Although everyone had crashed somewhere or the other, Catherine sat up on her bed leaning against the headboard with Samuel sleeping like the dead beside her.
Ever since the warehouse every time she slept or closed eyes or merely blinked she saw herself years back. Lying on the floor covered in a pool of her blood not sure whether it was the one from her head on lower. The voice of the doctor when he told her she had lost her child echoed in her head overlapping each other.
She needed a distraction and the only other project she was looking into had hit a wall.
A year ago just before Katie birthday, Catherine had overhead her parents talking about having another child and she thought it was just harmless conversation until her father said.
"How do you expect us to get another child." Father Ning said.
"The same way we had those other children." Mother Ning said her voice havinga hint of the screeching sound Catherine hated so much.

"Don't be so stupid, Mary can't have another child. She'll die." Father Ning said causing mother Ning to walk away in a fit of rage.
'Mary?' Catherine thought that wasn't the name of their mother. 'who the hell was mary.'
Her curious ways lead to dig into the matter which lead to her doing a DNA test with her parents, she was a match with her dad but not her so caly mom.
'that explains why she hates me so much.' she thought. Although she thought James was definitely their mother's child she till did a test on him as well and the results came out same as hers.
Ever since then she had been digging but couldn't find anything relating to this 'Mary'.
As she Catherine battles with keeping her eyes open the screen of her phone lit up as it danced across the bedside table.
Seeing it was Liam she hurriedly answered he never called unless it was urgent.
"Boss big news, I have somethings to show you. When will you be at work tomorrow?" Liam asked excitedly.
"I'm not sure just be around and I'll let you know. I hope what you have is good.?
After the call ended, Catherine got up from the bed and dragged her exhausted body to the kitchen where surprisingly she met Nathan nursing a bottle of Scotch.
"Do I want to know why you are awake?" Catherine asked getting a glass for herself and pouring herself a glass of Scotch.
"No! Do I want to know why you are awake?" Nathan said throwing the question back at Catherine.
"No! Then I guess we can drink in silence." Catherine said lifting her cup.
"Perfect!" Nathan replied and they but drank their drinks.
"My father wants to sell the company." Nathan said quietly almost as if he dreaded saying it out loud.
"I know, it's kind of the thing you hear about in our circle." Catherine said sympathetically.
"I don't get it, I've worked so hard but he still thinks I'm useless." Nathan said slumping further into his chair.
"I can definitely relate with the whole parent hating thing. So what are you going to do about?" Catherine asked.
"What can I do? I thought of buying but I could never afford to buy even if I sold my soul and I certainly can't beg." Nathan said as he continued drinking.
Rolling her eyes "can't or won't. That's your damn problem, you find out I run a multi billion dollar company for Christ sake. Why not ask me for help? Have I ever hurt your pride? I knew what was going on but I wanted to see if you would let your pride destroy you." Catherine spoke with a lot of anger which admittedly Nathan deserved but it was mostly that anger she felt inside lashing out.
"Catherine... I'm sorry. You are right, but if you will help it has to be done right."
"Fine call my assistant and set up a meeting." Catherine walked out after that not wanting to lash out more at poor Nathan.
She went to the lake, seating on the floor hugging her knees until she felt someone kneel and hug her from behind.
"Liar!" Samuel said with a slightly hung over voice. "You told me you were fine but I knew you weren't, but you don't have to talk about we can just stare at the lake."
Catherine hadn't noticed the sun come up until she felt Samuel behind her, registering his words Catherine fought the tears that threatened to fall out. They sat without noise just peace.
