15 Class change?

Name:Age Of Gods Author:trickywolf
Why I didn't make a bigger hole? I have no idea. Maybe I thought that this one should be enough or that it would take a lot of time to make a bigger one. Proper answer was that I didn't think about it. I thought that I could fight two of them at the same time and that is why I made one trap only enough for one of them to fall in. And bigger one would need more time for sure.

It turned out differently, boar also fell in for some time. Either way, it was already over.

First I should see my level. I gained a lot of EXP today. Let's see... The wolf that died from the trap was level 7 that means 3000 EXP points. What? 1000 EXP points? How is this possible? I got only a third of the usual EXP gain. Last time I killed level 7 Rage Beast wolf I gained 3000.

Could it be? No way, it can't be. The system might have calculated the damage and the role I played in killing it and found that this is my contribution. That means that the main protagonist was the boar. I can't believe it.

Well, what can I do now? At least I raised the level anyway. The other wolf was also level 7 so that is another 3000 EXP and with the level 6 Boar I got 2000 more EXP and with that, I am level 7 now. For the next level, I will need two or three more of them. This fact makes me dizzy.

Now the only thing left was to move them to the village. Seeing that there are three of them I put 10 points from level up in strength. Now it should be easier to pull them back even with my injury. I undid the rope from the trees, packed my things and started thinking how to move the wolf from the trap.

There is no way for me to go down and then up with the wolf. I could only try to somehow position the rope, and then pull it out. I slowly entered the trap, not because of the wooden stakes, but because of my injury. I put the rope around the wolf. climbed out the trap and started pulling.

It was an excruciating experience. I did manage to pull it out but with every move, my rib hurt like it was on fire. I once more put some herbs on it to cool it down. Now the only thing left to do was to move three bodies in the same place tie them with rope and to go back.

It wasn't that hard tying them together, but the hard part started from there. Thank Perun and Perperuna for nice weather today, otherwise, I wouldn't be able to come back to the village with my catch today. Seeing me return guards helped me bringing them to the chief. There were a few players also here. They were all in awe seeing me coming back with these beasts. Some of them asked me where I hunted them. I didn't see anything bad in telling them, so I did. I also told them to be careful, in case they are more of them. Some already run up the mountain while some started making plans for tomorrow.

When I made to the chief's place, after arranging the bodies I asked chief about my injury and if there is someone who can fix it. He told me that he can do it himself and asked me to enter his house. I thanked him and followed him in.

When I entered I looked around the house. There were maybe two or three rooms inside. As far as I could see. First room and probably the biggest was a dining room. There weren't many things inside. Some farming tools, axes. one small one big, in one corner tools for eating, wooden bowls, and cutlery, and metal knives for daily use.

In the middle of the room, there was a big house hearthstone. Above it on the roof was an opening for the smoke to exit. By this hearthstone, families got together to eat, make prayers and worship ancestors. In the Slavic culture hearthstones were a center of the house in a material and spiritual sense.

I saw a couple of openings in the walls of the house which led to different rooms. We entered one of them and the chief said to me to lie down. This room wasn't any richer than the main room. In here there was only one straw bed enough for two people to sleep in, and several personal items.

I lied down and removed my vest and shirt so that the chief can fix my rib. I told him where it hurts and he put his hand on it.

, Ufgh"I made a muffled painful sound.

, Its good you came as soon as possible", said chief as he touched the area around my cracked rib, If you waited a little more or made any irregular moves with your body you could have pierced one off your lungs."

Wow, I thought to myself, that would be really awful. With all the moving during the fight and going back to the village, I guess I was really lucky. I didn't bleed and my health didn't drop but with one pierced lung I don't think I could have made it to the village, not with my catch at least.

While I thought about possibilities, chief started the treatment. The only thing I saw was he moving his hands over my rib putting it in its place, or I felt it, to be precise. I almost fainted when he put it back. Almost is the crucial word. I wanted to get up but he told me to lie down and rest more. He crushed and mixed some herbs and spread the mix over my injured place. I couldn't help but ask him:

, Chief, thank you, do you have a lot of experience putting bones together?"

, Haha", laughed chief, You could say that Whenever there is someone hurt they come to me or Donar's wife. After all, we are the only two herbalists in the village."

, Chief, you are a herbalist?" I assumed that Donar's wife was one because I was gathering the herbs for her, but I didn't know that the chief is also one.

