Chapter 21 Let’s Go and Pick Grandmother Up
Meanwhile, Mo He arrived at his office. When the company’s committee members saw him, they immediately quieted down.
Mo He entered the office with a cold expression while Liao Chen followed behind him and closed the office door tightly. The committee members gathered and discussed in whispers.
“Did you know that Mr. Mo didn’t come in because he was sick? Now he’s back with an even colder expression,” an older employee said lowly.
“Mr. Mo probably hasn’t fully recovered yet,” a younger employee clicked his tongue and sighed. “I thought Mr. Mo had a healthy body and would never get sick,” a new employee, Xiao Yao, said as she curled her lips into a smile.
“Considering how Assistant Liao looked just now, I feel this is the calm before the storm.” An older employee revealed a worried expression.
“But I heard Mr. Mo has some good news.”
“Oh, please. Does Mr. Mo look like he has good news?”
“You’re right. He looks dissatisfied.”
Some staff members gathered and chattered, but they didn’t notice someone listening to their conversation in the corridor. The person eavesdropped for a long while before walking forward.
Xiao Yao saw the person and immediately stood up. “Miss Qiu!”
The other two flinched and stood up, not daring to make a sound. Qiu Xin looked at the three with a cold demeanor. “It looks like you three have enough time to badmouth your boss during office hours.”
“M-Miss Qiu, we weren’t…” The more experienced employee tried to explain himself.
“What are you trying to say? Do you think there’s something wrong with my hearing? Did I misunderstand you?” Qiu Xin bluntly interrupted.
The employee shut his mouth and retreated as he stood still. Xiao Yao glanced at the two employees and stepped forward. She said, “Let me open the door for you, Miss Qiu.” She gently knocked on the office door twice as she spoke.
Liao Chen enquired from inside the office, “What is it?”
Xiao Yao gently opened the door slightly and poked her head between the crack. “Assistant Liao, Miss Qiu is here.”
Liao Chen glanced at Mo He and approached the office door to open it. Qiu Xin walked past Xiao Yao and Liao Chen toward Mo He’s desk.
The office door closed as Xiao Yao patted her chest while heaving a sigh of relief. She looked at the other two employees, and the three shook their heads in unison.
Miss Qiu was Mr. Mo’s most frequent visitor at the office. There was no place Miss Qiu couldn’t go at Mo Incorporated, and no one dared to offend her. Since Mr. Mo doted on Miss Qiu so much, everyone thought there would be news of them getting married one day. The employees of Mo Incorporated treated Miss Qiu as Mr. Mo’s wife. Especially the three employees from before.
The three employees had special statuses at Mo Incorporated. They were secretariats. Although they would occasionally take advantage of their positions, they kept Mr. Mo’s secrets to themselves.
The only person they didn’t know much about was Miss Qiu. Although the trio knew that Miss Qui had gone to the Mo family when Mr. Mo was injured, they were clueless about the relationship between the two.
“What are you doing here?” Mo He looked at Qiu Xin coldly as he sat on his office chair.
When Qiu Xin heard Mo He’s icy tone, she immediately revealed a pitiful expression. “Mo He, aren’t you glad that I came looking for you?”
Mo He discreetly gritted his teeth and switched to a calmer tone when he heard Qiu Xin’s words. “Do you have something to discuss with me?”
Qiu Xin walked to Mo He’s side, looking like she was about to cry. “I said that I would pick Grandmother up, but she seemed worried about me and told me to wait at home.”
“Just listen to what Grandmother says,” Mo He replied expressionlessly.
Qiu Xin bit her lower lip and continued, “B-But Grandmother traveled all this way. How could she not want someone to pick her up from the airport? Maybe you could come with me to pick Grandmother up.” Qiu Xin reached out and grabbed Mo He’s sleeve.
“Grandmother must have her reasons for telling you to stay home,” Mo He gently raised his arm and avoided Qiu Xin’s grasp.
Qiu Xin was about to reach for Mo He again when Liao Chen walked over. “Mr. Mo, the video conference is ready.” Liao Chen’s voice stopped Qiu Xin from speaking.
Qiu Xin secretly gritted her teeth, but she knew she couldn’t delay Mo He’s work. A disappointed expression appeared on her face, then she said to Mo He, “I shall take my leave since you’re busy.”
“All right,” Mo He replied briefly, almost ignoring Qiu Xin entirely.
