Chapter 24 The Ashes Were Thrown Into The River
The sky darkened.
When night came, Fu Beiting finally awoke. He opened his eyes and looked at the white ceiling above him. Dazed, he felt like he was in a dream.
“President Fu, you’re awake?” Auntie Zhang came in with medicine and ran over in surprise when she saw that Fu Beiting was awake.
Fu Beiting turned his head and muttered, “Where’s Xiangwan? Why isn’t she here?”
Auntie Zhang’s expression froze and stood there helplessly.
“Where is she?!” Fu Beiting suddenly flew into a rage. He grabbed the glass on the table and smashed it on the ground. “Get Qin Xiangwan to brew medicine for me. She’s my wife, why isn’t she coming over!”
The glass hit the ground with a crisp sound and shattered into pieces.
No one in the room dared to make a sound.
The butler, who had followed Auntie Zhang in, looked at her and stepped forward with a smile. “President Fu, Madam… she has already left,” he said gently.
“Left? Where did she go?” Fu Beiting roared. There was a hint of madness in his bloodshot eyes. “Qin Xiangwan is not allowed to go anywhere without my permission! If she dares to run away, I’ll break her legs!”
The butler panicked. “President Fu, Madam passed away last night.”
His words seemed to have hit Fu Beiting’s weak spot.
He froze, the muscles on his face twitching as he panted heavily.
He looked so terrifying that even the nurse did not dare to go near him.
“She’s dead?” Fu Beiting turned around slowly and looked at the butler with empty eyes.
He seemed to be asking the butler, and also himself.
The butler dared not answer.
Fu Beiting took a few deep breaths and felt the pain deep in his heart return.
He remembered…
Qin Xiangwan passed away just last night. The place where he was staying now was the ward where Qin Xiangwan stayed, and the bed was where she used to sleep.
Fu Beiting’s fingers dug into the blanket as he felt an unprecedented difficulty in breathing.
The bright sunlight shone into the ward. Other than the butler and Auntie Zhang, there were a few other medical staff in the room, but the entire room was extremely quiet. No one dared to speak, afraid that they would anger the mad President Fu.
After a long while, Fu Beiting calmed down and asked in a deep and hoarse voice. “Where is her body? I want to… I want to see
her.”
“The Qin family came yesterday and cremated her body.” Fu Beiting was silent for a second and suddenly shouted, “Who allowed you to give her body to the Qin family?”.
His furious roar shook everyone’s eardrums, and the dust on the ceiling rustled.
Even the glass of water on the table started to ripple.
The butler had been in the Fu family for decades and had never seen Fu Beiting so furious before. He was so flustered that he lost his balance and fell to the ground. “It’s… it’s the Qin family. They said that you didn’t like Qin Xiangwan. They didn’t want her body to be an eyesore to you, so they brought her back to deal with her.”
Fu Beiting’s fierce gaze swept across the crowd. He wanted to lose his temper, but he couldn’t find a way to vent his anger. It was as if a stone was pressing on his chest, suffocating him.
That’s right, his hatred for her was so obvious. Everyone knew that he hated Qin Xiangwan, including the Qin family.
He shut his eyes and said in a low voice, “Find the Qin family. Pay them some money and bring Xiangwan’s ashes back.”
He seemed to have used up all his strength to say the last sentence.
The woman he once hated had turned into a pile of ashes, just like that, without leaving a single word for him.
The room was silent for a while before the butler’s trembling voice began.
“Madam’s ashes… have already been thrown into the river by the Qin family.”
“What!!” Fu Beiting looked up suddenly, his eyes burning with fury.