, Yes I am, I learned herbalism from my predecessor. One of the requirements for being the village chief is to be a herbalist. But I usually just fix bones, since Donar's wife became a herbalist. Village chief doesn't need to treat people just to know how to do it. After all being a village chief comes with other responsibilities."

, Chief what do you need to do to become a herbalist? Can I become one?" I asked hopefully. Becoming a herbalist will help a lot in the future. I don't know much about herbs, but being a blacksmith or leatherworker isn't my plan. In games including the combat classes, there are also production classes. I thought that if there are production classes in the Age of Gods I could probably go for being a herbalist.

There is an option which many players in previous games knew about, and that this to only raise their production classes. I don't think that is possible here. Players like that wouldn't have any strength to protect themselves, at least not in the early stages of the game. Pairing one combat with one production class should be useful in the long run. Players need to find a way to get combat classes before thinking of pairing two together.

, Anyone can become a herbalist. If you want I can teach you tomorrow. After all, you did a lot for the village. Rest here for the night and in the morning we will begin"

I could only thank the chief before he exited the room. I lied down and slowly fell asleep. I woke up a couple hours later and found out that you can indeed sleep in the game. I logged out the game put the helmet away and continued the sleep on my bed.

Since it was Sunday I slept longer than usual. That fight sure tired me out. After breakfast, I checked the forums to see if there is anything new, and then I tried to think what should I reward my students with. At first, I thought that I should raise their grades by one, but I soon removed that idea from my head.

Thinking about the game I could only try to give them some advice which could help them. Remembering chiefs words about how all the village chiefs are herbalists, I thought that this could be good advice. If some of them want to be herbalists or to find some clue to other production classes, having a good reputation with the village chief should be one step closer.

After lunch, I entered the game anxious to gain my first production class.

I woke up in the village chief house. My wound was all healed and I didn't feel any discomfort. When I walked out of the room I saw chief by the hearthstone, making breakfast.

, Come, young man, join me for a meal." he said.

, Thank you chief, when will you teach me?" I asked

, Patience my young friend, we have time. Fieldwork is done and the villagers are doing their other jobs. I don't have anything until tomorrow, by the time the merchant comes, so I will teach you all day today about herbalism. Not everything can be taught in a moment."

, Okay, chief I will listen to you today."

After breakfast chief began his lesson. A lesson may be a big word more like teachings. He was telling me everything about herbs and other materials that could be paired with them, like mushrooms and animal bones or blood.

He showed me some of the materials he used in herbal medicine, but because he slowed down making herbs and concentrated on fixing bones he talked about that also. Herbalist doesn't just make medicine they also need to know about human bodies. After almost three hours I learned one skill.

Bone Mending

Active Skill

Beginner Level 0 0%

A skill most of the herbalists know used to mend or fix broken bones

Requirement: Needs extensive knowledge about the human body

This skill may look naive in a sense but after the fight, it could be very useful if there are some problems with broken bones, not just for me, but for my comrades as well when we fight together. Still, I will need a lot of practice to make this skill applicable in that kind of situations.

After that, we went outside the village where the chief showed me all kinds of herbs and grasses and told me about their application. He told me which herb is used for what kind of sickness or wounds and also how to make a different kind of mixtures. Walking around the village and get to know a different kind of herbs earned me another skill.

Herb Appraising

Active Skill

Beginner Level 0 1,5%

Most common herbs are easy to spot in the wild

It would seem that if I want to spot rarer herbs I will need to raise the level of this skill. Rare herbs or any kind of material are difficult to spot or to actually know where to find them or in what situation to use them.

, Now I am going to show you how to make mixtures and medicines out of herbs. We are passing to the practical part of the lesson. Let's go back to my house." said chief and we returned back to the village.

Finally, I thought to myself, I am going to become a herbalist. When we came back chief taught me the most simple medicine for the open wounds and stopping the bleeding. He used herbs already familiar to me, and after showing me once he let me try it. He gave me the tools and the herbs, told me everything I need to do and my only job was to follow his instructions.

After I finished I finally heard a notification in my head and chiefs voice beside me.

, My young friend now you are a herbalist."

, Congratulations, you become the Beginner Herbalist"

, Thanks chief, for your teachings." I thanked the chief and finally relaxed.
