Xia Yan stood rooted to the spot, staring at Mo He. Mo He lowered his eyes, still looking at Xia Yan solemnly as Mo Pei stood on the sidelines, quietly swallowing his saliva.

Mo Pei knew that these two were currently husband and wife. But looking at their hostile attitude, they looked like they had been sworn enemies for generations.

Mo Pei was about to speak, but Xia Yan suddenly stopped him, “If it’s not convenient for me to see Old Madam Mo, I’ll take my leave.”

After Xia Yan said that, she turned around and left. Mo Pei was stunned and hurriedly followed her. Mo He watched as the two rushed into the elevator and secretly clenched his fists.

When Xia Yan and Mo Pei exited the hospital, Mo Pei had a pleading expression on his face. “Xia Yan, it’s all my fault. Mo He must not have slept the entire night. That’s why he’s so bad-tempered. How about I send you home?”

Mo Pei looked at Xia Yan’s silent expression and could not help but feel a little worried.

Xia Yan turned her head to look at Mo Pei. “There’s no need. I have other matters to attend to. Go ahead without me.”

After Xia Yan finished speaking, she turned around and walked back into the hospital. Mo Pei’s hand froze in mid-air. After pondering, he sighed and turned around to leave.

Xia Yan walked quickly into the hospital and called for the elevator. When she entered, Xia Yan crossed her arms. She was fuming. ‘Mo He simply doesn’t know what was good for him.’

Xia Yan was worried that Mo He hadn’t slept well last night. Seeing that he was in good spirits, she felt more at ease.

‘This fellow is being so rude!’ Xia Yan thought and stomped her feet. The elevator shook as Xia Yan jumped in fright and quickly held the railing beside her. She gritted her teeth and blamed Mo He for this scare.

Walking out of the elevator, Xia Yan circled the corridor of the fourth-floor inpatient ward and walked to Old Madam Mo’s ward.

Mo He stood by the railing, taking a breather, when he saw Xia Yan walking around the hospital. He frowned and thought to himself, ‘What is this woman up to this time?’

He was about to order Liao Chen to chase Xia Yan out of the hospital when he saw a male doctor standing in front of Xia Yan. She stood where she was and started talking to the doctor.

Mo He was upstairs and couldn’t hear what they were talking about. He could only see the doctor’s back and couldn’t recognize the man. Mo He picked up the phone and contacted Liao Chen.

“Liao Chen, go find out the doctor’s name who is talking to Xia Yan.” After hanging up the phone, Mo He’s gaze lingered on Xia Yan and the doctor before turning around and leaving abruptly.

“Doctor Fang, please step aside if there’s nothing else you want to talk to me about.” Xia Yan glared at Fang Yao, who was blocking her way. Fang Yao’s expression darkened. “You’ve been coming to the hospital a lot recently. Are you worried about me treating your grandma, or do you have other plans?”

“Doctor Fang, your words amuse me,” Xia Yan sneered and stared at Fang Yao. “My grandma is currently hospitalized. Can’t I come to see her often? Do you think I’m interested in another doctor and here to curry his favor? Or do you think that person is you, Doctor Fang?”

Hearing Xia Yan’s sarcastic tone, Fang Yao gritted his teeth. “I advise you to behave yourself and not cause trouble for Xia Rou.”

Upon hearing Fang Yao mention Xia Rou, Xia Yan gritted her teeth. However, she hoped that Fang Yao would continue treating her grandma. Although they hated each other, Xia Yan did not dare offend Fang Yao too much. She chuckled through her mask. “Doctor Fang, this reminder is a little strange. I wonder what your relationship with Xia Rou is like now that you can speak for her.”

When Fang Yao heard Xia Yan’s words, his expression became even more unsightly. There wasn’t a romantic relationship between him and Xia Rou. He only wanted to speak for Xia Rou. Neither could he act weak in front of Xia Yan.

Fang Yao took a deep breath and continued, “I’m giving you advice with good intentions. Don’t cause trouble for your grandma.”

Hearing Fang Yao mention her grandma, Xia Yan subconsciously became alert. Doctors were like parents, and she didn’t believe that Fang Yao would hurt her grandmother because of Xia Rou.

But judging from Fang Yao’s actions, it was likely that he would refuse to treat Grandma again. Right now, Fang Yao was the only person in the country who could treat Xia Yan’s grandma. Even if they took her overseas for treatment, there would be a massive drawback due to the scheduling problem for the surgery.

Xia Yan counseled herself. There was no point in being calculative with a man in love.
