(The room became blurry as time-shifted to date unknown.)
'Where are we?' June thought. 'Where am I?'
'We are in the future. Well spiritually anyway. I was not gonna spend to much power on this.' Chroma thought. 'Almost no one can see us. So relax and observe.'
"Alright, the next challenger is the Elite Trainer Gray." The announcer said from the center of the platform as Ash walked out. He had failed at the challenge. "His opponent Cynthia of the Pokemon League."
'This setup. I know what this is!' June said excitedly.
'Oh do explain it then my dear partner.' Chroma said floating around her.
'Right.' June said.
In the area was an arena set up. One person in the center with a gauge to the side. The gauge was determined the strength of the attacks against the other person. If they could break through the barrier that one person set up it was there win.
Ash had faced off against Adler and lost. The next up was Gray according to the board and the announcer. Gray just stood there not moving.
'Why isn't he moving?' June thought. Then she noticed the people next to him. There she was looking really happy. She and another woman with lavender hair were talking to Gray trying to convince him of something. Gray just kept shaking his head. 'Why do I look so .. wide?'
'Look closer.' Chroma said.
'What.. the ... I am pregnant. But by who? I am not dating anyone. At least there is a ring on my finger. Wait is Gray the father?' She turned to Chroma who said nothing. 'Fine be that way! Where are you by the way?'
'I do not know.' Chroma said shrugging. 'I am surprised you aren't trying to figure out the other people.'
'I have no idea that one next to me is. We do look friendly at least.' June started trying to figure things out. With a shrug, she looked to the other side of Gray. 'Well, at least Sabrina is there. But she looks.. off.. I dont know why but she just does.'
Sabrina had a look as if she was deep in thought about something. She kept looking to Gray then grabbed his shoulder. What caught June's eye was the ring on her finger. It wasn't a wedding ring but an engagement ring. She felt a pain in her stomach but didnt know why.
Gray shoulders dropped and he finally walked down. He greeted Cynthia and activated his PokeSoul. He said nothing as the light engulfed him. June noticed something odd about his state. He didn't go full or used most of the transformation. His eyes had a pink-purple glow to them though. The claws formed around his hands but no wings or tail.
'He isn't using his aura. That is pure physic energy. But why?' June said.
'I have no idea. But it won't beat the raw power aura has.' Chroma said tilting her back and forth. Maybe he is conserving his power for something.'
Cynthia flexed her power and a barrier formed from her aura energy. Gray's eyes turned to slits as he smirked. Cynthia was not amused.
Gray walked forward and placed his hand against the barrier. Testing its strength.
"Bwoom, bwoom," it fluctuated against his hand.
"I see a concentrated aura with dragon energy. Mostly from the surroundings. How interesting ." Gray voice came out calm and assured of his diagnosis. "Well might as well start off light."
Gray then used Scratch. His hands just scrapped at the barrier. Nothing happened. Spreading his hands wide he came down harder using Slash. Sparks flew off this time.
"Nice try." Cynthia's voice came out disdainfully. Gray could hear something in her voice. Her Pokesoul leaking through.
Gray looked at her and smiled. Using his physic energy he whispered towards her. "How does it feel? Not having control of your dragon. It must suck so badly."
Cynthia's eyes dilated. Snarling at him her teeth parted as if she wanted to say something. Closing her mouth she just took a deep breath instead.
"Sniff," a smile plastered her face now. "You are the one June spoke about." Her eyes darted to the stands as she made contact with the other woman. "Now I remember you. So Gray are you worthy I wonder?"
'Ah, Cynthia is getting excitied. This won't end well.' June said. She looked back in the crowd and noticed someone else next to Sabrina. A woman with black eyes and icy blue hair. 'Why does she feel familiar?'
'Oh, so she completed her transformation thats good.' Chroma mused. She looked at June. 'You know Cynthia?'
'Yes. I was the first to help when she returned from a dungeon. SHe confided in me about it. We have been close friends ever since.'
'So do anyone else know? That she went to a dungeon and returned.'
'Yes. There is that woman over there in the stands. Her name is Diantha.' June pointed at a woman with a white overcoat and some stylish white boots. A necklace dangled from her neck.
