It was day when she woke up from her sleep.
Lin Xue continued digging a staircase upwards. Luckily she was still in plains and not a lake of some kind, otherwise her cave would be flooded.
She continued wandering, cutting down trees, killing sheep, digging out things here and there.
The viewers were quite enjoying the show as many made fun of what she was doing.
“Is Xue preparing to bury herself again?”
“Grave Robbing the fifth: Xue’s Tomb.[1]”
“Hahaha, Xue was chased by the skeleton for so long last night she was going to cry.”
“Isn’t this a building game? Why does it feel like a horror game?”
“Didn’t she go through the tutorial? Why does she look completely clueless still? LOL”
But some viewers had some questions.
“Why does this game Xue’s playing right now feel completely different to Chen Mo’s advertisements?”
“Yeah, Chen Mo built the entire Forbidden City, but Xue only dug a hole this whole time she had been playing the game?”
“Build a house, Xue! We want to see some buildings!”
“Yeah, just start simple by building a castle!”
Lin Xue was getting a bit bothered by this, “Could you guys be more reasonable? I need to worry about my survival first!”
Lin Xue was also a bit confused. The game didn’t feel this difficult before. How come mobs show up in the dark. Not only do they attack, they make scary noises too! And it’s extremely scary when it’s pitch black during night in VR!
“Alright, we’ll leave survival mode at this for now. I see many want to watch me build houses right? I’ll do that in creative mode!”
Lin Xue walked into the singleplayer hut in the main menu once again. But this time she chose creative mode and set it so it was perpetually day.
Lin Xue spawned in another world. It was similar to her previous world, but this time she had access to every block in the game and could fly.
“Huh? I can fly!”
Lin Xue was really enjoying the flight. She had a set of silver wings behind her and could fly freely in the sky.
After exploring from a bird’s eye view, Lin Xue found a hill that looked to be to her liking.
“Alright, we’ll build our house here. There’s a hill behind us as water in front of us. This is where my mansion will be!”
Lin Xue was really determined to give it everything she had.
First was flattening the terrain. She flattened out a huge chunk of land close to the hell and started laying down the foundations, setting down the outlines to her house.
She built a rectangular area using stone.
Then she laid down a support beam from the mountain.
Lin Xue even made sure that the beam was properly centered to satisfy her OCD needs.
“Yep, this beam is placed perfectly. Alright! Can you guys stop spamming ‘Armstrong cannon’ or whatever? It’s just a beam!
“Alright, next we’ll lay down the foundations of the house. I’ll use wood and stone, doesn’t that look great?”
Although it sounded great on paper, Lin Xue was just placing down dirt and stone as the roof of her house.
“Stop saying it looks ugly. It’s just the foundation, how good can the foundation look?
“I want to make a nice chinese style roof, the type with eaves that slopes down from the middle. Look at the beam I placed before, that’ll be the highest point of the house.
“Next… We’ll build the two walls. They say ‘A house is at least four walls’, I don’t even have four walls yet.
Lin Xue had three metre high walls on both sides, and punched a few holes for the windows.
Next, Lin Xue started building the roof. The highest point of the house was the beam in the middle, sloping down towards the side. That was how she built her clumsy roof.
“Yep, the Chinese style roof is already quite obvious other than the fact that it’s a bit ugly. Geez, stop saying it’s ugly, I’ll beautify it later.
And with a bit more dirt, she called the roof complete.
But from afar, Lin Xue’s idea of ‘Beautiful Chinese style roof’ wasn’t there as it looked like a huge tombstone instead.
The chat was already going wild.
“It looks more and more like a tomb!”
“Are you afraid that grass is going to grow on your tomb once it rains? Hahaha”
“Xue, I thought you said you were building it out of wood and stone, why is it all dirt? It looks exactly like a tomb!”
“There’s a few holes too, are those made by raiders?”
“Just give up, Xue. Your house is hideous! You have no talent!”
“I heard you live in the Imperial Capital, Xue. Do you live in Princess Tomb[2]?
Lin Xue cleared her throat, “This is art, you guys just don’t understand! Not everybody can understand the meaning behind art. These must be slowly taken in and enjoyed, I’ll give you guys some time to do that.
“Huh, turns out I was using dirt to build my house. My goodness, I just picked a block and didn’t notice! Don’t worry, since the foundations are already there, I’ll just swap out the dirt for wood.
“Don’t worry, it’ll lose its tomb look after all the dirt is gone!”
The chat didn’t care at all.
“Is this where they are filming the new movie?”
“It looks like a tomb no matter what, there’s even a platform for the dead.”
“Xue, I’ll be raiding once you’re done. Remember to leave some valuables behind.”
Lin Xue continued to swap out all the dirt for wood.
The house looked much more like a house after swapping out the dirt for wood.
One problem was that it was huge as it stood at nearly ten metres. It was also similar in width with a completely empty interior.
Lin Xue said, “Don’t worry, I’ll put a torch inside the house.
Lin Xue placed a torch onto the wall, one in the front and one in the back, and one in each of the corners. The interior was now brightly lit.
“Nice!” Lin Xue nodded, full of herself as she looked at the huge row of torches.
This got the chat riled up again.
“It wasn’t that bad before, but now it looks like a funeral hall!”
“My goodness, isn’t opening up windows the first reaction to a dark room, why did she use torches?”
“Hahaha, I think Xue is still in the mindset of digging holes. She confused this with her tomb!”
“It’s actually a tomb!”
TL note: [1] They referenced a real chinese movie titled Kong Fu Youth, but obviously wouldn’t work as well.
[2] Like an area name, exists in real life too Gongzhufen (公主坟).
