary.
“So, you want to go to Victor?” smiled Chen Mingye, “We will take you there right now. I have already done some research on this company. Their specialty is to identify young male model; they don’t work with anyone older. But they are very good at training and introducing young models. Any models who joined their company will have the opportunities for photo shoots, catwalks, shows, magazine covers…. You name it.”
Zhong Yuhuan nodded, “Thank you so much for your help.”
“Don’t mention it. Aren’t you Li Jinyuan’s cousin? You can refer to me as ge ge too! I don’t even have a sister!” chuckled Chen Mingye.