'Her and Cynthia are connected. How odd.' Chroma then looked back to Cynthia. They are dressed similar. Are they togethor?'
'Chroma look! Something is happening.' June said.
"Oh dear. Tsk, tsk." Gray said before bunching out. "Bam!" Nothing happened. A purple glow around his foot as he stomped against the barrier at her face area. Flipping back he created some distance.
"You are just to weak kid." Said Cynthia. She was disappointed. "What did she ever see in you? No wonder you couldn't keep her."
That struck a nerve in Gray. Pulling on the physic reserves his wings formed.
"Hmph," Gray teleported and smashed against the barrier. Again and again, he hit against it till a small crack formed. "Recover!" Glowing in the light, Gray wounds had healed. He went back to smashing the barrier. When a small opening gave from the crack he jammed a finger in from each hand.
Pulling it apart slowly he made just enough room for another two fingers. Then another two and another. Once he could get a full grip he shouted. "Bulk Up!" His muscles expanded as he pried his hands apart. Two things happened next. The first. Tearing of the barrier. Second, he changed back to almost normal.
"Well, you broke the barrier. Impressive. But the rules say you have to land a blow. Can you do it in your condition?" Cynthia no longer had the boring look. It started to fade once Gray jammed his fingers through her barrier. "PokeSoul!"
Just like that, the test became harder. Cynthia had a powerful tail that came out of her backside just above her butt. On the end of it was something akin to a drill. The part of her elbow to the wrist was encased in a scale-like pod. Around her electricity would gather. She opened her mouth hauntingly. "I want to fight you, Gray. How about it? Screw the formalities. Just trainer versus trainer."
"Pass I already won. No need to continue." Gray relaxed and the last of his transformation vanished.
"You haven't landed a blow yet," Cynthia said angrily. She felt insulted.
"Check your cheek," Gray said walking to the end of the platform.
As soon as Gray said that, a small cut had appeared on her cheek. It was about an inch in length. It started to bleed. Reaching up Cynthia touched the fresh blood.
"Mmmm, my blood has been spilled," Cynthia said almost breathlessly. Her dragon was coming out more and more. As her eyes went back to him the cut healed.
"The winner Gray Saint!" The announcer said. The crowd went wild. Especially since it had been so long since she actually fought in public.
"Where do you think you are going, Gray?!" Cynthia yelled. "Are you a man or not." Her voice contained a strange pull to it. She was using Taunt.
Gray turned and looked at her. Pointing at her he beckoned. "Come. One strike for one strike."
Cynthia couldn't pass this up. Her tail started to spin as her wings flapped off the ground. In less than a second, she arrived at Gray. "Dragon Punch!" A silhouette of a Zekrom appeared behind her as the blow was struck.
"Boom!" The punch landed in Gray's stomach lifting him a little bit off the ground. Cynthia aura kept him from getting away. The show area was completely decimated.
Gray just smiled after he landed back down. Only a few words left his mouth as every drop of aura he had was unleashed. "Revenge of Ancient Power!"
Before the blast could hit her Cynthia felt something she hadn't felt in 10 years. Fear! Throwing up a cross guard she put everything into her next move. "Protect!" The black dome formed in front like a protective membrane. 'It cant hold! Impossible!' The membrane gave way after a few seconds.
As the dust cleared only two figures stood in the arena. Gray as normal and Cynthia with her transformation falling away in shock. Her cheeks had a blush to them. Unable to contain her excitement she rushed forward and grabbed Gray.
"So powerful!" Cynthia twirled Gray around like a ragdoll much to the shock of everyone. She didn't notice Gray was out cold. "Let's get you healed up and have a proper battle. No rules just a slug match."
"Cynthia put him down," June said. She feared for her friend's life. If it wasn't for Sabrina knocking Gale out there might have been a murder on their hands.
"Get him to the infirmary!" Yelled Professor Oak. "Tell them to run an aura distiller."
June just watched making sure Gale didnt wake up. Well, she wasn't that big of a problem. The problem was Empress!
A day later Gray woke up in the hospital. Empress tail was wrapped around his midriff as usual. Midnight was sleeping by his feet with Growlithe. Nidorino slept by the door. Clyde was by the windowsill. Gale was nowhere to be found. Sending his aura he realized it was completely drained. Switching to a physic pulse he found Gale. She was at a vending machine with Jackie. As soon as he pushed against her, she whipped around running down the corridor pass everyone. Jackie followed a split second after.
