Realizing that the country's situation was very different, Zhao Yao decided to check the American internet.
As he came out of China illegally, he did not apply for international roaming. Fortunately, he found a notebook computer that was left opened without access code. He browsed the internet to look for news on the American supernatural realm.
He was overjoyed as the information on supercats and apostles were much more than he expected.
In China, supercats news were relegated to minor news.
The American government did not acknowledge superpowers, however, news was not prohibited. During the year of the Awakening, the Star Cats fought against the Army. Then Project X fought against the military. All this supercat news was rampant on the internet.
Various social media websites, live stream, and video platforms were filled with countless information about supercats.
In China, supercats were urban legends. Commoners heard of supercats, half of them had seen one and only a small portion knew very well.
The American public was aware of supercat news but a majority did not believe such news. Only a small portion chose to believe.
Many supercats became internet sensations by using their superpower and good looks to garner more fame and resources.
A portion of the Americans thought that supercats were the gimmicks of the Hollywood industry, supported by their teams of celebrity cats.
Some Americans believed that supercats were new age cults, which were bluffing.
Some Americans witnessed superpowers and strongly believed in their existence. This was the largest growing group.
Humans only believed in what they saw or what they chose to believe. A large portion of the people saw videos of supercats. However, the supercats were out of their understanding, hence they were suspicious of supercats.
Zhao Yao understood that supercats news were more developed in American society as compared to China's.
A lot of supercats had assimilated into American society. As the numbers increased, it created a greater acceptance of them in society. Months, perhaps a year later, the general public would officially acknowledge supercats' existence and they would be part of the American society.
The winds of change would blow across the globe. Supercats' status in China would change drastically and it was anybody's guess what Uncle Ho and the government planned to do.
"It shouldn't be much of a problem. The integration of the Chinese supercats was not as fast as the American supercats but many Chinese people were aware of the supercats. Even if the government officially acknowledges supercats, it shouldn't cause much upheaval."
Since the Awakening of superpowers, Zhao Yao understood that news concerning supercats had gradually filled the minds of the people. A majority of the people on Earth were prepared for the acceptance of supercats so it wouldn't cause much disturbance.
An advanced city like Los Angeles had a lot of strong believers of supercats.
Arthas, who was mentioned by a few female cats, was the internet sensation that lived in Beverly Hills. He was one of the nine pioneers of the Star Cats.
Mission: Kidnap Celebrity Cat
Mission Objective: Kidnap one of the nine pioneers of Star Cats, Arthas
Reward: A successful kidnap is worth 5000 experience points.
Punishment: None
Seeing the new mission, Zhao Yao could not help smile. "This is a godsend. Let's look for him but before that…"
The invisible Zhao Yao went down the stairs like a stream of green smoke. He came to the back of an American Shorthair and pulled her into his cloak. Then he left the house stealthily.
The American Shorthair saw darkness and felt a powerful force. Then she came to a pitch dark location. As she was about to scream, she discovered furry bodies around her and pairs of eyes leering at her.
The American Shorthair panicked and quickly pleaded, "Who are you? I don't have a master. Nobody will pay to redeem me. My superpower is going without using the bathroom. It is useless to capture me."
"I heard you!" Ares looked at the surrounding supercats and said, "Everyone, if there are no objections, I'll interrogate her."
For the trip to America, as Roly Poly lost his intelligence and Matcha was not suited to mixed fighting, so they were not brought along with Zhao Yao. The cats with the highest authority were Elizabeth and Ares.
Elizabeth nodded and said, "As you wish."
Ares looked at the American Shorthair and asked, "What's your name, female cat?"
The American Shorthair said, "I'm Mary."
Ares consoled her and said, "Mary, don't be afraid, we won't harm you. It's good news. Do you know the Headless Horseman?"
Mary shook her head. "I don't know him."
Ares sighed as she was unaware of the famous Jianghai's Headless Horseman.
Ares said, "The Headless Horseman's our boss, who owns a few hundred supercats. He's the biggest supernatural force in Jianghai. Do you want to join us?"
"Gang membership?" Mary was terrified. "I'm only an ordinary supercat. I don't mix with gang members. Please let me go."
"We're not gang members," Ares said, exasperated."We're doing business in entertainment and our boss has a huge Jianghai mall worth billions of dollars. Profit every month is about a few million."
Mary asked warily, "Are you sure?"
"Of course." Ares thought for a while and activated his Deflective Field to get his cell phone from his bag. He browsed the photographs in the cell phone to show to Mary.
Mary looked at photographs showing rows of luxurious rooms, casino tables, grand restaurants, cinemas, main hall and asked suspiciously, "Are they yours?"
Zhao Yao put a stack of US dollars into his cloak and shoved them into Mary's mouth.
"Don't say anymore. This is your salary for this month. Is it enough?"
"Enough, Enough." Mary quickly nodded when she saw the US dollars in her mouth as she was afraid that Zhao might regret his decision. "Why don't you pay me for a few months?"
Zhao Yao said to Ares and the cats telepathically, "Did you see that? You can't reason with these capitalists. Just throw money at them. They will do anything for money."
Ares frowned and thought, "As if the cats in Cat Wonderland weren't greedy for money as well."
After employing Mary, Zhao Yao bolted towards Beverly Hills. Due to his astonishing speed, distorted light rays surrounded his body making him look like a spirit. He arrived at the Beverly Hills in a short time.