Arriving in his room they breathe a sigh of relief.
"You are ok," Jackie said. Gale just walked over and grabbed his hand and sat in a chair. Empress was nowhere in sight.

"Yes. Just a little drained. So catch me up."
"Well, you won. Cynthia has been checking on you every two hours or so. She wants to talk to you about something important. June is with her now."
"Alright. what is the bad news?" Gray asked.
"Sabrina... left. She went with Lance." Jackie said not meeting his gaze.
Gray felt something snap inside him. Before the others could say anything else he teleported out of the room leaving his Pokemon behind. All of them except Growlithe.
June and Chroma popped in right behind him. 'I know these people Chroma. They represent the League.' She then described each of the people to Chroma.
Gray arrived in a room where Sabrina sat at a table with Lance, Cynthia, Alder, Diantha, Steven, Iris, Wallace, and Red.
"So Sabrina," Gray said neutrally. "Is this the choice you made?"
"This is a closed meeting. How did you get in here?"Said Alder. Gray ignored him and kept his eyes on Sabrina waiting for her answer.
"Gray there is nothing to say."
"Well, I asked you a question. So I want a yes or no. No deviation whatsoever. Now tell me." Gray voice still came out calm.
Cynthia and Diantha looked at each other and realized something else was going on here.
Iris was shaking like a leaf for some reason. She was scared of Gray. His very voice sent her on edge. Wallace and Steven just sat there.
"You should step outside. This does not concern you." Said Red. Not really paying attention. He didnt know who Gray was and just thought he was some fan of Sabrina's.
Sabrina looked at Gray and couldn't say anything. The room was quiet for five minutes until Adler stood up. He walked over to Gray.
"Adler get back!" Yelled Iris. She gave him a heads up just in time as a slash of flames passed right in front of his face.
Everyone's attention was now on Gray.
"Yes, or No," Gray said again.
"Yes.. Gray this is my choice. I…" Sabrina stopped talking when the overwhelming pressure descended. It lasted only a moment before Gray turned to leave.
"I will not spare you in the future know this." His words hit her hard. She felt the blessing of Latios and Latia's reel in anger. They wanted her to leave with Gray.
"What is going on?" Asked Wallace.
"I can answer that." Said June walking in. Wobbling slightly like a raging bear. She saw the tears going pass Gray as she stepped in. She almost stopped to console him. Handing over a document she placed it in front of Red. "Please read these files right now with everyone present." Watching him open it she turned to see Gray leave the room. 'I hope he doesn't do anything drastic. If he knew what Lance was doing to get Sabrina to there side he might to fight to the death to kill him and the league.'
Gray teleported back to his room. He would have done it in there but he used too much strength getting inside past the shielding. Striking now would be counter-productive.
Growlithe left from inside him and rested at the foot of the bed.
"Did.. you.." Jackie wanted to ask. "Did you kill any of them, Gray?"
"No." Turning to his chart he read over it. His aura wouldn't come back for a few days. He found it odd since he could feel it returning already. Empress was inside him resting.
Gale got up and fixed some food to eat. She was just happy he was awake. Jackie sat quietly and read a book. A few hours later June came back. She was not alone. Cynthia and Diantha were with her.
"Gray I am sorry. If there is anything I can do." June said with a helpless voice.
"No there isn't. Are you here to tell me I need to leave. I dont mind."
"Not at all Gray. This is an Elite Trainer hospital we dont have any sway here." Diantha said looking at Gray intensely. 'What a dangerous young man. He is calm despite what he has done.'
"Gray I tried to get Lance discredited but the others…"
"The others stopped it. He was too important to the cause. They pardoned his crimes." Cynthia said angrily. "Red voted to imprison Lance. But that didn't work out. He might step down as the Pokemon League representative."
The room started to warble.
'No Chroma I need more time. I have to know what happened!' June pleaded. The next thing she knew she was back in her bed waking up.
"June are you coming to breakfast?" A voice asked from the opposite side. She couldn't tell who it was but didnt care right now. She felt Chroma resting inside her currently.
